    Does anyone still do crunches?

Crunches are fine but they are only 1 of many core exercises you can do. My advice is you go see a good personal trainer or better yet a physical therapist or athletic trainer who can show you a series of exercises. You likely would only need a couple of sessions and then you'll be doing what's best for you.

who cares if it is the easy way out?

Easy? I don't have to think about it. Having done it (VSG) my experience is that it was hard. Very hard at times. It forced me to eat less. To the outsider that might seem easy but when you make the big changes we all have made there are major physical and psychological hardships. Am i glad i did it? Hell yes. Was it easy? Hell no.
  3. I had a lot of pain for a week then it gradually subsided. Hang in there, it will get better. I am about 10 months out now and have occassional twinges in my ribs but it's not bad and i wouldn't go back if i could.
  4. SW 277 Presently 207 Been stuck there for about 3 months now since having some bad times with my mom passing then getting a kidney stone for a few weeks. Oddly my waist is still slowly shrinking.
  5. I would think everyone is different so not sure your results will be the same but I hope so because I have had all of those in your list except the agave nector (just never tried it). I have found very few things bother my stomach, just like before surgery. If I eat something sweet it should be very little of it or I feel a little off . I do much better when I eat like they taught me. Protein first, veggies next, starches last (if there is room). I eat 5 times a day and never really feel hungry.

    Jealousy

I felt that way when I was only on shakes. Once I could eat soft foods it was better and then as I had more "normal" foods that feeling was gone. Now when I go out to eat dinner with the wife and friends I don't eat quickly or I'm done when they are just finishing their appetizer. I don't mind that I can't eat as much as anyone at the table but I try not to eat quickly so I can "fit in" socially.
  7. You're doing a great job. Be good, don't worry about being perfect.

    11 Month Update

Great Job! I want to be you when I grow up!
  9. My sugeon didn't have me doing any liquid diet, just wanted me to lose 5 lbs in the month prior to surgery. I did very well with surgery and recovery has gone well overall. As far as you wondering why he wouldn't want to "play it safe" I think that he likely is playing it safe as far as he sees it. My doc felt that t here were some cardiac arrhythmias that are brought on by too severe a diet and they were more dangerous and hard to manage during a surgery than getting a little more trimming of the liver. Your doc wants you to be safe, and for the surgery to go well without complications. As the doc why they don't do the special diets and put your mind at rest. Best wishes with your surgery.

    Wine

That depends. When was your surgery? I was allowed alcohol in moderation about 4 months out. I usedto have 1-2 beers a month but the carbonation makes it less pleasant now so 1-2 x a month i have a glass of wine with absolutely no problems.

    Cigars

I waited about 5 months and have 2-3 a weekend while playing golf with no ill effects. I didn't have this surgery to go all jack lalane or preachy to others. I eat way better than i used to but still enjoy the finer things in life like a wellcooked meal (but a small one), wine or booze (again in moderation) and the occasional cigar. Still losing but slower now and enjoying life more.

    Help Nervous

Its normal to be nervous. You'll be fine, its not hard, just different and you dont have to figure it all out at once afterwards, one day at a time will see you through.
  16. I am 6 months out. My wife and i made traditional Thanksgiving foods such as baked turkey, stuffing, cranberries, sweet potato casserole. I had a little everything over about 5 hours. I really didnt eat much, just a little taste and was very satisfied.

    Miss The Morning Coffee

I have a cup a day with no problems. I never used to drink coffee, was into many diet cokes a day. I am now 6 months out.

    Sushi

I had it at 3 months. I was told i had to wait that long because raw fish can be dangerous till your stomach can make enough acid to kill any parasites or germs. Check with your nutritionist if you can. If the rice bothers you have the sashimi.

    Anyone Regret Your Sleeve?

I had my surgery about 6 months ago and I have the hiatal hernia done as well. That was actually pretty painful for 3 weeks and then still off and on for months. To this day if I move just the wrong way I get a pain in my middle that my doc says is nothing to worry about , just some adhesions. This does seem to be getting better now that I have started some pilates. As far as regret, hell, the first 10 days were not so good but I just muddled through it. The no eating, the oh my god bad breath, the pain, dizziness all gets better. Eventually you'll be eating much more variety and you'll appreciate it. Although at this point I can eat anything, candy, cake, pizza I stick with chicken, fish, steak and some veggies with a bite or two of bread if I'm in the mood. I take a bite of the wifes desert, taste a little bit then set it down because I don't really want it. I now am Thrilled to have had the sleeve and I think many are in that category. There are challenges with eating, working out, drinking, clothing etc but it's kind of fun because the sleeve gives you this incredibly powerful tool for you to use. Best wishes.

    Eating capacity for males

I am just over 6 months out and can eat a small chicken breast with some gravy or cheese on it with 3-4 oz of veggies. If I have any starch it cuts into how much Protein or veggies I get in. The amount had increased to this point about 2 months ago and have plateaued significantly. My weight loss has slowed but is still good and my energy level continues to increase. At this point I have more energy by a fair amount than I did before surgery. I can eat anything but the few times I had a piece of cake I felt odd after only 3-4 bites so I stay away from that. I am eating about 1200-1500 cal a day. Oh, and I can have a beer but it's not as much fun since it takes about 45 min to drink it. Water or G2 goes down quickly, about 4 oz at a time, wait 30 sec and repeat. I can drink within 2 min of eating but after eating no drinking for 30 min. Best of luck

Dropped 3 pants size in 2 months

I was a 44, now in a 38 and they are getting looser every week. I was in a 2 x shirt and some of them were tight and now I am in xl and they are getting loose too. I am a pack rat and had my clothes from when I was smaller packed away. It feels so good to see clothes I had not worn in 10-15 years and then putting them on and they feel great. I am down 68 lbs, sleeved 5-13.

    To much protein?

I went to the er today for a kidney stone. It was the worst pain I've ever had. Broken bones, shoulder surgery, abdominal surgery was nothing compared to the kidney stone. I will be following up with my nutritionist and surgeon about protein levels (I think vit d levels are another concern for me). Hang in there and stay in touch with your medical team.

    kidney stones :(

I woke up with that I thought was a strained right side of my low back. It progressed to groin pain and then vomiting. I went to the ER and they did a ct scan that showed a kidney stone. The pain was horrible till I got the torodol and morphine. I am hoping with better hydration this will pass and NEVER return. Hang in there and see what the doc says.
