  1. Well I don't think of it as having no will power. Because WLS was and is the hardest thing I have ever done! It's a tool, you can still eat slider foods and not lose! It's not an easy way out! It's just that you are more easily statisfied. It's your choice not to tell anyone how you are doing it. If they ask just say, "eating less and moving more"! It's true! You don't owe anyone an explanation! I am down 80lbs in 5 months and I am loving my new sleeves life!

    NEWBIE....BUT CHUGGING ALONG

Sounds like you are doing great!! I am down 49 lbs as of my weigh in this morning! 1/3 of the way to goal!! Lets see a typical day of eating or me is 45 cal light bread slice ( whole wheat) with some peanut butter at home and them on my way to work an iced coffee. (A bad habit that I can't break but have cut down on the cream) around 10am I have a snack like a cheese stick or a yogurt. Lunch is generally a leftover from dinner the night before, soup or some deli meat. I can only eat a few bites anyway. Afternoon I have another small snack or protein bar and them dinner. Lots of water or sf iced tea during the day. We eat out a lot so I just share with family or bring home left overs. I feel freed a bit not a slave to food anymore. I am thrilled with my weight loss bit now I have to start an exercise regimen which I haven't gotten my act together with yet! Ugh!!!
  6. Believe me I wanted the crust!! But knew my tummy couldn't handle it so the dog got a treat. I say try it but eat really slow....

    ouch

I had incision pain for about 4 weeks then it just disappeared one day. Good luck! It will be a distant memory soon.
  8. Well I was down 18lbs from the preop diet which was 12 days long. So since march 1st I have lost 43lbs... Pizza well I was bad, probably a month out. I ate like a very thin 1/2 slice of a very small pizza. ( no crust) It went down ok and then I waited like 2 hours and had another small one. I love pizza so I was very excited. I have had a hard time with some foods because they were too spicy and well I didn't eat slow enough. I tend to be a gobbler. If I I don't chew well enough or eat to fast I vomit. I do eat pizza now like once a week. But I have 1 slice and I am done, full and satisfied. Such a great feeling not to be a slave to food anymore. I let my sleeve tell me when I'm done. Not to say that I haven't had a hard time with that. It's been a process to figure out when I am full or not. That one extra bite and its all over... Blah....

    NEWBIE....BUT CHUGGING ALONG

I was sleeved 2 days before you. I am doing well also down 43 lbs since my preop diet which started March 1st. Just keep on going we are gonna Rock our sleeves!!
  10. Just would like to add my 2 cents. I was sleeved on March 12 this year and my journey was very similar to yours. I had a very difficult recovery in the 1st days after surgery. Lots of vomiting, at one point I broke a blood vessel in my forehead and I started to bleed massively out my nose and mouth. I thought my elderly parents we going to have a heart attack when they saw that. I was very dehydrated so I ended up staying an extra day. It was tough in the beginning I felt like what have. I done to myself? But as I have healed things are getting better. I have had pizza (actually its something I can tolerate without puking. Just one small piece though,). I am relearning how to eat, figuring out my limits and trying to move forward. I can't take back my decision so I have. To embrace this change! I am proud to say I had my check up yesterday and I have lost a total of 43lbs!! I am thrilled with my progress as hard as this journey has been. You will make it, just keep looking toward the future!! Good Luck!!

Whats the hardest part for you?!

You will figure out head hunger versus physical hunger after surgery. I had surgery march 12 I am down 40lbs. You get filled with just a few bites you feel statisfied but them you see something on tv or smell something good cooking and it triggers your head hunger. I have to stop myself and say are you really hungry or are you just craving? Most of the time it's a craving because of some sort of visual cue or a a smell. I fight it all he time but its getting better now that I am more in time with it. Hope that helps!

    Im an emotional disaster :(

I was sleeved on march 12 and I know what you are going through. Have felt the same way. I think it's more of a grieving process than we thought it would be. Everything that we do revolves around food. We go out to eat at least 2-3 times a week. I had to remember its not all about the food but the company we are with and the socialization of going out to eat. I also don't always order a meal and share with my family and friends. Of course if they are not eating something I can tolerate or like I just get whatever I want and bring it home for later meals... Eat slow and listen to your body when it is full, enjoy the people your with. You will be fine, it's a lifestyle change that is not easy hit you will be successful!!!

    Connecticut Sleevers?

Hey Alison, My name is Jen and I had my surgery with Dr. Verdura in Meriden (in the same office as Dr. Benbrahim) on March 12th... Where do you live? I am from Wolcott.
  17. I think everyone and everyone's post op plan is different. I was able to eat an egg 2 weeks after once I was on soft foods... I have had no problem with it. Good luck to everyone trying new things. I am 4 weeks post op and I am heading to Disney this week. Worried about eating there. Can't take protein shakes on the plane so I am planning to go to a store down there to get them. Hopefully I can get through ok.
  18. I really like to eat chili, very mild. Sometimes I go as get a small Wendy's chili and eat it for 2 meals. Cheese sticks, soups, yogurt, cream of wheat ( I make it with milk), sf puddings, I have even eaten a 1/4 of a cheeseburger. Also eating small bites of chicken. Really just chewing really well and taking it slow...

    March 12 th

You will get there with the eating. Just eat really slow and chew really well! I have a hard time wih any type of pasta or bread. I find when I eat to fast that's when it comes back up. If I take it slow I can monitor how I am feeling between bites. Sometimes one bite to much it comes back up! I hate that!

    Bizarre trend?

  23. I have a DVT and it sucks! One of my veracose veins behind my knee was really sore 2 days after I came home from the hospital. Call my Dr. And he had me come in the next day for an ultrasound on my leg. They found the clot so I am now on blood thinners. I have to go get blood work every couple of days. It's scary I think I have one but my Dr. Is on top of it. I was sleeved on march 12th. I am eating soft foods a doing pretty well. I have thrown up a few times. I can seem to figure out when I am full. I eat one more bite then I feel it back up. I have to learn to eat slower and really monitor each bite.
