Energy drinks
DonRodolfo replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're thinking Monster or Rockstar, the short answer is no because of the carbonation. I didn't touch coffee until two weeks out, seemed to be okay. -
Amy is probably going to have a hard time explaining to her hubby why there's a tractor tire in the middle of the living room .

I think I'm going to need therapy after reading that so many times today!

Welcome to the board, and apologies for the rudeness, stacechase.

Welcome, good to have you here! As I recall, you just try to enter the "specialty forum" and click the link for membership and either happens automatically or the administrator of the forum has to approve it.

I'm sorry - I'm too mentally distraught to read any further! I was not at the support group where you told this story. You would have remembered if I had been there - I would have been the one there with the very audible gasp. Thankfully i haven't been in a situation where i would have had to do that but it's inevitable. i hope I can handle it as well as you did! I bow to your greatness, Sifu!

Trying to stop smoking
DonRodolfo replied to ashleio84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit snuff in 2006 by using both the nicoderm patch AND a prescription of wellbutrin (lower dose) to take the edge off the nicotine fits. It really did help and I haven't touched nicotine since. -
It's an answer - one of my answers to this problem is "get a smaller plate". Not kidding here, I bought baby plates at support group a couple months ago and put my Protein in one of of the smaller sections, whatever veg in the other smaller section, and leave the largest section empty. Oh and get baby utensils. i may look ridiculous using baby plates and baby utensils but i looked far more ridiculous at 416 lbs loading up my third plate at the Breakfast buffet.

Leave it! You should be proud. Your after picture looks like the daughter of your before picture! Well done! -
How many pounds do/can we fluctuate
DonRodolfo replied to Denn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are abnormal. Because you are 6 pounds heavier than you were this morning? No. It's because you're weighing yourself twice a day. Save your sanity and weigh only once a week. -
Mozart vs Skrillex. Epic Rap Battles of History Season 2
DonRodolfo replied to DonRodolfo's topic in The Lounge
I posted that one on my daughter's Facebook wall trying to be a cool dad - she tells me she's already seen it AND all the other ones. -
Just because!

For what it's worth, I don't hate you, I have no issue with you, and you don't owe me any apology.

I went to full liquids upon discharge from the hospital. I'd blend the chunky soups, strain out the chunks, and drink what was left. Could you do that with mondongo?
-
For some people it is normal and thank God that it's temporary. You just had major surgery and your body is busy healing itself. It's hugely important that you're getting those fluids in, make sure you're getting that Protein in too! I was sleeved a little over 4 weeks ago. I can't eat the way I used to but I don't have any regrets. I have vivid memories of what it was like to be over 400lbs and I never want to be there again.

Post Op Brothers and Sisters, please check with your surgeon before having any sausage as the casing can be hard to digest.
-
(Yes I'm stalking you ) So what did you decide? I forgot to tell you that the day before my surgery, I put on the heartrate monitor while I did the lawn and burned over 1500 (not a typo) calories!
-
What, no duck face? Seriously tho, well done!

When can you shake?
DonRodolfo replied to startingtolivenow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was discharged on full liquids which included shakes for me. Get yourself some Isopure RTD - that's considered a clear and has comparable protein to any of the shakes. -
As long as you stay away from the BMX trails you should be fine. (seriously tho, always consult with your surgeon for the final ok on stuff like this, even if it seems harmless)

I've learned to embrace baldness.

Thank you for pointing that out, I totally overlooked that. Good eye!

My wife took two days off - the day of surgery and the day after and I was on my own after that and did well. We live in a two story home and I was told it would be okay to walk the steps as I needed to.
