Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
NurseAndi replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Floor nurse on a behavior unit. Only thing I really needed to be careful of is my hitters and kickers. Otherwise it wasn't to bad. However I am working a split shift tonight then off for 2 days but it really wasn't to bad. -
Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Hope everyone is recovering well. I am 6 days out and went back to work last night. It wasn't to bad. I wish I was able to take off more time but it wasn't possible. Recovery so far has been pretty easy. -
And they are equipped incase if emergency. They have on staff cardiologist and you go through complete pre screen labs and tests

I just came from obesity control center with Dr Ariel Ortiz. Their standards are like in the US. I am a nurse and watched very carefully as to hand washing, maintaining sterile field and all other aspects of infection control. The facility is located in the nice part of town and you are treated like a queen.. And the hospital rooms are comfortable and relaxing unlike American hospital rooms.

Not a whole lot of pain just the uncomfortable gas bloat in the abdominal area. I ave been walking, this helps a lot. A little nausea! No vomiting. Still trying to remember small sips...it's kinda hard to retrain yourself. Andi

Well it is definitely different. My sleeve is growling like crazy, I keep forgetting to take smaller sips and to slow down.i think this will be most difficult for me. I haven't had much pain. The drain does not bother me, it's mostly the abdominal air. But it is not as bad as some I have read about. I o however get a sharp chest pin if I roll on my right side. Could this be staples rubbing inside somewhere? We other than that and my obvious ability to not be sleeping tonight. This experience has been top knotch.

March into Formation March Sleevers! Roll Call...
NurseAndi replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Well it is day 2 and I am doing pretty well. Not a lot of gas pain just a bit. I realized I have to drink much slower than before. I have been nauseated today but have choked it back both times. Not a fan of vomiting. -
Doing well not a lot of pain but had some nausea today. Slept quite a bit and atleast the gas pains are not unbearable. I realize I have to drink slower than I am used to. But doing well thank God

Those who have already been sleeved, how long did it take before you we're back to work? My surgery is scheduled for march 20 but I only took a week off. I am currently working long term care. I am on the floor most of my shift other than the hour or so I spend charting. Just curious what the census is? Andi -

Agreed reasons are different for everyone, price is a factor (fraction of the cost in the states) but also the experience of the surgeons there. Do the research, I have been doing mine for about 8 months before booking my surgery. March 20 is my and my friends magic day. -

You will be glad you did, I have two pair I wear them to work. They are wonderful for circulation. -
My sleeve surgery is scheduled for 3/20, how long is the avg time off after surgery? Is a week long enough?
