    insurace denial.

Talk to your patient advocate/insurance person in your Dr.s' office.
  2. I had the same problem! I am now 4 months out is *still* cannot get enough fluid in. Still minimal amounts of food but I can eat. I only eat protein since I can't get much of anything in. No shakes, either! It was probably 8-10 weeks before I stopped being exhausted ALL THE TIME. Still can't get a decent work out in. I have to take a lot of breaks. Had to work with my dietician to get some calories in. He told me that my reaction to surgery is not normal per se, but not unheard of. Just going to take our tummies longer to heal!!! Hang in there!

    when will it get better?

Know how you are feeling! I was MISERABLE. It was difficult to consume anything except water for weeks! However, my dietician worked with me and it eventually got better. IT WILL GET BETTER! Hang in there and just know that all this will be worth it in the end!!!!!!
  4. NO second thoughts at all! I was unprepared for just *how* difficult my recovery would be for the first few weeks after surgery but it was all OK because I knew it would be worth it and IT IS!!! Best decision I ever made!

    Just ate a Wendy's cheeseburger!

Lol! I have been DYING for a cheeseburger today. Have no idea why. Just wanting a cheeseburger. Your post made me smile. I didn't get one because I still have trouble eating ANY bread and when I eat that dang cheeseburger, I want it on a bun! Don't beat yourself up too bad. Ya just need a burger every once in a while and think of all the protein in that meat patty!
  6. I was tired, miserable and exhausted. Was able to go back to work, though! You'll do great!

    Mom of a Toddler

I told my 5 year old little boy who loves to cuddle that my tummy was hurt and I got it fixed. I showed him my tummy and he was VERY concerned about hurting me. I told him I could not pick him up for awhile until my tummy healed but he could crawl in my lap VERY carefully so he could still get hugs and kisses from mommy. I'm not going to lie to ya, he struggled a little bit with the not picking up. BUT, he was more concerned with not hurting me and everything was OK! He loved it when I could pick him up again and it was fun to see him so excited!
  9. I had a full day and night and I didn't need anything! I slept most of the time and spent the rest of the time pressing that button with my pain meds! Lol! Just be sure you bring some comfy, loose fitting clothes to go home in.

    Hairloss

    I eat stuff!

I eat when I'm hungry which is about every 3 hours but I always eat small amounts and eat my protein first! BUT I will also eat whatever I want, just in small portions. I indulge in chocolate, the small ones, and even ice cream but just a small scoop and not every day. This whole process with regards to food is about portion control and learning that you CAN indulge in "bad" foods but in small amounts and along with a healthy diet! Listen to your dr. and eat away!
  12. Nope. First I've heard of this!
  13. There is no way I could've gotten all that in post-op. I would have trouble getting all that in even now and I'm 4 months post-op! I would also suggest the Isopure. My tastes have changed drastically since surgery and I cannot tolerate protein shakes AT ALL. Isopure really helped me get my protein in. I struggled getting anything in for weeks after surgery and my dr. had to put me on a diet which consisted of watered down apple and grape juice just to get calories in because I was having trouble tolerating anything but water. I had a drinking schedule where I had to consume 1 once every 5 minutes. At first it took me at least ten minutes to do one once but I just kept at it. Good luck and hang in there! I promise it gets better!!!!
  14. My dr. told me to avoid rice at all costs because it swells in your stomach. She also put me on Prilosec for 30 days following surgery. I had no problems with reflux so I guess it helped! I was so afraid of hurting my tummy that I was very conservative when I started eating solids. I stuck with potatoes, crackers, peanut butter and A LOT of beans for quite awhile with no problems. Also, a lot of soft meats tuna, fish, and chicken. I am 4 months out and *still* get nervous introducing new foods! Good luck and I hope things improve for you!
  15. Excellent point!!! A bad cake can ruin a wedding! You took one for the team!!! Lol!!
  16. Glad you enjoyed it!! Portion control is what it is all about. Still have to enjoy life and keep in livin'!!! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!!! Best wishes!
  17. My husband has supported me always. Even while my weight was spiralling out of control and I was feeling helpless. The only concern he expressed when I first broached the weightloss surgery with him was the risk that goes along with any surgical procedure you have. I thought long and hard about the decision to have surgery and kept him in the loop through all of it. When I decided to go ahead with the surgery and went through my list of reasons why, he told me he understood, he would be supportive and he just wanted me to be happy. He went to an appointment or two with me. He asked questions and I think this helped him through this process as well and got him comfortable with it. He has also decided to try and get in better shape and has given up his Dr. Peppers!!! I adore him and I absolutely love him to death and I consider myself very lucky!!!
  18. YES! Mine too! Have really noticed the hair loss within the last week. Hair everywhere! Still, I'm with you, it's so worth it. I didn't have great hair anyway!!!!

Beans, beans, beans... The more you eat the more you...

I started with small amount of refried beans when I could eat pureed foods. Beans are still my main food staple. I mix them in with everything! Yummy!!
  20. Everyone is doing so great! Thanks so much for sharing. It helps to kind of gage with people who are right with you on your journey. Good luck as we keep marching forward!!!!
  21. Ate too much today but still probably less than half of what I would've eaten last year! The sweets are what got me. I'll do better tomorrow! Hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter!!!
