  5. Oh my... I really wanted to not comment as I always try to be postive and understanding. Maybe it is because I am dealing with someone like you in my personal life right now. But everything that everyone is telling you seem to have a justification for it and it is not your fault. When in fact it all is your fault. That behavior is the root of your problem. The poor choices you are making and your excuses are setting you up for failure not just in weight loss but life. Grow up take responsability for your actions. Everyone goes through struggles it is how you overcome them that matters and show what kind of person you are. Sorry to sound so harsh, Good luck hope you work through this and come out better and stronger.

    july 2013 sleevers

My hair is shedding too. I am just trying to up the protein and taking biotin. As long as it looks decent I will be ok. Now if I start to look mangey I may freak out about it. As far as eating goes, I can eat anything. Nothing has seemed to affect my tummy in a negative way. Which is sometimes a bad thing. I find that PMS takes over and I tend to eat "bad" foods those fews days but really what woman doesn't crave something during that time. Now instead of a candy bar then 2 more because of guilt I eat a funsize, small amount, of whatever and I am good. Other than that I can stay on track because the cravings are not really a problem otherwise. I have never tracked my food and have always allowed myself a treat within moderation and the rest is fuel (i.e. healthy and balanced). I made a promise to myself before surgery that I would never beat myself up again over food. Living my life that way and having a better outlook when it comes to food, heck life, has been the best thing for me and has kept me sane. 46 lbs in 3 months is an awesome accomplishment and don't let your self doubt take that victory away from you! You still have a tiny little tummy in there that can only hold small amounts of food! Use that tool and just get back on track. This is a life long commitement and your little tummy isn't skipping out on you because you haven't been eating as you should. So don't skip out on yourself. Hang in there and know we all fall the wagon so to speak. You seem like you are off to a great start! 46lbs ain't nothing to sneeze at! You got this!
  8. Yes there are other threads related to this. Same thing happened to me. After surgery pathlogy found it. I didn't start the meds until six week after because they did not sit to well on my stomach and I needed to have food in there to keep them down. It was a pain in the butt (I hate swallowing pills!) but I trudged on through! I haven't had my follow up yet with the doc to make sure all is well. I am sure it is. Good luck to you and hope that this is just a little bump in the road and all will be well.

    6 Days Post Op

It gets easier! Try not to focus on protein and focus on staying hydrated. As long as you are getting some protein then you are doing fine. I struggled with it too. We all do. Your stomach is so swollen and is not functioning like normal because you just cut most of it out! It will start healing and getting the fluids and protein in will be easy and then before you know it you will feel like you never had surgery. I am a little over 2 months out and I feel like a whole new person! I feel great! I eat normal foods and get my protein and water in effortlessly albeit my serving size is drastically smaller. Just keep some liquids on hand and drink all day. Protein when you can and stay positve. Remember you just had major surgery and need to heal. Good luck and hang in there!
  10. I can relate! I am currently on the prev pak too! It is after surgery though so once I take the pills I feel bad for an hour after. Metal taste nasty tasting burps. They take up so much of my stomach but if I take on empty stomach they come right back up. I damned either way! Wish I had found out before surgery but they found it after. Doc said my removed stomach looked very inflammed and pathology confirmed it was from H Pylori. I am like you I hope that it clears it up! These 2 weeks are not so much fun! Hang in there and before we know it all will be ok and we will be done with meds!

    anyone from Killeen, Tx.

Hi I am from Temple! Right down the road! Are you military? Who is your PCP with? If they are Scott and White you can go to the numerous clinics they have for all your testing and just get an ROI filed out and have everything sent to Dallas. I worked at the main S&W Killeen for a couple of years. If you have any questions I am more than happy to help as much as I can. I had my done in Austin 2 months ago! I LOVE my sleeve!

    2 months already!

