Clear liquid day before surgery
DonRodolfo replied to heatwhip's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll be there in a few days - hang in there, you're almost on the other side! -
I'm on day 8 of my 2 week liquid diet - it's gonna suck for the first 3-4 days then you're gonna be amazed at how good you feel fueling yourself on less than you're used to. Liquid Tylenol helps with the headaches and body aches (don't go nuts with it) and if you feel like you can't hold out any longer get yourself a cup of low-sodium chicken broth and cut it with a half cup of water. It's amazing how something this simple will help! Keep something in mind - you going through this misery now lessens you having to go through it the first few days you're recovering after surgery. Imagine the people who ate what they wanted until the last minute and then had surgery. On top of dealing with the soreness and all that goes with recovery they have to deal with the headaches and misery from being hungry as well? No thanks! It gets better - hang in there!

Not preaching at you - just thought someone would find it funny (thus the " "). -

No, but it'll cost you another 30 minutes (or however much time it takes to burn off the calories) of cardio activity the next time you're at the gym. If you're far out enough to eat it without hurting yourself AND willing to pay the price above, have at it! -
FANTASTIC! You're absolutely right - just take the first step and your mind will follow. I can't tell you how many times that very thing has gotten me to the gym. Keep doing it and after enough times you'll actually want to exercise and it'll be a pleasurable thing you look forward to. Well done!

You didn't think you'd be allowed to post this without a request for an update, did you? This 50-year-old 368lb geezer did the treadmill thing yesterday AND walked 3/4 mile around the neighborhood with the wife. What have you done exercise wise since your original post?

I have an embarassing question...

If a 370 pound 50-year old geezer like me can drag his fat behind to the gym and do 25 minutes on the treadmill you can go outside and walk for 10 minutes. That's all you gotta do today, go outside and walk for 10 minutes.

Welcome! I'm on day 6 of my 2 week preop diet. I'm just now getting to the point where I'm not miserable most of the day - I have my moments. And I've learned to appreciate chicken broth.

New and I don't want to *Look So Old!*
DonRodolfo replied to WeeWers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've thought about it. Many of the people I know do look older than they did when they were heavy, but to me, it's a small price to pay. An older but leaner me is going to look way better than a fat plump me not to mention the health benefits. -
They count as your Fluid, so enjoy!

I feel like this is getting real now!
DonRodolfo replied to Dallasgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go to the one at Methodist Hospital off of Beckley and Colorado Ave. They have one every 3rd Tuesday of the Month from 6p-7:30pm in the Weiss Auditorium. Great place to ask questions of people who have had surgery as well as bariatric nurses that attend. Anyone who has had surgery or is going to and their families are welcome to attend and it's free. -
Got some of these, they come in Orange, Grape, and Fruit Punch flavors. They are VERY tart (mixing in with some Water makes it less so) but are not terrible. They have 25g Protein, 0g fat, 0g carbs with a PDCAAS score of 100. I don't believe you can find them in any store, but they can be ordered at Bariatric Advantage (https://www1.bariatr...og/group/77102/) I'll be ordering more of these for Post-Op!

DonRodolfo replied to DonRodolfo's topic in Food and Nutrition
You can post a link that shows Yes Whey contains collagen-based protein or is this your opinion (you said "likely"). -

Were you planning on going to/have you been to any of the support groups in the area? I went to my first one at Methodist last month, planning on going to the one this month as well. -

Howdy from Forney, Dallasgal! -
Ask your doctor but it should be safe as long as you're not trying to carry it!
