Do you still enjoy food?
ElyQuint replied to vincereautmori's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I still enjoy food but I no longer enjoy eating too much food, which was one of my favorites. I have other favorites now though. -
I lost 10 pounds preop. But all in tiny increments. I did not take it seriously until a month prior. I didn't gain which was a miracle in itself. I am very happy to have used the time productively by working on my compulsive binge behaviour.

Awesome!

I was so annoyed by that 6 month wait. But I survived. I used the time to work on my psychological relationship with food. Didn't pay much attention to "dieting" until the last month. Lots of therapy and journalling and researching.

Heartburn - Does it get better?
ElyQuint replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crap. I been under the delusion that its bacterially caused and will get better after I consistently take my prilosec long enough to get rid of the bacteria. I don't wanna take it forever. Balls. -

Disclaimer: a bit of whining?
ElyQuint replied to Dragonsmate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Head hunger was not what I thought it was going to be. I thought I knew what the term meant but when it happened it gave me whiplash. Lol. Your right, time and grit. But it sure as sh*t ain't easy. Whine away! I know I did! -
Good luck! I used the book to quit about 4 years ago. Glad I never have to do it again! I use the tools a lot now to deal with food cravings. So worth it!

Bucket List..What's been added since WLS?
ElyQuint replied to Kiara5244's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good question!!! I'm now designing a life which more closely reflects my personal values and desires. That's my whole bucket list I guess. -
My boyfriend was terrified that i was going to die. He would freak out, then I would freak out, then he would make pie and I would lose my ever loving mind and he would say that was proof that he was right and this was a bad decision. Then I'd throw him out and he would lose his ever loving mind. It was CRAZY around here. It was fear driven emotional mayhem. I too really didn't know how bad it would be. Six months later I am happy and healthy and he is thankful that I have a sex drive and take pride in my appearance now. We can hike together and I can help with the snow shovelling. Its hard when someone changes your life. Compassion will see you to the other side. It was tough putting my man through that but rather that than congestive heart failure, chemo or dialysis.

I get grossed out by the liquid too. I eat it anyway.

I never eat a whole banana (or any non berry fruit). I use it as an ingredient often by the thirds. I track my numbers and let them decide.
-
I'm also ovo-lacto vegetarian. Some of my frequent breakfasts are Greek yogurt, hemp hearts w/ nut butter, morningstar veg sausage patties, spinach and cheese stuffed baked tomato, portobello with goat cheese and kale or mozz and tomato, flax & millet Lavash toast with olives and cream cheese. Lately I've been making high protein muffins that are amazing (25 grams protein, less than 10 carbs, 423 calories) PM for recipe.

Best of luck. Here if you need anything. -
Super Chai pumpkin Seed Butter Muffins 1/4 Cup hemp hearts; 1/4 cup flax seeds; 1/2 cup of pecans; 2tbs PB2; 1/4 cup coconut dusted almonds; 1 teaspoon baking soda; 2 scoops Vega One Chai Latte Protein, 2 TBS of clear Fiber powder. Tsp stevia. Grind it all up. Mix 3 eggs, 1.5 cups pumpkin seed butter, 1 banana, 1 cup granny smith apple sauce. Mix it all together and muffin it up at 325 for 15 minutesish. At 14 muffins these things have 25 grams of protein under 10 net carbs. They also have 423 calories which I need and tons of Vitamins and nutrients. Next time I might add zucchini and coconut flour.

Bipolar can I get approved?
ElyQuint replied to a new start's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was approved despite it but had to jump through all sorts of hoops. Its not up to the surgeon but it is up to the shrink. I was told I had to be six months stable with meds. -

Its just regular old avocado oil from the health food store. I steam in the shower or hot wash cloth for 2 minutes, massage the oil all over the face, steam with the wash cloth again for 5 minutes. Once a week I repeat it three times to deep clean and hydrate. Pat dry. My friend told me about it. I didn't really believe it but I can't argue with the results. But I also upped my vitamins

Drop you carbs.

Yup. The same way chemo is the easy way out of cancer.

What do you do when you can't turn to food anymore?
ElyQuint replied to JillC878's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I remember feeling panic when I first had to actually feel negative feelings. Like emotional arm flailing panic. Now its yoga and meditation. Including cleaning. If I feel a lack I look for abundance. Radical self love. Do something good for you!