Well I am just shy of 2 months! I have made it to my first mini goal! Yay! So excited! I am and proud that I actually made it! I still am struggling to get in exercise! I know I need to but time is not my friend right now. I literally am so busy right now with everything else. My husband is going through some sort of something right now and I am picking up his slack. ALL the house chores and cooking is falling on me. Not to mention soccer pratice, homework, and giving the kids baths ect. You parents know the deal. It's like I am a single parent right now! He is not happy about his weight and I think seeing me losing and becoming more postive and happy has him in the dumps. He isn't being ugly to me or making me feel guilty but he seems a little checked out. I have mentioned to him about the slacking off but I am trying to let him work through this funk. I am however feeling a little stretched and I am going to snap soon! He is complaining about his weight all the time. It's like he is becoming me before surgery! Hopefully I can inspire him to change his lifestyle and this is just a phase before he snaps out of it and starts to. Well enough of that! It is just something I never thought would happen when I started this. I didn't think it would affect him this way. Well back to me! lol So my next mini goal is 199! That's right ONEDERLAND! Oh to see those numbers on my scale! What a happy day! So hopefully in the next couple of months I am going to make that happen! I want to make it there or under by Christmas! It is my Christmas present to myself! So my stats so far are... Pre-Op -7lbs Size 20 pant 1-2x tops 1 Month -26lbs Size 18/16 XL 2 Month -12lbs Size 16/14 regular L no PLUS SIZE! And 45 lbs lighter! Can't wait to see what next month loss will be! Happy Friday Y'all!

    2 months already!

Doodle I know the feeling! Seems the week before and the few days after complication stories were everywhere! Plus if I had a pain I would wonder is that this or that! I had to stop that madness and focus on getting healed! You will be past that danger zone soon! Prayers to you and stay positive and focus on getting healed up! Complications are rare and most of the time are caught pretty quickly and resolved! You got this surgery to live a healthy happy life put your focus on that and soon that will be you too!

    2 months already!

Thanks everyone...Fred he has mentioned surgery but I don't think mentally he can do what is required. Atleast at this stage. He has a well check this month and I think he knows he is not healthy. Last year he was 20lbs lighter and more active yet his cholesterol blood pressure and liver levels were all pretty high he was also pre-diabetic. This year I am sure the numbers are worse just from weight gain. My hubby will always be the best thing since sliced bread no matter his weight! However it is hard to see him go from a healthy fit Marine who ran 3 miles a day, to now with all these looming health problems. I have always been the one in our marriage that had the weight problems. The roles have reversed some what and it takes an adjustment. Crazy the dips and turns life throws your way! He was there for me and still is, so no doubt I will be there with him!

    2 months already!

