    gallbladder

some surgeons do do both at once. i am guessing it depends on the surgeon and the patient's history and current health status. if you want, you could get a second opinion, but if you trust your doc and dont feel any objection to his treatment plan, then why? you will feel much better after you have it out! believe me.

    Can't stop losing

i am not a vet, so dont know if i can post here or not, but i want to say that slowing down your exercising isnt throwing anything away! not by a long shot. moderating both your exercising (doing less) and your food intake (by eating more) should help you to stop losing weight. you arent loosing one iota of anything by learning to adjust based on your current circumstances. its important that you track both so you know how to adjust. we are all here because we have a disordered relationship with food. this can swing in the opposite direction at anytime. so remain mindful of how you are coping with your stress. if you feel everything in your life is out of control and one thing you can control is eating and exercise... you might take that too far to cope. its the flip side of the coin from coping with your stress by eating. you may want to find a therapist who specializes in eating disorders who can help you find healthy ways to cope with stress and feelings of loss of control. good luck!

    gallbladder

guessing your liver enzymes are high. sometimes gall bladder disease can make you quite sick and cn cause the liver to begin shutting down, in that case you most certainly cannot wait until june. GB surgery is quick and the recovery is fast. unless you are very ill. then it might take a few more days. but to me, my GB surgery was a piece of cake compared to my sleeve.
  4. 75 grams of carbs is still "low carb." anything less than 100 grams is low. i never recommend low fat. moderate fat intake (60 grams) is needed for blood sugar stability, feeling full, production of hormones and neurotransmitters and good overall nervous system functioning, but they should be good quality fats... from whole foods... not processed food products. nut butters, olive oil, coconut oil, butter from grass fed cows... no corn oils, trans fatty acids, margarine, shortening, soy bean oil, etc.

Hello, I think I need Help

if you have not tried counseling, please do! it seems you are experiencing a grief reaction and really need help with that. if you can gain some understanding of why you are using food to cope right now, you may be able to let go of your unhealthy eating habits and move on. good luck!

    2 Questions..

some people say they love how they feel in ketosis... i felt like i was licking garbage can lids! and i felt high. stoned. and not from the pain meds. a sense of unreality. i made popsicles from the coconut water too. (it was july)
  9. hypoglycemia means LOW blood sugar. it means you arent eating enough carbs to keep your blood sugar up. some people make too much insulin and have surges when they eat. its called reactive hypoglycemia. i had it when i was pregnant. you need to eat more carbs. eat carbs from whole unprocessed foods. 20-30 grams isnt enough to even feed your brain. increase to 50-70 grams and see if it changes how you feel. make sure you do it first thing in the AM, since you are probably waking up with low blood sugar. as the PP said, always eat a carb and a protein together.

    2 Questions..

ketosis! gives you a nasty yucky dry taste in your mouth. it will go away when you can start getting some carbs back in your diet. try drinking coconut water (not the sweetened kind, the plain kind).
  12. bright yellow pee can be from the B vitamins in your multi. dark yellow, strong smelling pee is a different story. that means you arent getting enough fluids. i drink a lot of hot tea. my fav is chai, but i like green tea, some fruit teas, mint teas, earl grey, etc. i drink it with 1-2 tsp of honey and chai with milk. also try coconut water. not the sweetened kind, just plain coconut water. its the perfect re-hydration fluid. i also drink a glass of milk every day. try yogurt, fruit, veggies like cucumbers and peppers. all these things will help with your fluid total.

How often do you weigh yourself?

2-3 times a week. i dont fret much over what i see, since the general trend is down. i do know some people need to weigh every day so they can stay mindful of what they are doing. others i see totally obsess and beat the crap out of themselves if they dont see what they want on the scale. i dont know if there is any answer that works for everyone. i guess its all about how it works for you.

