    Anyone have Aetna Insurance?

I would think that would work. And tell him to start going to the doctor more often!

    Anyone have Aetna Insurance?

I have Aetna. As I remember, Aetna required 3 months supervised weight loss before surgery. As for the weight loss history, I don't know if it was my surgeon or Aetna that required it but all they did was contact my PCP which has records on me dating back to 2002.

Atkins products over te last 15 years...

    Could be worse
  4. My wife and I went out to dinner last night for our 23rd wedding anniversary to her favorite steakhouse. I ordered a 6oz fillet with sauteed mushrooms and onions. Unfortunately, they brought out a cup of this ridiculous tortilla soup so I knocked that out. I had like a pinch of bread, a bite of her loaded baked potato, and only had room for two small slices of my steak! So I have about 2 days of leftovers which is cool. We eat out but not as much as we used to. I always bring leftovers home and we try not to let those go to waste. I get a minimum of two more meals out of what I bring home. I try to avoid Pasta, breads, and definitely not having Desserts.
  5. Maybe if you're lucky, a friend will send you a homemade gatorade recipe you could try to make with agave
  6. How are you with sugar alcohol such as Xylitol? If you don't know, try some Ideal. This is my favorite sweetner but I only use it at home as no restaurants carry it. Try agave, it's a syrup made from the same plant that tequila is made from. It's a little pricey, but natural and delicious.

    GNC shakes

I was looking at these yesterday. For some reason, the RTD has way lower carbs than the powder. I compared the powder to my GNC Amp Wheybolic Extreme 60 and mine is the better one. Also, I'm told that the concept of "net carbs" (carbs - fiber = net carbs) is an Atkins thing and it's BS.

    question

No because of the carbonation. Remember those scenes in the Aliens movies where the little guy pops out? That's what happens when you've been sleeved and you have something carbonated.

1 step forward & TEN back!

Something else: you need to start measuring yourself. myfitnesspal will track that as well and you may find that when you're not losing weight the inches are coming off.

1 step forward & TEN back!

Yes you do. Don't get discouraged, this is just a temporary setback. Once that certain something gets tweaked properly it'll start happening for you.

1 step forward & TEN back!

You to find a way to track what you're consuming. If you're putting everything you eat into, say, myfitnesspal it will tell you how much Protein you're getting. There are other apps but I'm not familiar with them. The fluids look good but I think you're supposed to be getting 48oz to 64oz. You don't need to do 30mins. If you're doing 5 everyday that's great, keep that up. Some reality here: there's no way after sleeve surgery you're consuming as much as you did before surgery. Like everyone else, you are probably in a calorie deficit everyday. The weight will come off, but it may be super slow if you're not getting enough calories or other reasons. Something needs to be tweaked and your surgeon's office is the best place to ask. I wish I had answers for you.

Your light will shine. Right now, we're taking care of you. How are you doing on Protein? How are you doing on fluids? How many calories are you consuming per day? How are you tracking your food? What are you doing for exercise, how much, and how often?

    Newbie

    Hi Amy - welcome!

    New on site

My insurance required 3 months medically supervised diet. It was okay if I didn't lose weight, it was okay if I lost weight, but under no circumstances could I gain weight or i put my coverage at risk. I'm glad they made me do it, I learned so much at those sessions.

Im new on here i need inspiration!

Hi Casey. I dropped >10% of my 416lbs preop so it can be done and you won't have to kill yourself doing it. Start walking everyday - if you can only walk 10 minutes that'll do. But you have to do it everyday and increase it every month. Your surgeon should give you nutritional guidance on how to eat healthier. My advice to you - whatever you're eating, take a bite and chew it 20 - 30 times and DO NOT swallow until you have. keep doing this until you get tired of eating that particular meal. Also, stop drinking fluids with your meals. Eat, wait at least 30 minutes, then you can drink. Doing both these things will get you ready for life after the sleeve.

    Excersice

You can walk and do light cardio right now. You should have weight limitations that limit you on strength training.

    Had my sleeve done yesterday

Do NOT hesitate to ask for pain meds if they haven't given you any!

Best of the best to you, please check in as soon as you can.
  24. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and I can only eat about a half cup of food so I'd say yes it's normal. It'll increase to a cup in a few months. Your doctor should have given you specific instructions on how much to consume how often. If I were you I'd call tomorrow and demand he tell you - he owes you that. I nourish 5 or 6 times a day. I usually start out with a Protein shake made with no-fat milk that I drink on the way to work. As soon as I finish it, I set a time for 2.5 hours. When that timer goes off, I do my next nourishment. This is usually a half cup of food, be it egg salad, chicken salad, etc. I set the timer again for 2.5 hours. When it goes off again, I'll either have a half cup of food or a Protein Drink (the kind made with water). Set the timer again when I'm done. I don't think I've hit 1000 calories any day since surgery.