Thank you! I am glad you are reading them! I had my days where I worried about that too! Sometimes we let our fear of the what ifs take over. God is in control and all you need to do is focus on getting all healed up and progressing through your diet, oh and drinking! I'll pray for you too! I bet a month out you will be beaming with postives! So far this is the best decision I have ever made and I am loving life! Chin up and good luck to you!
  16. Yeah I loved my gummies but was told to not use them after surgery and the chewable ones make me sick no matter what. I have tried all kinds. Thinking about having to take them makes my stomach turn! Having a full stomach is helping the most. I still have a vague nausea for a bit after but without food they come right back up. Other than eating a meal then taking them I have no solution. I just went back to my gummies after a month figured it is better than not taking them at all.
  17. I had my mom with me for 2 weeks but I could have managed on my own with the kids (mine are 7 and 18months). I was driving after the first few days. I was not 100% for the first couple of weeks but the worst days were in the first week (days 2-4 were pretty rough). I would just get tired really fast and needed a nap in the afternoon. By the 2nd week I was out shopping and even went to the waterpark with the kids for 2 hours. As long as your fiance will be there some to help I think you will be fine. As far as the incision, and pain it will be like gallbladder surgery. But not having many calories (which means no energy) trying to drink my fluids and not sleeping well is what I remember being the worst part. Good luck to you!
  18. Yes I just found out I have it. I havent had my script filled because I am having to get the doc to revise it. The pills are too HUGE! I found out because she said my stomach had inflammation when they removed it and pathology came back postive. It made me nervous because I know it can lead to ulcers and with what little tummy we have we don't need ulcers. The treatment is suppose to get rid of it though. Did you have symptoms? I have mild unexplained nausea for little over a year. My PCP never tested me for it so it went undiagnosed until surgery.
  19. Well follow your plan and just think you are almost at the half way mark! I love my sleeve so far and think is was the best decision I made for me. Some days are better than others but hey that is life! Good luck to you with your sleeve! I think you will not regret your decision!
  20. So it has been 6 weeks and 6 days since surgery! I have lost a total of 35 pounds since surgery! Pretty impressive and I am 3 pounds from my first mini goal of 220. It has been over 8 years since I have weighed that and I was 13 weeks pregnant with my first child. It was my first weigh in and pre natal Dr. appt. and I was SHOCKED I weighed that much! Now I am so excited to see that number! Talk about perspective! I remember crying the whole way home! Now those tears will be joy! Well on to the NOW! The things that I am dealing with as I am more healed and eating "normal"... I am losing and I get to the point of feeling "normal" and dare I say comfortable. Then I get on here read something and get all paranoid and start 2nd guessing myself. I know that we are all different in how we lose weight, how we got to the point of choosing surgery, and how we will lose with surgery. The common thread here is we are all/were obese and we all had sleeve surgery. I have been not getting on this site and fining my own way. I want to continue to document my feelings but I am at the stage were I need to find a comfortable way to live and still lose the weight. Now, having said that this site has helped me so much! I kind of take the good and the bad and try to filter the crap out. I am not blaming this site for my doubt but ME for letting myself get caught up with this site and not listening to my body and my medical team. Since surgery I have NEVER been told by my NUT or Doctor to eat low carb high protein diet. Aim for 60-80 grams of protein and 64oz of water yes but no limit on carbs. I don't usually have room for more than a bite anyway. They said protein first, veggies/fruit, and then carb. Make good choices and eat a balanced diet. They never said restrict calories to such and such a day, do not eat over 1/4 or whatever cups of food. They said everyone is different and gave me a chart of what their average patient eats after surgery and at what stage. They did talk to me about sliders and how no one even people who haven't had surgery should avoid these foods. I am pretty smart and I know healthy meals from crap so I don't know why I think because I eat a piece of bread one day that I have sabatoged my weight loss and will FAIL! So yes the last few weeks have been plagued with this self doubt! I am working through that! I have had some pretty big losses! The first week I lost 14 pounds! This week I lost 5! But I also have had the dreaded stall! I lost nothing and even gained a pound around week 3 into 4! But it came off and ironically the next day after I ate the evil carb infested multi grain toast for breakfast! go figure. Hunger has come back but it is different. The first month I don't think I was ever really hungry. had some head hunger but nothing more than that. The past couple of weeks I do get hungry but it's not that crazy hungry where I will want to eat a horse! It just a tiny little pang in my tummy and chest. If I don't heed the warning and eat a bite I get shaky and get very run down. These hunger pangs don't happen everyday. Some days I feel like not eating at all. I never get hungry and never really want food. I am making myself eat something on those days. Then some days I feel like my body needs the food and I eat more on those days. Food taste better on those days too! I followed this trend last week. On the days I felt hunger and felt I needed food I lost and days I didn't want food and didn't eat hardly anything I didn't lose. I only usually weigh once a week but it was an experiement last week! It was interesting and taught me what I already knew! My body knows best! So while I am not an expert on weight loss surgery or how to lose the most weight and fast I do know MY body. So this week I am going to listen to it and see how things go. Oh I still like my little piece of chocolate in the evening! I don't eat it every night but I will not ever let myself feel guilty when I do from here on out! This self doubt and guilt crap was before and I will not let it get the best of me now!
  21. Yes bigsleeve56 living life and not focusing on food is the real goal! Well for me anyway! But I am a woman! You know we are some strange creatures! One minute we are hot next we are cold! I have let self doubt instead of common sense rule my head the past week or so. I'm going to get back on track and get back to my happy place! Don't need to fix what ain't broke!

    ALMOST there

Love reading your blogs! You are doing and looking amazing!
  23. I changed the font and it still came out little! Hope you can read it I barely could see what I was typing!
  24. Everything you are feeling is normal! I promise because I felt all those emotions. My doctor calmed me down and said you are more likely to get in a major wreck in I-35 coming to the hospital (aka as the worst highway ever!) then to die from this surgery. Is there risks, ofcourse. With any surgery even wisdom teeth removal. They are low and the risk of being overweight and dying of co-morbility is higher. These emotional will go up and down as surgery gets closer and closer! Think of what lead you to this and focus on that. As far as being put under it went like this I was wheeled into the OR and was freezing! Everyone introduced themselves got me on the table and Dr. Feel Good said I am going to put a little something in your IV to relax you. I blinked and woke up in PACU. I felt and remembered nothing! Recovery was not fun but I was not expecting to be and after a week I was ok still a little sore. After 3 weeks I was fine, tired mainly, not sore. Six weeks out I physcially feel I never had surgery. As for family it may be their way of coping. My husband was kinda like that with me. He was just scared and didn't want to let on so he acted like it was no big deal. I found this out after surgery. When I was in PACU the nurse there said that man of yours must love you he called back here atleast 6 times to make sure you were ok! So cut them some slack and don't let their feeling or lack of take away from your choice to have or not have surgery. Good luck!
