Protein powders/ shakes...looking for suggestions/ ideas please
DonRodolfo replied to oopsydaisy77's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
If I did the math correctly, 2.99oz is a little over 3 scoops which the instructions say to mix with 12oz of liquid. Since it's a sample, go ahead and try it that way. With the bag or the tub, I do 2 scoops to 8oz of liquid instead of the 3 scoops and 12oz liquid. Which unflavored did you get? With the unjury unflavored, I wouldn't bother mixing it into anything less than 8oz of whatever at 140 degrees or less. For best results, blend it (Magic Bullet, etc.) - stirring it in just doesn't cut it. -
Surg tomorrow clear liquid diet today

Can you go get yourself some Isopure? -
Only about two more days to go before the hunger, weakness, and headaches go away. You'll feel as well as you did before the diet and be amazed at how well you do on how little you're consuming.

This may be a stupid question, but how much peanut butter are y'all able to eat at one time?

I have never stared at a glass of water with such hatred.

Someone around here way smarter than me once said they added Crystal Light (or was it Mio) to their water not so much for taste, but to make it easier to drink. Have you tried it? -
so everybody pretty much starts eating norm...

Not trying to give you a hard time here, but you might want to call your surgeon and discuss your postop diet. I believe most people are supposed to be having Protein shakes, strained soups, and other full liquids but certainly not beans of any sort at one week out. Also, you're not supposed to be drinking anything, you're supposed to be sipping. This will help with the pain in your stomach until you are able to drink. I could only do half an ounce the first few days, -

Caitlin, what is it exactly you're trying to eat at this point? -

That couldn't have been mine, I'd never charge you for it. -
What is/was your pre-op diet? Please share.
DonRodolfo replied to BloomingFaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my two week preop diet, I have to buy two bags of Bariatric Advantage brand shakes (my choice of flavors). I was told to have 5 shakes a day and could have low-sodium broth if things got tough. The day before surgery, clear liquids only (Isopure, Crystal light with Protein powder, etc.) -

Societal judgement of "unattractive" versus "attractive" people - a topic on human nature
DonRodolfo replied to Fiddleman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Gee thanks - now I have to deal with this man-crush I now have on you after reading all that! Seriously though, as a fat guy I got used to keep my head down as sort of a defense mechanism. I hope my confidence grows as yours has so I can see what I've been missing. -

<disclaimer> I am not a doctor, I don't play one on TV, nor do I have enough of the correct letters in my name to spell "doctor"</disclaimer> Maybe you're brushing your teeth too much? -

Okay you do not brush 10-15 times per day. -
You probably could have it up until the day before. On top of the normal aches and pains that come with this surgery, you want to deal with a caffeine headache as well? Life is much simpler when you follow your docs rules.

Tips on buying a used elliptical?

LifeFitness is a decent brand used in lots of gyms. Also agree with Laura-ven and Fiddleman, Precor is good as well. Stay away from department store brands. -
Does everyone have to do the preop diet?
DonRodolfo replied to hopingtolose2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not everyone but a lot of people. Had you gone to my surgeon you would have had to do it for only one week because of your bmi. I had to do it for two. The 2 week preop diet is not a bad thing. Click on the related link in my signature about it. It will be worth your time. -
Need some help and support!

I won't judge anyone but you are taking your life in your hands messing with food only days away from surgery. People have ended up in the emergency room from doing this. -
ANYONE ELSE SLEEVED 5/28/13?
DonRodolfo replied to bandtovsgdone52813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 5/28 but no issues with nausea. Dramamine is probably NOT okay to take but there is a drug people here have taken for it. I recommend starting another thread with a title of "Please help with nausea"or something like that and I think that will get you more attention than this thread. Your doctor took responsibility for aftercare by doing this surgery, don't hesitate to keep nagging them until they respond.
