Just do better tomorrow! You are fine!!
-
I am 13, almost 14, months out from surgery and have lost 100lbs. Anybody else dealing with hunger? My quantity of food that I intake at a time hasn't really increased, but I get hungry every 2-3 hours. I know that 5-6 small meals a day isn't bad, but I am afraid of overeating. I have also stalled on weight loss which is another reason I am worried about eating too much. Anybody else having this issue and how are you dealing with it?

SO hungry! I am finding that I need to eat every 2-2 1/2 hours. I keep healthy things around, usually, like peanut butter, nuts, fresh fruit and I try to eat good, filling meals usually made up of beans, chicken, fish. I still can't get in a variety of foods at mealtimes so I eat just fish or just chicken even though I do try to mix in some kind of bean. Still, am I supposed to be hungry so often? I try to eat more at mealtimes but then I feel like I'm over-eating and I *still* get hungry every 2-2 1/2 hours. Any tips? Is this normal? I am also hitting my first stall. Makes me sad. Only 1lb lost in 4 weeks. Have heard about a lot of stalls on here so trying not to let it get me down. Still, though, just makes me worry more about eating.

What were your unsuccessful weight loss attempts insurance needed?
tb21872 replied to bigbeauty78's topic in Insurance & Financing
I just had to have a statement from my Dr. that I had made previous attempts at weight loss and they failed. She typed up a statement showing dates I had come in to see her and that I had tried diet pills, phentermine, and was unsuccessful. I have BC/BS TX. It was a simple, brief statement. -
I am 8 months out and I can eat one slice.

Feel like I can eat too much...

I am 8 months out and while I still cannot take in that large of an amount at one time, I am finding that I am getting hungry more often. -
Thin crust pizza is one of my favorite things to eat! I love it. I am 8 months out and a slice of thin crust pizza is one of my most fulfilling meals. I usually get Canadian Bacon and I love it!

Can't Lose Anymore Weight! :'(
tb21872 replied to nashiemmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your friends could be right! Muscle DOES weigh more than fat but muscle will also burn more calories! Hang in there and keep it up!!! The weight will start to fall off! -
I am 7 months out and still have trouble! Everything tastes different.

I am so worried. In the past two weeks I have started to feel very hungry! I also feel like I am able to take in more! UGH! Is this typical? I have not really counted calories but that is no longer an option since I feel like I need to eat more. Again, is this typical? How do y'all feel at this point with regards to hunger and food intake?

I can no longer eat salmon! Weird, right??? Other fish is just fine but the taste of salmon has become so strong it makes me ill to eat. The same with turkey!! Depends on how it is cooked. I can do *some* pork. Nothing breaded at all. I try to stick with mainly chicken and fish since those are the two that go down the easiest. The lighter the better! I am 7 months out from surgery.

For 14 days I could consume nothing but water and not enough of it. Took me 10 minutes to consume 1 ounce. Was miserable for weeks. Hang in there and call your dr. as soon as you can. It took the aid of my dietician in her office to nurse me through and I was able to avoid re-hospitalization. I promise it will get better but some tummies react harsher than others and mine did! It was awful but I got through it and now am a much happier 85 pounds lighter! Hang in there!!!

YES! I have also always had a really great sex life with my husband. HOWEVER, it is even better without 70+ pounds!!!! Yay for us!

For 14 days after surgery I could take nothing in but water and not very much of it. Almost ended up back in the hospital and probably should have been but it was Christmas and I didn't want to go! It. Was. Aweful. It was also scary. I was SO weak. My dietician started working closely with me and got me through but it was a SLOW process. It initially took me 10 minutes to get one ounce of watered down apple juice in. I also could not tolerate protein shakes AT ALL. My tastes have changed as well and I am not a smoker so you must be going crazy! I cannot tolerate ANY protein shakes to this day and I am 5 months out. Hang in there!!!

I can't drink it AT ALL! The taste has changed. It tastes aweful. Aweful.

Awesome!! Keep it up!

How are y'all doing? I am down 60lbs. Where is everybody else at with regards to weight loss?
-
Long story short. Off work at 4. Pick up kids. Drop one off with Gma. Ball field by 5. Two games. No food since 11a.m. HUNGRY. SO, I hit up the concession stand. I only ate maybe 5, but still, neither proud nor happy about it. Since I just simply cannot eat very much food, the nutritional value of it has taken on much more meaning so not proud of the nachos. My question for y'all, what do y'all do in these situations? Do you just not eat? Do you carry food with you that has been preprepared? What if you have no preprepared food? Surely I am not the only busy, working, coaching parent out there! This is the first time I have been caught unprepared but ball season just started and I am SURE this will not be the last! Would love some tips from the community.

Feeling awkward when people ask how much weight I lost
tb21872 replied to alisonsim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know how you feel! I have lost 70lbs and people tell me how great I look. I don't mind sharing how, I'm not ashamed of regaining control of my life, but I am embarrased that I have lost 70lbs and still have 60 to go. Ugh. Hate that I let my weight get that out of control but proud and happy to be regaining control of it! -
So excited! I struggle daily in my efforts to get enough fluids and calories in. I have tried everything and my dietician told me that everything was OK, it was just going to take longer for my tummy to heal. SO, today I ate a soft taco on a corn tortilla with beans, chicken, cheese and salsa. Now, it was small, but I don't care. I got it all in! I felt full but not miserable. Good day! Still didn't get enough water in, though. That's OK! I'm happy with my little taco. I'll try more water tomorrow! I'll be getting that in before you know it, too! BTW, I'm 4 and a half months from surgery.

Almost the same way. I stop, take a breath, tell myself it's not worth it and remind myself of the 66lbs I've lost and DO NOT want back.
-
Wow. As previously stated, I have struggled since my surgery to intake food and liquid. I am constantly tired and weak due to lack of fluid and/or calories. I am being monitored by my dr. and have been assured everything is OK. Just going to take longer for my tummy to heal. SO, being able to take in a small serving of food loaded with protein is a victory for me and a sign that I am healing and that maybe soon I will be able to intake enough calories/fluid to sustain me adequately through the day. By feeling "full", I did not mean stuffed or had too much, it just meant I was no longer hungry and felt satisfied. This is also a big thing for me since I have not been able to take in ANYTHING without the misery. So, yeah, I am going to celebrate another step towards recovery. I appreciate your defination of how *I* should feel when *I* eat, but I would rather listen to what both my doctor and dietican have told me to look for and feel.
