Probably. The water bottle I carry around is a Camelbak and the bitevalve system is pretty much a straw. I've been using it since a few days after surgery without issue.

On-Q cathedar for pain? Did anyone else have this post op?
DonRodolfo replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like a St. Bernard with that pouch around my neck. I got sleeved on Tuesday and I think I pulled it out on Thursday. I was told that when the Fluid was gone from both sides of the ball that it was empty. As far as pain, the day of surgery it felt like a gas pain that would't go away and the pain meds they gave me helped. About a day later I only felt a little soreness (like I had done too many situps the day before) and the liquid hydrocodone made it all better. -
In the hospital they had me in a gown. When I got discharged I wore gym shorts and had no issues with my incisions.

You can start walking in hours - I was doing a lap around the nurses' station every few hours. I was on a treadmill at the gym in a week. You need to be careful with weights in accordance with your weight lifting restrictions.

5 days post op-afraid it didnt work! Feeling TOO normal.
DonRodolfo replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Experiences vary from person to person but yours sounds similar to mine. At first I could only drink half an ounce of Water but was able to progress to a full ounce then a few gulps at a time. Never had any issue with protein shakes and can drink one now as fast as I could preop. Don't push your luck, however. Now is not a good time to test whether you can eat actual food. I hope that you continue to have a noneventful recovery. -

Check this out: http://www.digifit.c...ors.asp#Bundles I have the Wearlink + on the far left. There's an iPhone version two to the right. Something to keep in mind. Most Polar heart rate monitors talk to gym equipment like treadmills, ellipticals, stairmasters, etc I believe Amy's does but mine doesn't.

Maybe it's because you're so beautiful you intimidate younger men but not the older ones?

It might have been that i tried to eat too much of it - it was a cup and i'm definitely convinced I should have done half a cup instead. i'll try again soon. -

Tracy and I enjoyed meeting you too! I agree with you - we look forward to going to next month's meeting. I met only one more person who comes here - do you believe there were more who come here? -

Chili is my friend! :-D I've done really well with bananas, refried beans, and chicken and egg salad. Progressive Lentil soup went down like concrete. Decided to try having 4 Trisquits the other day - that was a painful hour I won't be forgetting soon! -
After reading a few posts here I went in a little apprehensive. Most in attendance had already had surgery except two of us. I felt very welcome and comfortable asking anything.

Preop? If so, as long as it's sugarfree you should be okay.

Trouble in the am with breakfast

Could it be an issue with blood sugar? How are you doing with water? -
I was hoping you'd chime in here, thanks!

That makes me feel better! I was gonna say that that much sugar would make you hungrier but you're way ahead of me - well done!

The first four or so days of the preop diet are miserable. Make it through those and things will be fine afterwards. Are these the Slim Fast shakes you're drinking? http://www.slim-fast.com/products/shakes/Creamy-Milk-Chocolate.aspx If so, 18g of sugar is obscene!

What to look for in protein drinks?
DonRodolfo replied to buckeyefan1985's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You want the highest protein, lowest sugars and carbs possible. Also, it has to taste good to you or you won't keep drinking it. Personally, I've found that I like most brands in chocolate but hate all vanilla regardless of brand. Also, there are Protein shakes that taste better with milk than Water and vice versa. Good starting point: http://bjsbariatrics.com/product/synSamplePack.html Protein shakes tend to be a little pricey but cheap is going to taste cheap, just my opinion. -
Drank too much
DonRodolfo replied to chickenlittle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probably not - I was released from the hospital on full liquids which includes Protein shakes... BUT ...what you are allowed to have when is ALWAYS dictated by your surgeon. He has the final word on your care. -
Let me get under 250lbs and I'm changing the name from DonRodolfo to DonJuan!

I highly recommend the PolarUSA brand. The particular one I have is the Wearlink Bluebooth that talks to the DigiFit app on my Android smartphone. The DigiFit app talks to myfitnesspal so I don't have to enter my workouts into it manually.
