I had my LB removed after 7 years. My only issue is that now every time I eat I get indigestion, burping, and small amounts of spitting up. I take nexium 40 mg every morning but it doesn't help. I don't have GERD. This happens with all foods Any suggestions, Julie

I had my band removed a week ago on 12/22 I had been wanting it out for years. I was banded 5/2007. I had nothing but problems the whole time. I did not have enough money to get it out and started to feel trapped with this foreign thing in my body. I felt like the longer it was in me, the more damage it was doing to my insides. Anyway, my insurance ended up paying for it because of complications. IT's OUT!! The surgery went well.. I was in the OR for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Lots of pain afterward. Still recovering.. will check in

Information Overload !
fatandoverit replied to ThinnerMe2015's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That's a very good idea! I too am a hard core researcher but it only gets me all worked up. I'm a major hypochondriac so my most recent vow is to stay off of web md. It makes me crazy. Good luck and it will all work out???? -
I so wish I had enough money to get GB. I have lost 25 lbs over the last few months which is great, but at a SW of 398 it just seems like such a battle. The crazy thing is that it didn't even make a difference in how I feel. I'll keep going but I'm not that encouraged. It will take me years to even get to a "manageable" weight that I feel ok with. Right now my quality of life is terrible and it's not only hard on me, my family suffers as well. I hate those pity looks and the old " I'm praying for you everyday" phrase makes me sick. Sorry for the rambling

All I have to say is GO WITH YOUR GUT!!! I was banded in 2007 and it has been a total disaster. the thing is, I was going to get the bypass all along until my dr recommended the band at the last minute. That was when the band was all the craze. My thing is sweets and if I had gotten what my gut told me to get, I wouldn't be in the situation I'm in.. Bigger than ever! I don't know much about the sleeve but neither does anyone else. I mean, it is fairly new and no one knows the long term effects. RNY has been done for years and years. Besides, I can't imagine having part of my stomach removed forever. Just my thoughts

How did you get them to pay 100%. What was the process, qualifications, how long. How much was the hospital pay? So, tell me about the sleeve? -

Cool, thank you for your reply. What procedure are you getting done and when? Is kaiser paying? -

I started at 321 and got down to 242.. big whoop.. I needed to be down to 165.. Started gaining and have gained back 40 pounds. My problem is not portion control.. it's sweets.. Ice cream is the big one for me. I have it daily and cannot stop. Even as I read the boards I just went into the kitchen to get some cookie dough.. How nice huh?? I am looking into overeaters anonymous. I went to my surgeon and he said that the Dr that put in my band totally recommended the wrong thing for me.. I should have gotten the bypass which is what I wanted in the first place. Now my original doctor is suggesting I take out the band (he will do it for free) and get the sleeve (which is $12000) as sweets with the sleeve are tough to handle.. But who has that kind of money laying around.. NOT ME!! I am dying to be thin... I'm miserable daily and don't know what to do.. -
Any ideas what could be wrong?
fatandoverit posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here it is in a nutshell. I had a leak and went in for port replacement. That day I had some crackers and milk with no problem. The next day I could only get small sips of liquid down. Oh and by the way Dr. only put in a 1/2 CC and I was used to having a little over 2. I thought maybe there was a blockage and it was the weekend so I stayed on sips of liquid. Then all of a sudden it was going down and I ate some mashed pots with no prob. Then the next morning had same prob with nothing going down.. Then a few hours later I ate some oatmeal. Does anybody have any idea? Oh yeah have had lap band of 1 1/2 years so I know what blockage and restriction feel like.. this seems different. I thought maybe nerves??? HELP!! Doc wants to take all liquid out and start all over when I talked to him on the phone and I KNOW that is not the problem. -
I p'b several times weekly for months.. ate too fast and it got stuck and then i would stand at the kitchen sink and spit it up.. I even would have to spit things up in my desk garbage can at work. I was sooooooo scared. I went last week for the barium swallow and everything was perfect.. no stretching no erosion. I would suggest slow down.. i still have probs when i think i have eaten slow and it still comes up.. i went on liquids and mushies for about a week and felt better

Hi all.. I was banded May of 2007.. Down approx 63 pounds!!!!!!!! woohoo Once I felt restricted at about 2cc.. i spent a lot of time pbing.. usually daily. I was just eating too fast.. i have slowly gotten things under control. Last time I was in I told my doctor it seemed like I could eat quite a bit and she said she worries about pouch dialation.. See this was before finding the perfect restriction so I really don't think I was stretching it.. I mean sometimes I would be really full and sometimes not.. My thing was if I am not full then keep eating.. right.. Not anymore. I have become quite disciplined.. My thing is.. how do you know if you have damage. I am sooooo afraid that I would have to get it removed and then face the ultimate failure. It consumes my mind. I have no symptoms. No pain.. i get full easily in fact I even get full from liquids. The only slight irritation I may have is a very small hint of reflux but barely enough to notice. Somebody please put my mind at ease. ps.. i am getting an upper gi in about three weeks but I need peace of mind now!!

