    So im curious....

I completely understand. I'd drink and eat at the time for as long as I could remember. I kinda like it now, I think I can taste the food better. Everyday it amazes me - I eat half a cup of food and it almost feels like I just had Thanksgiving dinner. I don't eat like a girl, I eat less than a girl! I got a one-meat brisket plate last Friday to take home and was still working on leftovers a day ago!

    So im curious....

I am four weeks and a few days out. Before surgery I could easily down a 12 inch sub. Now I'd be lucky to finish just half the meat on a six inch. Forget the bread at this point. So far I haven't noticed any change in my taste except that the idea of consuming large amounts of food at one time no longer interests me.

Single... but to shy to mingle

There's probably more guys than you think going "wow, she's a doll but she'd never talk to me."

    Diet coke

Remember those scenes from the Alien movies where the parasite rips itself from the host through the chest? That's what Diet Coke does to your new sleeve True story.
  5. i'm 50. i've only been sleeved for a little over 4 weeks. I've had to make changes in my life and i will never eat the same again. Would i have the surgery again with what I know now? I'd have it without question. I've proven in the past that I can take off 50 pounds with just a bit of effort. Problem is, it always comes back. The sleeve gives me a fighting chance this time.
  6. The motor-driven ones are starting to become more popular. Personally, if it had the power to destroy a banana like a Magic Bullet does I'd get one. Otherwise, i'm okay with my shaker. Besides making a delicious drink, i get a bicep/tricep workout as well!

    Calories?

Sounds like the dreaded 3 week stall people talk about here. I've been dealing with stalls almost every week since my two-week preop diet. Everyone seems to have a different way to break them. This might be useful: Weight Loss Stall or Plateau Explained

    What are safe laxatives

Miralax and Milk of Magnesia seem to be popular for us at this stage.
  10. Thanks so much for this! I am a little over 4 weeks postop but reading this was inspiring to me.

    Sick of Chicken Broth

How about some Crystal Light mixed with unflavored Protein powder?
  13. Good luck making a shake in the car! (sorry, I have a magic bullet and it's great. i actually have several shakers, two at home, one at work, and one I carry with me when I expect to be out for awhile.)

    Rapid heart beat

First thing I thought of was infection. How's your body temperature?
  15. All you need is a shaker bottle with a ball for the fruity ones. i've never had an issue with clumping with those. can't speak for the chocolate or vanilla flavors.

    Preop Diet

Two-week preop diet, liquids only, day before surgery Clear Liquids only, 14 pounds.
  17. Can't speak for everyone but hungry for me is different now. I still get pangs but they feel different and my head starts to hurt if I've been too long without a meal. Full feels different also - before surgery, full almost felt good and satisfying. After surgery, full hurts. I have to pay attention when i eat because my sleeve will send me a signal and I have to stop at the first signal or more food will leave me doubled-over for almost an hour.
  18. I think most if not all of them are whey Protein isolate tho.
  19. I've seen egg Protein and soy protein powders at the local Vitamin shoppe.
  20. I had three months insurance-mandated nut visits/supervised weight loss. I was told to maintain or lose but do NOT gain. I lost 50 lbs prior to surgery. I am a type 2 diabetic as well, I don't believe it had any impact on my weight loss one way or the other. i will tell you my surgeon took me off of metformin immediately after surgery and I haven't had (or needed) any since.

    need more food

Great suggestions in this thread. The only thing I'd add is that you might consider eating (or Protein shake) more often by not waiting as long for each meal. Lastly, you might need to add a meal to your day.

    body by vi shakes

My surgeon made me buy two bags of Bariatric Advantage for my two-week preop liquid diet but i was not allowed to have them after surgery because of the Fiber content. If i recall correctly, body by vi has some fiber in it. if so, you could probably have them again down the line.
