OK, I have plans to be the "model" bandster, so in theory I should NEVER pb, but pobody's nerfect. Y'all are scaring me to death with these stories of carrying around "spit cups" and hurling on your new clothes! Tell me that this is the exception and not the rule PLEASE!

Patty, I am so proud of you! You are leaving me WAY in the dust on your weightloss! I had my postop appt. on Monday. I've only lost 7 lbs. since surgery and 11lbs since my initial weigh-in. I actually do feel hungry from time to time, and it's not just in my head. I've really enjoyed the last couple days of mushy. I've had some refried Beans and some chicken salad blended to a paste that ended up being DELICIOUS. I broke down and bought one of those magic bullets that everyone is raving about and I'm glad that I did. So while I'm jealous that you are "beating" me...I'm so proud of your accomplishments. My next appointment is in 6 weeks and that's when he said we would talk about my first fill. Good Luck!

Hi Mayra, We were banded on the same day! I went today for my postop visit. I'm officially on mushies. I am allowed to blend up normal food now and eat it if I like. It needs to be the consistancy of babyfood though. You could try doing that for your St. Paddy meal. Keep in mind that different docs have different rules, so check with him or your nutritionist first. Mushy is like a whole new rebirth! I put some leftover chicken breast, dab of light mayo, and a hard boiled egg in the blender tonight. Voila! The best damn chicken salad I've ever had in MY LIFE!!! Of course, it will probably last me a week at 4oz. a serving. Good Luck and stay away from the green beer!

I've noticed lately that ALOT of the "regular" posters have taken their picture off of their avatar. Of course it's absolutely none of my business why, and I respect their decision, but I'd like to say that I sure do miss seeing their smiling faces. I am a member of a couple other message boards for Lap-Band, but I got "hooked" on this one because of how warm, personal, and REAL everyone was. Just my two cents.

My doc told me to take one flintstone in the am and one in the pm. He also has me take one Tums in the am and pm. The tums adds calcium ( which we women all need plenty of) and it also neutralizes stomach acid early in the morning and before bed. Hope this helps.

GROSSEST Pig Out Combo of Food

Paula, CRAWFISH.....YUMMY! Let me know how the mudbugs go down banded!!!!!! I'm letting you be the guinea pig here. It would be a soft Protein, huh? (fingers crossed) -
Dang....I want one too! I start mushies next week and I think I'll miss out if I don't get one!!

Ok, surgery is a couple weeks away. I've got quite a good list from my nutritionist of what to stock up on before surgery for my liquid phase. But if you had it to do all over again, what would your last-trip-to-the-store grocery list look like to prepare for after surgery? What items did you wish you had more of, and what didn't you use? Thanks. I'm sure this will help me alot.

Hello all, 11 days post op....still enjoying those lovely liquids. But I've noticed that I've been having quite a bit of pain in my chest. Not a stabbing pain, but an extreme tightness right between my breasts. It can't be from food, 'cause I'm not having any! Is this gas? What can I do for relief? It woke me up with pain last night and it's been bothering me quite a bit at work. And I assume this is normal....I think I've read from others that they had this?
-
Other than this, I am doing great! I don't have any pain with my incisions and I don't feel sore anywhere else! It was MUCH easier than I thought. I wish you the same luck! You're going to do great!!

Megan, I met my hubby through an online matchmaking site. He's almost too good to be true. I wish you the same happiness. Not to put the cart before the horse... But just to let you know that sometimes those things ACTUALLY work! I wouldn't focus too much on letting him know all the details of your weightloss efforts right now. Just have fun getting to know each other. Your interests, expectations. Best of luck...

You know, the R word! RESTRICTION! I'm just 9 days post op and sipping on some hot tea and got to thinking....what's it like? I mean, when you are able to eat real food.....do you just feel full like we did pre-band after a whopping meal? Or is it in a different place? A tightness? A pain? I've been looking through threads but couldn't find a detailed describtion of how it felt.

