Don't be nervous - Dr Castro and everyone in his office are great!

No worries, I had forgotten about that. Like southernsoul, I use an entire scoop for 8oz of Water.

You're finding a discrepancy between the Syntrax nectar? I've tried all of the Syntrax Nectar flavors and I remember them all having about 23g of protein.

OMG>> how am I supposed to go through with this?!~!

Take a couple of deep relaxing breaths, then write down the reasons you're doing this and why it's important to you. Keep that list near you, you may need it again. Second thoughts are normal, many of us have had them. I have as well, but i'd do the surgery again in a heartbeat. -
Hi I was sleeved 11 days ago and ive already had some solids... and nothing happened.. I feel just fine...Has anyone else done this?

You did this, but you're not trying to encourage others to do the same are you? -
How soon after surgery did you come off your "lifestyle" meds?

Weighing, stalls & realistic expectations
DonRodolfo replied to zenandnow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I weigh every day, but my "official" weigh in day is Friday. Whatever the scale says this day goes into MFP, Digifit, and the ticker here and at gastricsleeve.com. The other days i just record it in my smartphone bp app Stalls tell me that I need to change something. Just lately I started upping my Protein (without upping my calories so much) and that seems to have helped. I also increased my fluids. I'm getting 3 to 5 pounds a week I wanted a pound per day but that's not realistic. As long as it stays 3 -5 I'm happy. -
How soon after surgery did you come off your "lifestyle" meds?
DonRodolfo replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon tried to take me off of everything after surgery! He had me stop metformin for diabetes, one of my two blood pressure meds, and my GERD meds. I had to start taking the GERD meds again as I started getting pretty bad heartburn but may revisit taking me off them again. Still haven't taken the metformin or the one blood pressure med. Got off the other blood pressure med when i visited my cardiologist a month or so later. If you haven't already, get your husband one of those home blood pressure monitors and have him start taking readings DAILY. Share the results with his doc. One of my coworkers was sleeved a couple years ago, he stayed on his blood pressure meds, and his blood pressure got too low after losing weight and he ended up taking a nasty spill and banging his head enough to land him in the hospital. -

A few questions: When was your surgery? Are you logging what you eat in something like MFP? How much Protein are you getting per day? What are you doing for workouts and what is your average heart rate while you're doing it? Are you measuring yourself?

Worried about pre op testing affecting my surgery

Can't speak for the thyroid but I had surgery as a diabetic. Haven't had a metformin since surgery tho! -
Protein shakes vs protein powder
DonRodolfo replied to MrsAnders's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I believe they all have 23g per serving. I'm almost 11 weeks out and I still drink Protein shakes several times per day (along with food). They're the most efficient protein source considering calories vs protein. -
Protein shakes vs protein powder
DonRodolfo replied to MrsAnders's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Highly recommended. MANY people have ordered this http://bjsbariatrics...SamplePack.html Personally, I like powders over RTD any day. -
Just ate a Cheeseburger on my preop. OMG!
DonRodolfo replied to reno1128's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What's done is done. If you do this too soon after being sleeved, expect a trip to the emergency room. -
Disagree. It would be so easy to get too many carbs on that plan and derail your detox and if you think it's bad now, imagine going through this AND recovering from surgery. No thanks. If i had to do it again, I'd do the same 5 shakes a day that I did before and get the detox over with before surgery.

Emotionally eating a protein shake
DonRodolfo replied to wasabi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not going to beat you up for emotionally having a Protein Shake, seems like you're going through a lot and at least you didn't reach for a bag of flaming hot Cheetos. Still, somewhere down the line, you may want to consider getting counseling for getting comfort out of food. You're in good company and are not the only one on VST who does this. I hope everything goes the best for you. I like your positive attitude! -
I can only think of one regular there that would know me from here.

Yes I am! It will be the third meeting I've attended there. It's far for me too (I'm in Forney) but it's worth the trip. It would be nice to meet you as well. My name is Carlos.

Not only do i wear a heart rate monitor on the treadmill at the gym, i wear one when i'm mowing the lawn, string trimming, and edging - it better count! (Seriously, I'm burning around 1000 calories doing yard work. I count it!)
-
If possible ask for two and see how you feel at the end of the first week.
-
Absolutely have the sleep test. If you do have sleep apnea you'll need to have been using your machine for awhile before surgery.

Tell me how your Taste Buds have changed.
DonRodolfo replied to css95's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't believe it happens to everyone. I still love the things that I did before surgery but I prioritize what I consume now so a lot of those things are out. -
If I had to do this again and the doctor left it up to me what i could have during my preop diet, I'd do 5 meal-replacement (not supplement) shakes a day supplementing with chicken broth as needed and NO food whatsoever. I'd drink as much Water as I could stand daily and I'd expect the first four days to suck as my body detoxed carbs and such but I'd keep doing the treadmill. And I'd take liquid tylenol for the headaches while i detoxed.
