Judgemental people in the field
moonlitestarbrite replied to greensleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
loveit, in all honesty, you're doing this for yourself and no one else (or at least i hope you are), you dont need anyone else to be any way. you need you to be determined and brave. that is all. as long as the surgeon and the nurses do their jobs, you are all set. true story. -

i am 9 weeks post op today. very sweet things makes me feel icky if its more than a bite. i ate a small piece of very dark chocolate today and i was fine. i had a small amount of rice noodles and broccoli about 10 days ago and it did not sit well. but i am not supposed to have either just yet anyway! lol eventually i can eat anything, except my nut says but very soft doughy bread. this can actuaaly get stuck in the stomach. i can live without tgat as long as i can have toast eventually! i miss rice too. and raw veggies. roght now, just focusing on getting inthe Protein. i couldnt tolerate the shakes and discovered Protein Bars instead. i eat half at a time. met rx Protein drinks mixed with milk work for me too. just not the shakes. ugh.

dont let yourself get distracted by other people's bullshit. you know what you want, go and get it. and if someone is rude to you, le it roll off your back. its their karma, not yours. once you get hooked into other peoples issues, it becomes your bullshit. dont even pick it up. its not yours, it doesnt belong to you and you have more important things on your plate than focusing on someone who is being a b***h... maybe her husband beats her. maybe her child has cancer. maybe she feels so bad about herself, the only way she can feel better is by putting other people down. maybe she is just a b***h who gets off on being mean to others. its not important. your surgery is important. your health is important. your insurance approval is important. so focus on yourself and the things that are really important, let go of her. her crappy attitude is not important. -

my surgeon thinks that the stomach is at least in part responsible for obesity. he believe that in obese people it is dysfunctional... it produces too much leptin and doesnt send full signals. so removing much of it is really helpful to us fat people. just his thoughts about why some people get better from comorbitities before even losing any weight. he said more research needs to be done. i am thrilled with the surgery because A. i now know when i am full. i never really felt full before. B. i am not hungry all the time anymore. there is a huge difference between "i need to develop healthy habits now so i dont regain the weight in two years" and struggling. being conscious of what i am eating and exercising regularly is the price i have to pay to be healthy. this is not a struggle, its what everyone has to do. the struggle for me is learning to cope with my stress, anxiety and ADHD without food. i have been medicating myself for a long time now. since i was 10. i am 47. but it gets a little better day by day. the exercise helps. and so does feeling better about myself. if you are sick of being fat and ready to make some long term lifestyle changes to be healthy, than you might be ready for this surgery! but its not a magic bullet and there is still work you will need to do in order to achieve and maintain your goal, esp with a sleeve. -

if i have one a lot of exercise or even just walked a lot, i am sometimes very sore at bedtime or the middle of the night. i used to just take a few ibuprofen. i know that is out now. what is good? i dont usually use tylenol, i have a sensitive liver. last night i couldnt fall asleep and ended up taking a pain pill left fom surgery. is there something i can do to prevent it? i hope the less i weigh, the less it will happen, but i am prone to shin splints not matter how much i weigh.

sugar alcohols?
moonlitestarbrite replied to moonlitestarbrite's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
okay, but none of this says *why* they are bad. i have been buying and eating met-rx pure protein bars... 20 grams of protein, 2 grams of sugar. i cant tolerate the protein drinks. so i eat half in the morning, half in the afternoon. no ill effects i can see. but i notice the builder bars i also got have 20 grams of proteinand 20 grams of sugar and say "no sugar alcohols." -

moonlitestarbrite posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i woke up in the middle of he night with a mouthful of stomach acid so bad i was choking and gaging. it was horrible. it burned everything and made it hard for me to breath. i already sleep up on two pillows! yes i forgot my ppi before bed, but was very careful to not lay down less than 2 hours after eating. no one warned me about his pre surgery. it was sacry and upsetting.