Lisa, Do what you have to do, say what you have to say to defend yourself. I just don't want to see you leave this board. I miss reading your sharp wit and funny comments on so many other threads. I'm sorry to see it come to this for so many. I've avoided most all threads dealing with this and I'm pretty glad not to be involved. I speak for my preference of having your feedback and humor on so many lapband and other life topics.

You'll do great. It's normal to be nervous... But this is a great step for you. I was banded a week ago and I'm already feeling up to 95%! Keep in touch and post when you feel like it. Enjoy the good hospital drugs. Best sleep of my life!

Vera...sounds like we are in the same place...

I, too, was banded last Monday. Are you allowed to have SF pudding? Last night I made some Jello sugar free Pudding with skim milk....Pistachio flavored. HEAVEN! Oh my gosh, I savored every spoonful. Also, I make my Protein drinks with skim milk instead of Water and it tastes sooooooo much better. (And just gives you more protein and Calcium.) I also love tomatoe Soup mixed with skim milk instead of water. Yummy to me! In the moring I drink hot tea.....French vanilla flavored black tea with a splenda.......and it's splendid. Hope you find something you like....this too will pass! Nicole -
Patty...I haven't driven yet, but I have been getting out everyday. Yesterday hubby and I went to the store to buy some PRUNE JUICE. I bet you can guess why. And, of course, it works. My doc gave me liquid Lortab. I haven't been in much pain so I just take a dose at night and I sleep REALLLLLLY well. My husband got up early and left for work this morning. So I got my stepdaughter ready for school, made her breakfast and packed her lunch and then walked her to the bus stop. I feel really good and actually have to stop myself from doing too much. I'm glad to hear that you are doing great too! We are on our way!

Well, I had my surgery on Monday....came home from hospital yesterday. I really must admit that I am feeling MUCH better than I anticipated. I would describe myself as being "uncomfortable" but not really in much pain. I get the nice shot of pain in my abs just as I stand up and if move the wrong way, but other than that I am just sore. I was very pleased with the way my incisions turned out. My doc didn't use stitches---he used some kind of superglue stuff. When my hubby first saw them, he told me they looked like little pencil lines. Everyone at the hospital (Doctor's Hospital in Shreveport, LA) was angelic! I couldn't have asked for better care. If I had to list the one thing that annoyed me, it was the air tubes that hooked up to the groovy wraps they had on my calves to keep my circulation going. No, they didn't hurt...it was just that I had an IV drip in which meant I had to go pee about every hour and each time I had to call for someone to help me unhook the air tubes. My husband took a couple days off work to stay home to take care of me. But I've found that I can pretty much do everything for myself so I've given him Honey-Do projects around the house so he doesn't drive me nuts! I've been getting in my 4oz of liquid every hour without any problems. I also received a breathing device from the hospital to keep my lungs clear for the next week or so. Believe it or not, these few things have kept me pretty busy! Advice for the pre-banded: Jump on in, the water's fine! What I know now, that I didn't before: I never realized how many food commercials there are on TV. Geez! Thanks for all of your support. Patty and I were banded on the same day. We're band sisters!
-
How long after surgery did you resume "relations" with your spouse/partner? My doc didn't put any limitations on me. He said..."As soon as you feel like it!" :Bunny Welllll...... How about some real life answers?
-
P.S. I gained 6lbs in the hospital from all of the fluids! Can you believe it???
-
Thanks Jamie! Tomorrow is my BIG DAY! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
-
Penni... I get banded day after tomorrow. (I probably won't be posting much tomorrow. )

Hey DeLarla, I'm still new to all of this.....been reading/posting for about a month or so. I'll be banded this Monday. I love reading your posts jammed packed with your quick wit. The reason I am writing is this: I'll be in Las Vegas attending a conference April 24-26. I remember reading that you live there, does anyone else? Thought maybe we could get together in my off time? I won't be able to attend the Big Bash y'all are planning....but would love to meet anyone that's close to the area.
-
Silly DeLarla....the BLOW OUT I was referring to was from the other end! hee, hee.
-
I think that it would be great to meet for lunch. I've enjoyed reading your posts so much. And don't worry----nothing you've ever written has OFFENDED me! But if you have a major BLOW OUT while we are in public that might be a different story!
