My Sleeve experience in Mexico :)
SuperblyInsane replied to abetterme4.2's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am so glad you are continuing to post for us pending sleevers! What doctor released you to life weights? Just wondering if you mean the surgeon from Cancun or a local doctor that is doing follow-up treatment? I have chosen my doctor in Cancun as well and am counting the days until I can have a story like yours!! 2 other questions - did your doctor use compression stockings? Did they give any blood-thinning therapy? I have tried to find as much info from my doctor, but there isn't a whole lot about his post-op out there. -
help! less than 3 weeks away from surgery, STILL undecided!
SuperblyInsane replied to Lee 316's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank goodness I"m not the only one! I just got off a week long cruise and I think i tried at least one bite of every single thing that i saw! It's like I am stuck in the mindset that I will never be able to eat again! I am aware of it and am getting myself back on track with one month left until surgery. I feel like the fat is trying to steal me from my decision. The other day I found myself wondering what I am going to replace food with. Every weekend, every trip, every day has been an obsession over what I'm going to eat for so long that I'm not sure what I can enjoy as much as I have enjoyed eating all these years. I need to get a new hobby or interest - and quick!!!! -

Before you settle on a surgery, please do your research. Coming from Miami (AKA the land of plastic) Colombia, Venezuela and Bolivia are known for their amazing plastic surgery. Mexico is known for Bariatrics. Most of the packages I have seen in Mexico only keep you for a day or two after the surgery. The other countries keep you a minimum of 10 days in a resort. Nothing against Mexico, that's where I'm having my Sleeve done, but a makeover is really a toll on your body with so many things healing at once. Check out makeovertravel, they have 6 different packages. In Miami, the majority of people travel to Colombia for their surgery and the work I've seen is incredible (just check out the Real Housewives of Miami, lol) -

MeasureOfMe’s Mexico Adventure - In Several Parts!

You can definitely mix it with Almond milk. I don't mind the water, it keeps the calories low and still tastes great, -
i am scared but determined
SuperblyInsane replied to Cat360's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If we weren't scared, we'd really be crazy!! I will say, the closer I get to surgery, the less nervous and more excited I get...maybe I'm beginning to get crazier -

Not fat enough? This is for Low BMI'ers
SuperblyInsane replied to SuchaPrettyFaceBUT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's your decision to make. Why is it that we let people dictate what we do or how we feel about our own bodies? So, we're too fat for most everything, but not fat enough for surgery??? I say screw 'em, lol. If you wait until you are "big" enough for them to think you need surgery, imagine what they would think then...and more importantly, how you would feel about yourself. You are making a decision to reclaim power over YOUR body, not theirs! Sometimes, we have to be our own cheerleader! And when you're feeling like you can't handle it, imagine those pom=poms cheering YAY just for you! -
What to tell work people
SuperblyInsane replied to kooks3003's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am very fortunate to work in a very understanding and supportive workplace. Most know my struggle with my weight and unexpected health complications (Pseudotumor Cerebri). I have openly discussed my upcoming surgery. Not all agree, but are very supporting my decision (while thinking I'm crazy I'm sure, lol). I have to eat with these people every day and in the upcoming months, I'm going to need all the support I can get. I feel so lucky to work with such amazing people. -

No time for freaking out now!!! Just think of how amazing you will look at your goal weight!!! Sending prayers and good wishes!!! -
I am bringing my mother and my 17 year old son. So I definitely understand your worry about kids. I'm all he has and whether he would ever admit it or not, he'd be lost without me. He wanted to come and I was apprehensive because I tend to be a "worst case scenario" planner. Thankfully my mom agreed to come along as well. Enough sappy sadness... you are so right... We ARE gonna rock this next birthday!!! So funny that your hubby is between our birthdays! I am loving this trip already!

Any April sleevers out there?
SuperblyInsane replied to curvyweezie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
ViSalus shakes are super yummy, they literally taste like cake batter. Plus they can be flavored to what ever you want. The base flavor is a sweet cream. Just don't get caught up in their sales tactic of monthly delivery. You can buy it through Amazon. It has really low carbs and a good amount of protein. You can use any type of milk or milk-type products to mix with it. I just use water to keep the calories lower (and I'm not a big fan of milk). -
Gastric Sleeve Surgery Date Set.....low Bmi

I'm so glad to see these posts of such large weight loss so quickly! I actually was (ok, still am) afraid that because I have a relatively low BMI at 34-35, the weight would come off slower! Each post I read makes me want April 20th to get here even faster!!! -

MeasureOfMe’s Mexico Adventure - In Several Parts!
SuperblyInsane replied to measureofme's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Just a suggestion as I too really dislike Protein Shakes. I have found ViSalus. I wouldn't sign up for their mail delivery service because you get sucked into a monthly delivery, but you can purchase it on Amazon. It is more expensive than some, but.... it smells literally like cake mix. It was a cream flavor to it. You can add flavorings to it if your in the mood for a little chocolate. I mix it with plain water but most people use some form of milk. Two scoops of powder has less than 100 calories, 7g carbs and 12g protein. I typically add a small portion of banana (for thicker texture) and ice. A teaspoon of Peanut Butter is good with it too. I've even used a juicer to make "green juice" and mixed that with it to get some added veggie goodness -

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Anyone?
SuperblyInsane replied to carolc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you had any relief since surgery? I have this as well and am scheduled for surgery in April. I am hoping this will relieve any lingering symptoms because I can't tolerate having to be on Diamox ever again! -
