Anyone on Friday June 28
MsJones83 replied to EllaJo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went for my first post op appointment today... My sweet 236 & today I weighed in @ 225. So I'm down 11lbs since surgery on June 28th. My Doc said 11lbs is kinda low but because I didn't have a lot to lose in the beginning it's good. I also don't drink enough water or take in enough calories but I just don't ever have an appetite. Today I had a small slice of pizza.. smh is all I can do -

Hello all!!! WE MADE IT TO 1 WEEK!!!!!!! Its been pretty new but not so bad I must admit... After my 1 incident in the very beginning, I have been doing much better. However, I did have somewhat of an incident I think. My bf went to the custard stand to get me a sugar free slush drink but he came back with something like a gelati (ice cream on the top & bottom). I took the ice cream out as much as I could but figured a tiny bit wouldn't hurt. Long story short, I hadn't gone #2 since surgery & after my less than 2oz of deliciousness & about 20 minutes, I was 1 2 stepping it to the bathroom. No embarrassments or discomfort, it was just a long time spent on the porcelain throne just because I was unsure of what may happen ya know, with my new stomach & all. That was Tuesday btw. Wednesday I cheated again & had a holiday cookie. It was super soft with a super sweet icing on top & it was one of my worst decisions I've made.. Went straight through me & that was it for me!! Strictly broth, freeze pops, & water. Today I started my full liquid stage... Haven't had any protein yet tho.. I've been trying to figure out how I'm gonna cope tomorrow on my birthday... NO CAKE.. NO ICE CREAM... NO FOOD!!!! & still alil sore... How can I possibly enjoy my 30th birthday like this...? Smh Oh well, omw week sleeved & I'm happy I did it.. It's a life long learning process & I'm bouta rock this sleeve! Congratulations to you all!!! We're a big bunch a Great Big Fat Losers!!!!!!! -
Anyone try Keranique for hair loss/prevention?
MsJones83 replied to MsJones83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure everyone doesn't lose hair. Everyone is different but because I have never gone through though this process & don't know if I may be one in the percentage who will begin to lose hair, I feel its necessary to know what my options are. -
Anyone try Keranique for hair loss/prevention?
MsJones83 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep seeing commercials of this new stuff called Keranique & it's supposed to regrow lost hair. I'm just trying to plan ahead and know what my options are in the event of such devastation. I also haven't seen any African American women in the commercial & since I'm African American, I would like to hear from any African American women who may have used this product & what were your results? I'm not even a week out yet & this is all so frustrating. Ugh! What did I do? -
This gas has really been kicking my behind! I mean its the worst feeling ever but as I sat in this uncomfortable chair I noticed I couldn't stop rubbing my tummy. As I rubbed, I kept belching & farting (tmi but they don't stink lol) There's a huge sigh of relief so I would suggest everyone with gas problems to try relaxing in a recliner chair & just rub your belly with light pressure. If anyone else has any other remedies other than walking that have worked for you, please share

Anyone on Friday June 28
MsJones83 replied to EllaJo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I was sleeved on Friday the 28th... What a roller coaster ride that was! First, there was an emergency which pushed back all my surgeon's appointments. Then, because I have such small veins & was slightly dehydrated from the wait, I became a pin cushion! 5 different nurses, & 13 sticks later, they had an IV inserted. So from that episode caused someone else to be put in front of me. More waiting... Doc said surgery went well, no complications. Recovery on the other hand SUCKS! No pump for pain meds for me.. I had to ask for pain meds when I wanted them which, my nurses were pretty good on getting them to me w/o a major delay. The leak test ended with me painfully puking while trying not to fall off the machine. Smh I slept most of the time. I walked around with a mask on my face because the smell of my urine made me nauseous. Foods, visitors, doctors, & nurses' smells made me gag it was horrible! The day after surgery they gave me 2oz of diluted grape juice to drink before I could be discharged. Took me 3 & 1/2 hrs to drink it.. ugh it was so sweet. So, I got down as much of that as I could & was released Saturday at 4:30pm. When I got home I couldn't keep anything down! Kept gagging & throwing up & around 10:30 was readmitted in the hospital. 6 nurses, 2 doctors, and an ultrasound machine to find veins & they found nothing.... my arms have so many holes its ridiculous! My nurse was also sleeved & encouraged me to walk. Her advice really helped me in just understanding that I will get through this. I mean, this forum is very helpful, don't get me wrong, but actually seeing someone who had been through what I'm currently going through gave me hope. Anyways, I was discharged @ 7am Sunday morning. I missed church but my church Fam came over to see about me.. I slept most of the day. Since I've been home I've taken 2 pain pills. Today has definitely been much better. Freeze pops, ice chips, & (homemade) jello have been my best friends! Store bought jello seems a little too rough for my stomach. It also helps to have family, friends, a great support system to help during your recovery. I sure hope it continues to get better from here. -

A cocktail????? I honestly just laughed out LOUD!! Are you serious? I'll be heading over to the hospital in 41/2 more hours.. (deep breath). Still can't believe it's today already. Smh Well, may God continue to bless and protect us all on our new life decision and give us the strength to succeed in our efforts to a happier, healthier, life. May He guide the hands of every surgeon and assisting nurse as they proceed with our procedures. Give us peace in knowing that you are with us. Protect our minds, spirits, and souls from anything that may try to slide in while we are under the anesthesia. And may we all have uncomplicated surgeries and smooth recoveries/transitions to our next phase in life. Congratulations to those already sleeved & blessings to those being sleeved in the future.. UGH, my nerves while writing this post smh
