    Hardest thing for you?

the very hardest thing? that i feel fearful every day of regain. i dont think about it very long, or i might end up hiding in my bed crying. everything else is just a matter of adjustment or an intermittent thing.

    Hardest thing for you?

try konjac root (it's a fiber supplement from a plant). i take 2000 mg every day and i went from having problems all the time to once in a while. i am also considering adding "triphala" an indian supplement made from 3 fruits. both these things are safe to take every day. (you can get them from vitacost.com)

Did working out slow your weight loss?

i work out to be healthy, stay strong and reduce my muscle mass loss. i dont worry about my weight loss, people in a hospital bed lose weight, doesnt mean they are healthy.
  7. you can make your own protein shake with silken tofu and stevia. just dont use fruit to sweeten in the beginning. its too much sugar. use cocoa powder (unsweetened), powdered PB, flavor extracts, fresh mint etc for flavoring.

    Late Leaks? Freaking out!

however, illness and death caused by obesity is not rare. its pretty common in fact. its all about what risks you are willing to incur.

    What was the point?

you may be in starvation mode. which means your body is going to hold on to every ounce. i would switch to pureed Protein (skip the nutrient empty cream of wheat) and get in as much protein and Water as possible. aim for 80 grams and 80 ounces. make sure you're getting in some good fat... avocado, coconut oil or egg yolk. fat and protein are two signals to your body that you arent starving, so make sure you getting it in! you might want to cut back your exercising (you are walking?) to 30 mins and see if you have better results. or change up what you are doing. try something different. i wouldnt do both at the same time. i would play with both of these factors one at a time and see if either one changes anything for you. this is your body, your life and you need to be proactive in figuring out what works for you personally. dont waste your energy getting angry, use your energy to figure out how to be successful. no one else is gonna make this work for you, its up to you.

    Giving Up your favorite foods

thus is the depth of our dependance on food to cope with everyday life. and so that is why you must start thinking of ways to soothe yourself without food before surgery. have you given this any thought? its good to journal about, talk with a trusted friend, google for ideas. you cant be too prepared.

    Giving Up your favorite foods

yup, that what miss... not so much pad thai, but eating a huge amount of rice noodles. or the yummy subs at the end of the block... i miss stuffing myself on them. its not a "my hearts gonna break" kinda missing... its a "damn that would be nice, but oh well" kinda thing. not very intense. like someone said, no food ever tasted as good as how i feel having lost 80 pounds. so i miss the huge amounts of food, but not all that much. and i should say, now that i eat mindfully, i really ENJOY what i am eating. i savor every bite slowly and thoughtfully. being able to linger slowly over a tiny slice of cheesecake is way way better than shoveling it in a gulping it down half chewed. today on the way home from yoga and shopping i ate a handful of almonds and a small square of super dark chocolate. i tasted every salty, crunchy nut and let the chocolate slowly melt in my mouth. it was yummy and i really enjoyed it more than wolfing down a super sweet candy bar.
  14. awesome! good luck!

    Week 5 Questions

again i think you are filling up on stuff that isnt giving you any of the much needed protein. but you should talk to your nut or doc. instead of starting the day with carbs, start with a 1/2 yogurt or an egg. if you eat a fruit flavored yogurt, there are plenty of carbs in there. you dont need toast or cereal. cheese is ggod for the dairy/calcium but lower in protein than say a piece of deli turkey. if you find you cant get much in, then you want t eat the highest protein foods you can tolerate... deli turkey, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, eggs, beans. carbs dont have to be from cream of wheat or toast... you can get carbs from a piece of fruit, honey in tea, beans... etc. beans can be a great choice because you can get protein, carbs and fiber all in one food. i would suggest you maybe discuss your food choices with your nut an get a better feel for higher protein intake. (dont forget to track just how many grams of protein you are getting each day)

    What exactly does "tolerate" mean?

for the rest of your life you will need to eat slow.
  22. moonlitestarbrite

    What exactly does "tolerate" mean?

anywhere from 30 seconds to 25 minutes. this is different from my husband who has wheat and corn food intolerances. his reactions are some sort of food allergy... a systemic reactipn. mine is one rhat was caused by my surgery. sometimes these go away. sometimes not. bananas still do not sit right, but i can eat cooked cauliflower, which made me pretty uncomfortable much closer to surgery. yup.