signs of needing band removed??
fatandoverit replied to fatandoverit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too would be very leary of the new doctor.. sounds strange. I am doing liquids because I feel like my stomach might need a break. I changed my appointment to Tuesday the 6th because I am a worrier and I am going crazy. I really only worry about a slippage due to pbing too much. I really cannot eat that much. Mentally I would be ruined if I had to have it removed but really i think that is only in extreme cases. I don't have any symptoms really.. just paranoid. I will let you all know after my barium swallow on tues. -
I may be stupid but say I have a large coffee and I feel full, could this be stretching my pouch? It seems like it would just go down and not be in the pouch.??
-
I spent a few months where I pb'd all the time.. not overeating but just sliming when i ate too fast.. how do i know if i have any damage.. what are the signs.. it would be the ultimate failure to have a removal

Seeing old friends but waiting to lose weight
fatandoverit posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You know it is sooooo frustrating because there are people in my life from my past that I want to see. I was heavy back then... meaning ohhhh about 180 to maybe 220 (ohhhh way up to 220... the horror) Well having had the surgery at 321. What the hell!!! It's like "hey yah... let's have lunch. Let me look at my calendar. Ummmmm... How does 8 months sound?" And still even if I were lucky I would still be at my heaviest they had ever seen me at... remember the 220 horror. Sometimes I dwell on this. Yes I know if they truly love or care it won't matter..Well damnit it matters to me. Anyone else feel this way. Then I have to look at the bright side and just go on. :angry:think:faint::nervous:nervous:nervous -
I saw this post from 2006 and it was interesting so I thought I would ask everybody... What was your last straw? I have a ton of them but really I would say... feeling 55 when I am really 35 not being able to care for my toddler as I should having to be a contortionist to freakin wipe myself not being able to go on a trip with my family for fear of not fitting in the airline seat dressing like a homeless person and feeling dirty all the time so what did it for you?

SEROQUEL is the devil... I was overweight before and then I went on seroquel... and took it during my whole pregnancy... well hello extra 100 pounds.. now I have 170 pounds to lose I have been banded for 4 1/2 weeks and lost 12 in the first week and am at 13 now.. because of the intense carb craving of THE DEVIL... my shrink told me that we were actually working against the surgery... so he is working me off of it and on to something else. Its hard... and it became really hard when I realized I could still eat anything and everything before my first fill.... sometimes I wish I had opted for the gastric bypass... but then I would be all saggy for real.... but now its like when I think about seeing old friend that don't know I am huge... its like "hey can we get together for lunch...in like 6 months? and i will just then weigh 250? damn that sucks!!! I know I need to look on the bright side...

josiebies ... sorry... it is a med for bi-polar... depression... sleep deprivation... the crazies... that sort of thing. Thank your lucky stars if you are ONLY fat!!! to all the rest... I am switching to Topomax.. and currently take 300mg Effexor.. Effexor really works great for me... I don't think it makes me gain... but I always took it with the seroquel so I am not really sure.. but really without it I am so angry, irritated, agitated.... like shooting spree type personality... that it is scary... so I better stick with it before I try switching... other things have worked... one thing I did like was Lexapro... but I do not have any of the sexual side effect with Effexor that other people do have... Paxil put me on a full time high... woah...I was on a high for like 6 months and thought thats how things were supposed to be until I realized that I had maxed out all my credit cards and done several other crazy things...woo hoo...good times.. not Topamax really makes people not want to eat much at all and it works on my MASSIVE anxiety... it does make you forget your train of thought... give you numbness in your toes and fingers... forget words... and zone out... but frankly the way my mind works about 5000 thought per second I welcome that... we will see how it goes... I am not sure it will keep me from a bout of depression... not acceptable.. I don't think this thread was titled correctly...

I thought some of you might be curious to see what it might look like after surgery.. I know that not all surgeons do the operation the same, however, I think this will give you and idea.

13 days post op band
fatandoverit replied to Fairiefyre's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone... I am 15 days post op and I am pretty much eating whatever I want. After my one week appointment my doctor switched me to mushies and I have gradually switched to solids because I found them to be tolerable. I DO eat with a baby spoon and limit my food to 1 cup or less per serving. The main thing is to chew chew chew.... this stage is definately testing my self control.. I am looking forward to a fill.
