I'm stalled :( NEED encouragement!
pixigrl replied to TXBell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I talked with my nutritionist/naturopath the other day and asked her about stalls. She says it's perfectly normal and the body will figure it out. She also said to just eat full fat (yes, I said full fat) and nutritious foods. Since we are eating so little anyhow, the fat free and sugar free are really not affecting our progress and your body knows how to recognize things like butter instead of chemically-made up margarine. Try goat or almond milk instead of cows milk. You may be bloated from milk products. You may need to "up" your calories if you have started weights. The body will hold on to EVERYTHING if it's not getting enough nutrients to balance out the exercise. Make sense? -
Bizarre Post-Op Side Effects!?
pixigrl replied to EweLewz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hairloss is typical. All these make sense since we're not getting nearly the amount of nutrients in our body as before. Try biotin for the hairloss, or prenatal multivitamins. I was just sleeved last week and the only odd thing I've noticed is that my dad ate a cheeseburger in front of me and I didn't have the mental vision of jumping over the table like a lioness and ripping it from his hands. Good luck on your journeys, kids! -

pixigrl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I left my thumbdrive at home with all my VERY valuable list of questions and concerns. I'm currently in Mexico. The thumbdrive is in Washington State. D'oh! Tests? Pain? Nutrition? Gosh, it's 3:47 right now and I'm leaving the hotel in 45 minutes. Bueller? Bueller?? I saw an amazing post once that had a very detailed list of questions or concerns to ask about. I can't find it!!! -

Seriously? One week diet and I haven't stuck to anything .
pixigrl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm ranting here. I know what I need to do.. Protein Shake for Breakfast Protein shake for lunch sensible dinner DONE Where has the soda and bowls of Cereal come into play. It's like this crazy urge to eat and eat. I know part of it is from the lack of carbs throughout the day and I need my seratonin fix, but SHEESH....FAILURE! Four days to go and then three days of liquid I need some support here. I know I'm not the only one that's gone through this. Any ideas, tricks, techniques to DO IT? Obviously my forte is NOT will-power. Help... -
I'm about to write money to the Mexico Bariatric group and having slight anxiety. What if they take my money and run? Anyone wise write to Christy
-
Ok, problem solved. I talked wtih Christy at MexicoBariatric and explained my concerns, fears and why I was leary about wiring the money. She was very sympathetic to my concerns and gave me alternative ways to pay that would ease my concerns. They never wanted ALL the money up front. I just happen to have the funds ready and was going to do it in one fell swoop. I'm heading to a Wells-Fargo tomorrow to do a direct deposit into their account of the $750 deposit. Then I will take the balance and exchange at the time of surgery via cashiers check. That makes me feel so much better about all of this. I'm a bit naive and if something like fraud were to happen, I would be a good candidate. The great aspect is they have already gotten me in contact with another pt that day and we've been talking about experience and expectations. It's nice to have an ear to bounce off of.

What Should I Ask My Surgeon?
pixigrl replied to Iniysa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I'm having my surgery on the 19th of March and Im really glad I found this thread. I'm curious to see what happens afterwards and how the thyroid affects the loss.

Anyone Tried Juicing?!
pixigrl replied to petra1124's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thinking the same thing. I know juicing is an amazing source of nutriets, but I also know that it's really really easy to "drink" tons of calorie. Also, my post-op plan said to make sure I "don't drink your days calories." The sleeve is like a syphon and will allow liquids more easily. Thus allowing for more intake. Just an FYI. -
I'm ALSO scheduled for the the 19th in Mexico.

I went with Cabrera and V. for the 19th of March

Not fat enough? This is for Low BMI'ers
pixigrl replied to SuchaPrettyFaceBUT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I diffused the situation by simply saying "I really appreciate your concern for my well-being.I'm an adult and have made a medically-endorsed, researched and educated decision regarding my health and I hope that you support me in my decision and I Can count on you during my journey." Most people are ultimately sensitive , but understandably leary @ procedures that may be foreign. Use this opportunity to educate. -

What about an enhanced Drivers license? I'm also hearing conflicting reports on those. I want to schedule soon and just don't have the time to order a passport.

How was your experience with Dr.Almanza? I'm thinking about using him, but I've heard mixed reviews and am trying to build knowledge. He is definetly the most cost effective surgeon out there..and for some reason that scares me. Some are saying he's like an assembly line and it's not a personal experience. What was your experience like? Were you treated like a number? Did you feel like two days was enough to stay in Mexico? Some places have a four-day stay. That's why I'm curious. What did you do for post-op care in America if you had complications? DId you have any complications? Please share your experience. Thanks soooo much!!