I'm lost! What's next after this?

it really totally depends on where you go. many people find that the nutritional counseling is very helpful, some not so much. the really important part is learning to track every bite you eat and learning which foods have how much Protein, Fiber, etc so you know what to eat after surgery and how to track what you are eating . if i were you, i would request a different nut. that might not help, but you never know.

    Gym Journey

i started with yoga and swimming. i was doing yoga right up until my surgery, so i was excited to get back to it. i also did walking and a dance class. then added weigh lifting. the important thing in the beginning is to keep hydrated! now i am able to drink lost of water no problem, but in the beginning, it was a struggle.

    Bananas

you probably want to post in the appropriate forum for your type of wls. (this is a general forum) you should probably schedule an appt with your surgeon's office and nutritionist so you can review what you are and arent doing post surgery.

I'm lost! What's next after this?

it depends of if you are self pay or insurance is paying. (and what country you are in) in the US, usually insurance requires you have some sort of nutritional counseling and track your intake in some way. self pay you could be required to nothing or the same stuff as insurance people. i went to a center of excellence and we were required to go to nutritional group counseling, see a nutritionist 1:1 at least twice and track our food intake for at least 3 months. we were required to be cleared by the nut before we could have surgery, (along with the psych and medical staff).

    Disappointing show, everyone still fat!

a number of years ago, i went to see my doctor... one i hadnt seen since i was pregnant with my son, when i was not overweight. at the time i needed to lose maybe 40-50 pounds. we were discussing hormonal issues and dealing with stress... and i said, "maybe if my life wasnt just a big ball of stress i wouldnt be so fat!" you could tell from his response that vey few patients are willing to be so open about their weight issues. i dont know that i ever realized that. i have always been really candid with my doctors about my fatness, but i know now, that isnt the case with everyone. many people, even those who have had WLS are really sensitive about it and arent able to be humorous or lighthearted and take offense when i would not. the word fat doesnt bother me. but many people are bothered by it. and that is just the way it is.

I am doing this to help me become fertile. Anyone else ?

i can tell you that after losing 75 pounds i am clearly having fertile cycles again. at 48 i was not desiring this, but its means my body is back in hormonal balance again. luckily my H is fixed! lol
  21. you should go see your doctor. a friend was having these anxiety symptoms and turns out she has hyperthyroid. hashimoto's disease is suspected. if its not, you should still see your doctor for meds and a referral to a therapist, no one needs to suffer with anxiety. most of us medicated with food, now that you dont have this option, you need to find new ways to cope.

Hair Loss - A Harsh Reality. Picture of Loss.

i am near 8 months post surgery and my hair loss has stopped and is nearly not noticeable. it was not any different than what happens after you give birth. it was upsetting and stressful, but not the end of the world. i wore hair bands and scarves and a friend made me a "titchel." i didnt freak out too much. losing weight and not being obese was much more important to me. in the bog picture, it didnt figure much. i thought about the people i knew with cancer who lost all their hair and i got some perspective.

    Stalls are a myth!

the bigger you are the faster you lose weight in the beginning. so its easy to get upset when you see someone has lost 150 pounds when you have lost 75 in the same amount of time. but then you discover that person weighed 200 more pounds than you did at the time of surgery. that makes a huge difference.

All these complications...is it worth it?

well, it really depends on your complications due to being obese. if you feel the possible benefits of the surgery outweigh the possible complications (i wouldnt consider hair loss or rumbling stomach a complication... those are due to the surgery or the rapid weight loss. a complication is a life threatening condition that is due to the surgery) then the surgery might be for you. as far as i can tell, there arent any benefits to remaining morbidly obese, and lots of ways to die from it. this surgery isnt for those who need it, this surgery is for those who are ready to take a radical step to treat their obesity. for most of us, the risk is worth it, since we were taking lots of risks every single day we lived with obesity. the only people i have seen so far that arent happy with their results are those who arent ready to face their food addiction or have other mental illness or personality disorders that affect how they perceive the changes in their life after surgery.
