Diabetics who got sleeved....
DonRodolfo replied to ccaramel27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Type 2 here. Have not taken Metformin since surgery (surgeon took me off them and other meds). I'm getting between 89-109 consistently daily since. -
It'll be 7 weeks in 4 days, haven't vomited since surgery. Have wanted to after eating too much a few times, but haven't.

2 week liquid... am I alone...
DonRodolfo replied to mamachef's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's the beauty of the two-week preop diet. Not only are you going to make it to your surgery date, but it's going to make things so much easier after surgery. You'll have the nominal after-surgery complaints but at least you won't have to feel like you did the first few days of the diet on top of it. -
Xylitol is amazing. Stevia has a funky aftertaste to me Someone should mention agave.

Well done - keep up the good work!

Not a silly question at all and no, it is not me. Call it wishful thinking!

You were too busy to date (work, philanthropic persuits, etc.) Why bring up the rest? The right time is once you figure out the guy is a keeper. Up until that point, is it really his business?

i'm gonna have to try these, I keep hearing people talk about them.

I did too!

Do they come in a more a manly color, like Realtree Camo! Seriously tho, how much does each bowl hold and where did you get them?

2 week liquid... am I alone...
DonRodolfo replied to mamachef's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so angry the first few days of my two-week preop diet that I wanted to sue people! If i had to do this surgery again, I'd demand a two-week preop diet. it made my life so much easier after surgery. -
Not Sure if its the right move...
DonRodolfo replied to JerseyBuckhunter53's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
it's amazing how different it is for each person. Do what your surgeon directed you to do and it'll all be fine soon! -

My favorite is the AMP Wheybolic extreme 60 by GNC. It's a bodybuilder's formula and the usual serving is 3 scoops and 12oz of milk. i do two scoops and 8oz of milk. I recently discovered powdered Peanut Butter so i put two tablespoons in the mix and it tastes very close to a Reese's cup.

My understanding is that it is okay to snack but not graze (that's different)). We're not talking a cheeseburger, but something sensible. A protein shake, or say string cheese wrapped in a thin slice of ham (100 cals or so).

Not doing the liquid diet
DonRodolfo replied to Ashlee K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No worries, but ultimately it's our own doctor's opinions that matter. I'd tell him just to be safe and to avoid any unpleasant surprises. -
I hope this forum is helpful when I have my surgery

I apologize if I overlooked any of your posts asking questions or advice. I'm always happy to help but honestly if it's a chore to read it than I'm moving on. -
Not Sure if its the right move...
DonRodolfo replied to JerseyBuckhunter53's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to VST! I was taken off of one of my high blood pressure meds when I was discharged. I was taken off the other one just yesterday. I haven't had a Metformin for diabetes since I entered the hospital. It was so cool to me to see my surgeon take me off of all these meds. Recovery? I was out of work for three weeks. To me, I recovered the first week and enjoyed the other two weeks of vacation. And the worst part of the first week was the first hour after surgery. I felt better by the minute after that. I lost 50lbs preop and 34 postop. My waist size before surgery was 62. As of this morning, it is 56. I wore a pair of pants to work this morning I had not been able to wear for over 10 years. -
Not doing the liquid diet
DonRodolfo replied to Ashlee K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And that is perfectly fine but the OP specifically said she was required to do a liquid diet. -
How long were you off work?
DonRodolfo replied to Cindeez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked and asked and was told repeatedly that it would be two weeks. Two weeks were up, I return to work, check emails, and find one from HR saying I was approved for 3 weeks! Honestly tho, it was 1 week of recovery and two weeks of vacation!
