Dr. Spivak here....I paid $14,700 total and had it done as day-surgery, I went in at 6:30am left at 3pm

I went to see Dr. Naaman for a consult about RNY, I didn't know he did bands, from everything I've read about him, he is known as a very good RNY surgeon....my insurance denied me getting the RNY, so I self-paid for the Lapband through Dr. Spivak, from my research of Dr. Spivak, he's the best when it comes to Lapband placement, thats why I went with him... I had my surgery on Jun 29th and I go in for my first adj on Aug 4th (and can't wait!!!!!) I've only lost 8 pounds so far, which isn't much, so I hope the restriction helps me... Let us know who you decide on!!!!

Hi Nita! I will have my band placed in me by Dr. Spivak as well....on June 28th...can you give me any advice, as to how you felt right after the procedure and stuff??? Thanks!

I don't know what part of Texas you're at, but a good Lapband surgeon is here in Houston, Dr. Hadar Spivak...I'm scheduled for my procedure June 28th!!

Feeling like a side show freak is one of the reasons why my doctor put me on Zoloft...back in 2002 I needed to lose 200 pounds and over a period of one year I lost 120 pounds on Weight Watchers....then my mother had a heart attack, I got married, and the weight started piling on....now I'm in 2005, my mother died last year (it'll be one-year on tomorrow), still have my hubby, but have gained 100 pounds back that I've lost.... I was placed on Zoloft back in 2003 because I was diagosed with post tramatic stress/depression...I was (and still am) harder on myself than anyone else can be, and when I started gaining weight, well that was the straw that broke the camel's back... When my mother died in 2004 at age 55, it made me take a LONG look at my life...she was overweight, I'm overweight....I need to do something about this before it gets too late...so I started the process for RNY, my insurance denied me 3 times, then I found out about Dr. Spivak and the Lapband, attended one of his information sessions, and was hooked...the Lapband is for me, but I wasn't about to goto Mexico to have it done (actually my supervisor is Mexican and she told me that if she had the choice she would go with a doctor in the US) so I've taken out a loan, and I'm scheduled for Lapband placement on June 28th... I'm scheduled to have my lapband surgery with Dr. Spivak on June 28th...I've met with him on two occasions in his office and he is VERY experience and a very confident surgeon...he really believes in helping people with their "battle with the bulge"

Hi, I was just curious are there any women on here who have the Lapband and is expecting?? If so, how is your pregnancy going?? Hi, I'm new to the board, my name is Paula and I live in Houston, TX. I'm planninf on having the Lapband placed in me, hopefully at the beginning of March (we'll see) my insurance isn't paying for it, so I'm taking out a loan for the procedure. I've been reading about Dr. Hadar Spivak, and from what I've read he's like the best when it comes to doing this procedure, he's one of the doctors that partcipated in the FDA clinical trials for the Lapband. Well, I'll get to my question now, I would like to communicate with someone who's been a patient of his or is currently one of his patients, so I could ask you questions.
