    sad and tired

hang in there hon. i have a friend who's daughter died just before she was born. she lost 150 pounds through exercise nd diet, but now come the "dont gain it all back through emotional eating" phase and she struggles. lately she has been doing body pump classes whenever she wants to eat her emotions. you'll find lots of things to do to cope! it will take some time though. hopefully you have therapist you are seeing. **hugs**

    Hate my NUT

i did not care for mine either. she looks gaunt, on the edge of anorexia. never smiles. is a very cold person. she is very rigid. her answers are the only ones that matter. my questions seem to be annoyances. and she's suck in the 80's. everything is artifical sweeteners and non-fat products. i dont know if i have to see her specifically again. i know i get follow up at the center for life.... but i will request someone else if i have to see her post op. look for people who will help you, life is too short to waste with people who are negative for you.

    Artificial sweeteners and Health

we dont eat them in our house. this was an issue with my nutitritionist. she was really pushing them. i am 7 days post opt and doing fine. everything tastes weird from ketosis anyway. lol i use a natural Protein shake (plant fusion) and plain yogurt. i have small amounts of fruit. i'm not really into super sweet things anyway. i love chocolate.. eat the dark stuff. use small amounts of maple syrup and honey. bought coconut crystals to sweeten my ice tea after surgery. it has a low GI. growing up, my dad was fat, drank tons of diet pop, used saccharine in his coffee, even sprinkled it on french toast and pancakes. lost weight, gained it back, died at 56 from a second massive heart attack. they dont help much.

surgery can make your blood sugar go up. my fasting BGL in preop was 84. perfect. my BGL a day later was 204. still hadnt eaten anything. its stress on the body. it should go away.
  6. lol. myfather's mother was like this. she was born in austria, and was one of the most blunt and tactless women i ever met. but she was awesome too. we werent close, she and my dad fought a lot. but i would have liked to have gotten to know her better before she passed. she would tell me how wonderful my mom was and what a dope my dad was. very amusing.

    My Primary Doctor was PISSED

doesnt matter what he thought or felt, its unprofessional for him to become angry with your medical choices. right or wrong about the sleeve procedure, he should not allow personal emotions to get in the way of treating you. the basis of trust is respect and it was disrespectful of him. i hope you can set some firm boundaries with him when you educate him about the sleeve, or find a new doc who respects you enough to act professionally with you.

No artifical sweeteners or processed products

well, different sugars have different glycemic indices. and in the case of both dumping and insulin resistance, its important to know. if you dont use artifical sweeteners. if you do, its a moot point i guess.
  15. we dont eat any artifical sweeteners or flavorings or dyes in our home. i am concerned that so much stuff on my first post op diet plan are "sugar free" processed products. i have bought hemp Protein powder... its pretty minimally processed. i plan on making and storing homemade bone broth (chicken and beef). we get milk right from the farmer, and i have found a brand of plain greek yogurt i like. i also plan on juicing cucumber, romaine, apples, pears, etc. anything low sugar. i think i will be fine but keep worrying.

i dont think they are the same product. they might both come from coconut palm sap. one is dehydrated sap, the other is more processed. i think you are talking about jaggery, right?

sounds like you have having trouble digesting fat. are things better when you eat less fat?

i decided to try coconut crystals, as they have the lowest glycemic index of all the natural sweeteners.
