I am a big fan of the GNC AMP Wheybolic Extreme 60 chocolate - it's the best tasting Protein Drink I've found using just Water. Add milk and it's amazing! I've also found that I don't like ANY of the vanilla-flavored protein shakes, no matter the brand. Also, the Syntrax nectar are really good. I'm a fan of the Roadside Lemonade, Caribbean Cooler, and Fuzzy Navel flavors.

shakes are awful surgery may 28
DonRodolfo replied to brutallyhonest's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is on the 28th as well and I'm on day 2 of my 2-week preop diet. My surgeon gave me two bags of Bariatric Advantage shakes to live on, I picked chocolate and iced latte. I was told I could blend them with fruit or mix them with milk but not both. I've found with almost every brand of Protein shake that mixing with milk (even no-fat or skim) is better than Water. Good luck to you! -
These are a better alternative (and taste a whole lot better): https://www1.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/group/77102/

That's a lot to have on your plate at once. Best of the best to you in both! -
Sleevers over 300lbs?
DonRodolfo replied to dstined4gr8tnes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started at 416, and there are folks here that started higher than me. You are definitely not alone! My surgeon suggested bypass to me as well but I insisted on having the sleeve. -

I started mine today as well - 2 weeks, Protein shakes only, fruit blended in OR milk is okay, not both. 64oz Water minimum. Feeling a little tired and week, and waking up with allergies is not helping, but what I want more than anything right now is SOME CAFFEINE!

Hit a goal but broke- Ideas for free/cheap celebrations?

I think yours is a brilliant suggestion. Something to look back on for encouragement when a person is feeling less motivated. -
Anyone try the Fitbit Flex?
DonRodolfo replied to noellegz1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just my opinion, but to me it seems the Fitbit Flex is nothing more than an overglorified pedometer. I get more value from my heart rate monitor and it was cheaper. -

I also live in a two-story home and asked this same question. I was told it should be okay but to remember the carry limitations.

Recently dx with sleep apnea
DonRodolfo replied to Phoenix79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is going to sound ridiculous to you but please hear me out: why not try putting it on while you're sitting around relaxing in the evening before bed? Maybe watch TV or read while you have it on for a little while just to get used to it? You would think the first thing I do when I wake up is rip off the mask but I don't. I'll lay there for awhile as I'm waking up as I'm that comfortable with it after almost 6 years. -
We all need to be getting active before surgery - at my first NUT appointment, she said start walking 10 minutes per day. The first few weeks were h*ll but now I'm up to 23 minutes. If you think you can do Zumba, give it a shot - just be careful if you haven't done it in awhile. But definitely do something.

How long to take off of work?
DonRodolfo replied to LMarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said 2 weeks. People I've talked to that used the same doctor said they felt like going back to work just a few days later. YMMV. -

I would be very suspicious of any website that offers free MP3s. That being said, you can make your own MP3s from CDs or download from pay-sites.
