I am a kidney transplant patient
ElyQuint replied to beddeha's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I swallowed whole pills from the time I woke up. No one told me otherwise. -
Strange issue. Last night I had a simple Greek salad. I didn't break any rules. But I got indigestion so bad that it took 8 tums and three ginger chunks to put the fire out! I have had this issue before and have prilosec which I, too often, forget to take. When I woke up today my sleeve actually felt sore. I'm 6 months out with no other issues. I'm curious if anyone else has had a "sore" sleeve?
-
Hi all. My boyfriend cuts ginger root up and dries it. You can also get something similar at trader joes. It does help and has less carbs than tums. I've had salads before but not often. Broccoli Rabe had the same effect. But if I don't take the prilosec indigestion happens to some extent no matter what I eat. But only once in a while it becomes an 8 tum, ginger chunk, sleep sitting up kinda thing. Good to hear others have experienced the "soreness" and all turned out Ok. I've never "felt" my stomach before this surgery.

Surgery has totally changed my relationship with alcohol. I only drink wine or Irish cream now. I get buzzed immediately and I'm a jerk the next day. Mostly I avoid it.

I was sleeved on 7.29.13. HW 288; SW 277 CW 210. Stoked.

Throat Gurgling.
ElyQuint replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets better but my body is way more verbal than it used to be. -
7.29.13 and I use mfp to track. I get a 900 calorie average and try to keep carbs below 50 grams. I will say this week (that special week) I've gone up to 1200 cals twice and carbs are at like 80.

A days diet after VSG- Can anyone give examples?
ElyQuint replied to SleevesUp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 months out: breakfast 2 morningstar sausage patties; snack: polly-o string cheese; lunch dannon light & fit 2x protein Greek yogurt with hemp hearts; snack nuts or cottage cheese; dinner 1/2 avocado with salt, pepper and cumin, 2 wedges artisanal cheese and 5 olives; dessert: dark chocolate covered roasted edamame. That's the ideal day. I'd love to get more veggies on the regular but they usually come via a vegan protein shake. -
Protein Shake Creativity

Its Ok but soft tofu has less protein. I go yogurt. -
How did you handle telling everyone about your surgery
ElyQuint replied to vincereautmori's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Everything I hide I eventually eat. Besides, I just lost 77 pounds in 6 months so who was I fooling? I tell everyone. What I don't do is defend it. I don't have to. This was the best decision I ever made and I won't let anyone make me ashamed of it. -
Olives, pickles, polly-o, peanut butter, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers with guac or hummus, nuts, edamame, seeds, avocado, kale chips, cottage cheese, basil leaf tomato slice and fresh mozz,

What to eat from Chinese reataurant?
ElyQuint replied to Wendydarling19's topic in Food and Nutrition
Veggie egg fu young. No gravy. Or sometimes crispy fried tofu with steamed broccoli. -
Hi. I eat chia on occasion. It does swell with liquid so I keep it on the minimal. Good alternative is hemp hearts. I do a similar shake adding protein powder of course.

I hear you completely. The "satisfaction" you speak of is what is about to be removed from your life and not the food that causes it. The sedation and satiety of over-eating is what you should be memorializing. No amount of food gives me that now. I just get uncomfortable.
-
Sunkissed, you are not wrong there. But the tools you use to combat head hunger are just as effective with the munchies. Essentially the two impulses are the same. Its a question of awareness.

I asked my nurse and she said 10 days for weed.

Oh man. I would give my teeth to burp like a sailor! I get painful hiccups when I overdo it.

I recently had my 6 month check-up and I am 75 pounds down but more importantly my blood test results are those of an incredibly healthy person! Between the Sleeve and my fitness pal, I am in control of my health for the very first time. My boyfriend is in bed dealing with the plague while I, also infected, have barely a sniffle!

Ahhh the pre-diet binge. I had lots of food funerals. I'm glad I did. A relationship as strong as the one between me and pizza deserved a proper goodbye. I still hang out with pizza once in a while but we don't make love like we used to. Its just food.

My Period Is Regular! But Facial Hair Is Here To Stay :(
ElyQuint replied to Estella's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started at 288 and got my period back at 260. Regular like. 260 is also the weight at which I stopped my regular periods as well. -
Starting to feel some slight depression....(Pity Party)
ElyQuint replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will feel a new kind of normal eventually. You used to have an automatic digestive system. Your learning to drive the stick shift version. The hunger and gas will subside. Your hormones and mind will regulate and you will lose weight (I promise). Its mathematically impossible not to. -

ElyQuint replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys. Six months out and 73 pounds down. It gets better. Much better. It becomes a tool and not a warden. Nobody ever meets the water goal, ever. Just keep drinking. -
Is sex better as a thinner you?
ElyQuint replied to AR40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I can't believe i drank the whole cup
ElyQuint replied to onsummit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats! Avoiding the carb landslide and not making a big deal out of a minor infraction is huge and I applaud you! Can you believe you actually turned down a donut?
