wendybyrd83 replied to chantelleyxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Starting weight: 291 Current weight: 220 Pounds lost: 71 Sleeved on: March 26 (less then 5 months) Very proud of all of y'all!!! -
I've used nuva ring for almost 6 months now.. And at first, I had really bad emotional reactions to it. But then that went away. The only side effect I get from it now is low libido... And that sucks! But I rather have that then a baby for now, and allow my body time to heal and do what it needs to do

NOTHING! I've gone thru their menu with a fine toothed comb. Ugh! I would suggest getting a decaf coffee black drink in the morning (made at home), ice, unsweetened almond or soy milk, stevia to sweeten, and if u want an extra kick, you can also add in some sugar free hazelnut syrup. That way, you get your protein, your "Coffee" (even tho it's decaf) and its low sugar

Food cravings/obsession
wendybyrd83 replied to Lannie2202's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No one told me to prepare for head hunger. Even tho my stomach felt no desire to eat food what so ever, my head was still the "fat girl" way of thinking. 99% of this battle is mental. I did different things to help myself feel better. The first 2 weeks post op, I did nothing except pin food recipes on Pintrest of foods that I was "craving". Now that I can actually eat food, I have to take a different approach. Now, I usually distract myself for about 15 mins when a craving hits, and after that time frame, it's normally gone. Just please don't sit around and drive ur self crazy over obsessing over foods and drinks that can do more harm then good. The only craving that never goes away is for carbonated drinks. Soda, sparkling water, anything bubbly! But, I can't have it, so I just tell myself to get over it. I need my will to be stronger then my cravings I hope this helps! God bless! -
Need a medication for MAJOR MIGRAINES.
wendybyrd83 replied to Masko5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been on topamax for years to prevent migraines. Since the surgery, my migraines have increased but I can't take the topamax due to it lowering the effects of birth control (don't want to get pregnant on this weight loss journey!) My dr put me on another preventive med but it's not helping so far. Good luck to y'all, only people who have had migraines know how wicked painful they really are. -
Nuvaring is my choice of BC. I have had no issues before or after my sleeve surg with weight gain... I do have an issue with a decrease in my sexual drive.. So that SUCKS. But, I can't have babies right now, so we have to work thru that issue.

I tried to find other conversations about having dreams post op but didn't find anything. Has anyone else been having crazy dreams? I am about 4.5 weeks post op and have had several dreams where my incisions have burst open, leaving me bleeding out or even had one where my small intestines were shooting out of my incision that opened! I wonder if this is normal??

Keel in mind your goals, and why you are doing this. Educate yourself as much as possible. Once you are in the hospital, they give u a nice little cocktail to make you feel drunk, and then it's hazy after that. The pain isn't too bad.. Walk, walk, walk is what I suggest. Whenever I had pain, I walked. And it helped soooo much!! It was the first surgery I ever had in my life, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.. I had an amazing experience. Pray, read, talk about it.. Do whatever makes you have a peaceful heart and mind. I'll be praying for you friend

Any Texas Gastric Sleeve Buddies?
wendybyrd83 replied to w2ben's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in Abilene too!! Got sleeved in Decatur on 3/26/13! -
I'm 4 days post op, and so far everything has been much better then my mind thought it up to be. The only surprise really is the battle between my mind and my stomach! It only happens when I smell food. My mind automatically says "you want that! You're hungry!" And my stomach says "nope! You're NOT hungry. I'm stuffed on protein and other liquids!!" It's quite a difference. Before, if my brain said I was hungry, my stomach "made room" to eat what I was craving, or wanted. It's weird that I don't know what to do with these thoughts. Any suggestions?

Head vs stomach
wendybyrd83 replied to wendybyrd83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once I was able to eat soft foods, head hunger was not as bad. I'm actually pretty much turned off by the thought of eating... It's not as pleasant because I am still learning when my stomach is full, and it usually comes quick!! So, food, at this stage, makes me pretty miserable. -
I'm from Abilene too!! Just got sleeved on 3/26/13

Looking for ideas of what to eat in the soft food stage...I'll be in it for 2 weeks, and I don't want to get tired of the same things. Please, share some ideas with me!

Post op march sleevers
wendybyrd83 replied to gelen's_change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on march 26th. Feeling better then expected. It still blows my mind how much walking and drinking your fluids actually helps! My incisions are still sore, and I can't sit for too long without feeling uncomfortable.. But my fluid intake has been awesome! I sip different clear liquids all day. Mostly water, nectar protein and broth when I feel up to it. If I get the craving to want to just CHEW something I do have a sugar free Popsicle. I love reading all of y'all's post. Very encouraging! -
I use nuvaring and love it. No issues.
