Is sleeve good for SERIOUS sugar addicts?
moonlitestarbrite replied to melissa160's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thats why you have to get to the bottom of your food/carb/sugar addiction ahead of the surgery (or at least try)! if you have zero insight, and you have no plan for soothing yourself without food, you will figure out how to eat around your surgery. too many people seem to say "i wont eat that after surgery." and that is their sole plan for coping without food afterwards. there are many ways to fill your needs after surgery... but no plan usually means nothing happens. you fall back on your old coping mechanisms, which means food. -
"women, food and god" or "when food is love."

i will, interested to know how you think that is relevant post surgery. i find all this so interesting, as all the vets i know say its "all about the insides" after a year or two, but so few people i talk to seem to focus on healing that... sure i see lots of behavior change... which goes a long way to change the feelings, but i keep circling around to the emotional stuff and seem to come up mostly empty. huh. -
let me google that for you! ???? http://www.squattypotty.com/

i used a cheese stick to scoop it up! lol you can also look for paleo cracker recipes. grain free, usually made with almond or coconut flour. i was very excited i could eat it with raw carrots last week. raw veggies dont always sit well. yay!

there are sleevers who dump. its way more common with bypass though. i could not tolerate sugar after surgery. even fruit made me feel bad. 13 months PO i eat very little sugar. but i know i an anomaly. there are plenty of sleevers who can eat all the sugar they want. but many more who choose not to. -
eat oatmeal every day and get in as much of your water as possible! i made mine with milk. you can also make oatmeal smoothies with protein powder or greek yogurt. (google it)

have you heard of the faux bypass? they hypnotize the person to believe they have had the surgery. apparently for people who are good subjects, they can lose as much or more weight as someone who has had the actual surgery! -
The Soft Solids Effect
moonlitestarbrite replied to almosthome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
veggies, even cooked veggies, can be tough to digest. try things that are easier... cottage cheese, yogurt, soft cooked eggs. even just drink milk. fyi, at 13 months post op i cant eat 5 ounces protein! 2-3 at most. -
call your doc!! go to the ER! get some IV fluids!

IBS Attack 8 months post sleeve
moonlitestarbrite replied to Mommysonadiet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yup, since gall bladder issues are a known risk of this surgery and IBS isnt. and no one should be in horrible mystery pain for 20 hours without calling a doc or going to urgent care or an ER! it could be appendix too.. if that ruptures, you could die! get some medical attention! -

IBS Attack 8 months post sleeve
moonlitestarbrite replied to Mommysonadiet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
unless you have been diagnosed with IBS i would assume that is gall bladder... but either way, if you are in pain for 20 hours, you better call your doctor right away! its pretty easy to diagnose gall bladder... a blood test and an ultra sound will do the job. -
thank you. it was a long time ago now... almost 35 years! my mom, she is a good person... just not so good with emotional stuff. instead of being a support for me, i took care of her. it wasnt right and i resented her for a long time for it. i understand now and forgive her for what happened, but am careful to not lay anything to heavy on my kids, i never ask them to take care of me, (though i tease them that some day they will be wiping my butt!) beyond small things... cause i know, all too soon they will be grown up and be my peers, not my babies. **sniff sniff**
