    Sign up at the gym?

I lost 50lbs preop by walking. You don't have to sign up at a gym to walk but it makes it convenient (takes away the "too hot", "too rainy", too anything excuses). What you need to be mindful of is that heartrate. If you're out there just strolling that isn't going to get your heartrate up enough. You don't have to run or even jog.
  2. Great job on the water and protein! Yep iron would be my next guess. Noticed you're in Dallas. Lots of great support groups in our area, I highly recommend if you aren't involved already.
  3. The bad news - you got about 3 more days of this to go. The good news - on the 5th day you will wake up and be amazed at how good you feel with how little you're taking in. The best news - many people are allowed to eat anything they want until the day of surgery. They get to deal with recovery AND what you're dealing with right now. You won't have to and it'll be behind you. Read this link: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/78443-the-pre-op-diet-is-not-a-punishment-its-an-opportunity/

New - doctor recommeded I join

Actually mine did as well, but not $1000.00. I had to pay $300 for a pre-surgery class and about $150 for the two bags of Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement shakes (for the two-week preop diet). I paid a $25 fee for FMLA paperwork handling and I think I've paid a bill or two that they've sent me.

    In recovery right now

Congrats to you! Don't be shy to ask for pain meds for the gas, they helped me get walking fairly soon after surgery!

    REALLY!

I had something similar happen on my end. I was all set to make a scene if I showed up to the hospital only to find out I wasn't approved but miraculously the surgeons office got my approval within an hour of me complaining to them about it. Hang in there!

    Best earbuds for running?

Personally I like the clip-on style earpads - I get a fuller sound than with earbuds and they stay on just fine. Mine are similar to this and cost about the same: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-Q68LW-Clip--Headphone-Retractable/dp/B000PCF7A6/ref=sr_1_43?ie=UTF8&qid=1373330076&sr=8-43&keywords=sony+ear+pads

    Nioxin vs. Bosley?

Bumping Molly's thread for visibility (because she sure in the heck doesn't want hair advice from me! )

    A little discouraged

Everyone hits stalls at different times after surgery and in different frequencies. Do what your surgeon told you to do and be patient. I get hungry too, but it's different than before surgery. And let me tell you the times I thought I could eat more than I should have been painful and memorable! Hang in there!

    Gerd.

My surgeon took me off my GERD meds immediately after surgery. I was taking them again within days because of frequent heartburn (which I rarely had prior to surgery). No reflux issues after surgery, but rarely had an issue with it before surgery.

    Driving after surgery

They were more concerned with me driving under the influence of the liquid hydrocodone than they were with how many days after surgery. I drove myself to my 1 week follow-up appointment with no issues.

    Depression and anxiety

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I'm going to share this. Even before I started this journey, I dealt with lack of energy and motivation. My doctor found I had low T and started treating me and it helped a little. Still wasn't enough. The beginning of this year, I decided to go the WLS route. I started exercising in February and that helped a little too. Still not enough. Had the surgery in May and was all fired up but I noticed it started wearing away. Today I took the day off as part of the holiday and it was all I could do to get out of bed before 1pm. I don't feel sad about anything in particular, just have no motivation to do anything and I feel frustrated because I feel like I'm just lazy and I can't snap out of it. Is this depression? Should I see someone?

    Wet eyes 2day

I'll tell you what you're gonna do, you're gonna calm down! You lost 30lbs in the first two weeks and you think you haven't lost any more but you don't know? I'm a bigger person, I started out at 416 and at no point (even after surgery) have I lost 30lbs in two weeks. You are being way too hard on yourself. The other thing you're gonna do is you're going to get those fluids and protein in because if you don't, your body WILL stop trying to lose weight in order to protect itself. You MUST nourish your body, it's no longer an option. HUGS

What is it that you're feeling Amy? Is it lack or motivation, lack of energy, something else? I may not be able to help, but you have my attention.

    Protein bars

What Amanda Rae said plus Vitamin Shoppe. You'll want to wait until you're on full foods. They're delicious but VERY dense.

Agreed - keep up the good work Amanda Rae!
