I confess I'm not great with water and I could be better. It's not for lack of ability, I can down a Protein shake in about 10 minutes and have no issue with water either. I'm finding I'm better at water when I'm at the gym and trying to keep myself hydrated. I bring a 32oz water bottle to the gym and it's usually empty when I leave an hour later.

Yes. i have a timer on my smartphone that goes off every two hours. Here's a typical day for me First meal: Protein shake made with PB2, usually on the way to work Morning snack: 1/2 cup egg salad Lunch: 1/2 cup chicken salad Afternoon snack: could be Jerky, Ostrim, a Protein Bar, or a Syntrax shake Dinner: usually leftovers from last night's restaurant trip After dinner snack: don't usually have this, but when I do I try to keep it light such as another sytrax nectar.

Thanks so much! Did my first 5k on the treadmill just yesterday!
-
Are you able to walk? If so, how far or how long?
-
I am so sorry, i quoted the wrong post.
-
How long are you capable of walking?

i know a couple of people who have lost weight from weight loss surgery without a significant amount of exercise - one can't because of his knees, and one won't because she doesn't believe in it. Hey, if that works for them. i'm here to tell you I started this journey in January of this year. I was 416lbs and couldn't stand for 10 minutes without breaking into a sweat IN A COLD DATACENTER. Yesterday I did a 5k on the treadmill for the first time in my 50 year old life. Today I'm shopping for my first 5K to walk. Did exercise contribute to my weight loss. Maybe or maybe not but i know I'm healthier because of it.

HEY! No interfering with me being preachy!

i am 12 weeks out. I'm working on being able to do a 5k and today was my first day on the treadmill being able to do that. I try to do the treadmill 3 - 5 times a week plus i strap on the heart rate monitor when doing lawn work (I've burned >600 cals just doing the front or the back).

Yeah but did they not tell you that you're supposed to eat your Protein first, veg second, and carbs last? Ideally you shouldn't even have room for the other two after the protein.

No but I think you have to adjust protein upwards. MFP says I need to have 145g protein before exercise, and have seen it increase to 190 - 200 after exercise.

I am *SO* happy to see this. I'm in the DFW area and belong to two support groups and looking at joining more. I *HIGHLY* recommend people get involved with groups in their area. Online is nice, but it doesn't copare to face-to-face. Best of luck to you Houston! -
I had something similar happen, no damage. Just adjust your protein upwards and carry on.

Glad you liked it! There is a different support group meeting on Tuesday 8/20 at Methodist Hospital (on the corner of Colorado and Beckley) at 6pm in the Weiss Auditorium. It's run by two bariatric nurses (and former WLS patients) and while not as social as the one today, there's usually good information.
