My NUT said you really get only about 11g of protein per tube. As SpaceDust said, Yes Whey is a better choice.

Oil, KY Jelly, Astroglide, whatever works for you!

Why do you believe you may have a leak in your sleeve?

When is your surgery?
-
I was discharged from the hospital to full liquids. I'd recommend Isopure, Syntrax nectar, and AMP Wheybolic Extreme 60 chocolate made with Water or milk. I very highly recommend unjury unflavored Protein powder because shakes can get old day after day after day. You can mix a scoop into chicken broth or miso Soup.

This has been a magical week!

Screen getting blurry over here. (I love reading positive stories like this! Keep up the good work!) -
When will I learn how to eat?
DonRodolfo replied to vegasneon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved the day after you and you're on pureed already?! My surgeon still has me on full liquids for another few days until two weeks are up. Are all foods causing you pain or just certain ones? -
Discouraged and Embarrassed
DonRodolfo replied to ElaineB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting, I had the same issue after surgery but only for a few hours. Two and a half IV bags and I could only pee a teaspoon full. They did an ultrasound on my bladder and it was bone dry! They said they would catheter me if I couldn't do better. It worked itself out hours later but I didn't start peeing until later when I got home. -
Still sore from the IV

I consider it making up for the one time about a year ago when I went to my doctor's office for labs and she stuck me THREE TIMES in each arm for blood AND THEN decided to get someone with more experience! Apparently being dehydrated makes it harder for them to stick you properly - lesson learned! -
When I think of puréed chicken, I'm thinking a chicken salad except that the pieces are smaller. Or some sort of chicken or cream of chicken Soup with smaller pieces of chicken. I'm sure you could do something similar with turkey. pureed beef is just going to be just finger pieces of ground beef that you could put in a chili. Okay I tried! I'm hoping someone will pop in here and chime in with ideas. It might be in the morning until that happens tho.

Still sore from the IV
DonRodolfo replied to WillInAtlanta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if it was luck of the draw or what, but neither the week before when they took blood for labs nor the day of surgery did they hurt me too much with needles. And absolutely no bruising afterwards either time - I was shocked. -
I was on clear liquids the 24 prior to surgery and while in the hospital. I was discharged to full liquids. Not to be a nag, but you need to follow your surgeons instructions. If he said pureed for 2 to 4 weeks, do it. Looks like your surgeon does things differently than mine but it doesn't matter. If you need ideas for pureed food, there's probably threads here at VST with ideas. Good luck to you!

What mistysj said above is true - get into ketosis and you'll be back to normal at the gym. The hunger, crabbyness, headaches will be gone and you'll have your energy back. Make sure you read this - it'll be worth your time: The pre-op diet is NOT a punishment ... it's an opportunity. You're almost there!

Flavorless protein powder,
DonRodolfo replied to thedivinemsQ's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
unjury unflavored works, but you can't put it into anything that is hotter than 140 degrees F or it will clump. I understand that Syntrax has an unflavored version, I might try that next. -
Preop liver reduction

You're very welcome - I wish I had found that BEFORE I did my two week diet! This is a good place, we've been where you are. Don't be ashamed about slip-ups, no one here is perfect. From what you've said, I think you'll be fine but I'm hardly qualified on medical issues. Call your surgeon on Monday, tell them about the cheating to avoid any complications, and see what they say. -
Protein powders/ shakes...looking for suggestions/ ideas please
DonRodolfo replied to oopsydaisy77's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I am a big fan of GNC's AMP Wheybolic Extreme 60 chocolate. This is the best tasting chocolate I've found even with just Water. With milk (skim or no fat) it's quite nice. What kind did you get from GNC? I recommend getting some unflavored Protein powder. I use the unjury brand but I heard recently that Syntrax has an unflavored version. You can mix either into chicken broth to bump up the protein. Also from Syntrax I *HIGHLY* recommend you try several of the flavors that mix with water. I like the Roadside Lemonade myself. -

Does the pain go away in about 30 seconds to a minute? If so, you might be drinking too much as a time. Try sipping and waiting, sipping and waiting.

pre op liquid diet day 1 sucks big fat gonads
DonRodolfo replied to newlife27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You shouldn't feel this bad the entire 10 days, just the first 3 or 4. You'll be surprised how good you feel on so little nourishment after that. You'll have energy too!
