DonRodolfo replied to Seela's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They told me very strongly that it would cause more air.. pain.. less consumption etc..etc..etc.. same line same hook. Guess I'll just go along for now I was told the same. Do what your surgeon tells you! -

Thoughts On Drinking Through A Straw?

i was bound and determined after surgery to do what I was told so I had my log and I was drinking my Water faithfully. With my Camelbak water bottle. Where the contents are delivered - via a straw. No issues, however, do what you doctor tells you. -
Until I saw the bra strap, i thought you had posted a picture of me! (love the annotations, by the way! )

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey On Woot 11/15/13
DonRodolfo replied to Richard Foor's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You might want to call your surgeon's office as you will get different answers from different people here. I was released to full liquids so in addition to water, Protein Shakes, sugar-free Jello, popcicles i was allowed Soup that was blended and had any lumps, bumps, or chunks strained out of it. -
I am new to the FitBit world and have had my Force for a week. I like it. I will continue to use my Polar Heartrate monitor at the gym, however.

I started this year at 416lbs. I am now 256. My goal is to get as close to 175 as possible.

Isn't it "wocks-ah-hatch-ee"? If you pronounce the first syllable where it sounds like "whacks" people in that town lose their minds

Five-months out - 1/4 of a bacon cheeseburger (no bun) and 2 onion rings. Enough leftovers for 3 more meals.

Over 400Lbs Gastric Sleeve Success Story
DonRodolfo replied to jasminem89's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Persistence. Better advice to give you than telling you how to lose large amounts of weight is to have realistic expectations from the jump. For example, yes, you're actually going to gain weight in the hospital and yes it will come off within a week or so. Also, a stall is not when you haven't lost weight in two days. If you're going to be one of those psychos that insist on weighing yourself everyday then at least measure yourself everyday as well. If, in a six-week period, you've gained weight or not lost any and your measurements haven't moved, then you've stalled (my surgeon's advice, check with yours for the final word). Anything less than that is nothing to be concerned about. -

That is a picture of the list here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/89017-dfw-area-weight-loss-surgery-support-groups-list/ which contains all the pages. Lots of opportunities in the DFW area to find sleeve buddies! -

Looking for an unflavored protein powder that wont clump when added to soups. Any thoughts?
DonRodolfo replied to LesIsMore's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Stay away from Unjury unflavored - lots of issues with clumping even at lower temperatures. Recently I tried an unflavored from GNC and as long as you blend it like it says in then instructions, it's really good - it doesn't add any flavor but adds creaminess to whatever you put it in. I wanted to be sure it had no flavor so I mixed it with plain Water to try it an was surprised. -
DFW TX Surgeon selection? (Dallas / Ft. Worth)
DonRodolfo replied to Better than dead's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Nicholson is one of the big names in the DFW area. I want to throw my surgeon's name into the mix, Dr. Manuel Castro-Arreola at http://www.nbsurgical.com/. Many people I mention his name to are not familiar with him but the reason I went to him in the first place was on the recommendation of a coworker and his wife who both got sleeved by him. He is a soft-spoken man but very professional. His office staff are the nicest of any doctor's office staff I've ever met. I highly recommend you visit the website and attend one of his "meet the surgeon" seminars. -
I gained weight after surgery?
DonRodolfo replied to AdrianaNaji's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's normal. Within a week you'll see a huge drop in weight and it will (more slowly than that) start coming off. -
Well said, Sir! I too am a treadmill fan.

Nervous about slow weight loss
DonRodolfo replied to IpswichPav's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to tell you what one of my surgeons told me at my last visit. If in a 6-week period of time you have not lost any weight or have gained weight and your measurements aren't moving or are getting bigger THEN you can say you're having issues. Our weight fluctuates too much from day to day to declare failure any sooner than 6 weeks. I weight myself every day but only consider the Friday weigh-in the official one. My weight doesn't always do what I want it to but I can sure see it in how loosely my clothes fit.
