  1. Quest protein bars are the best! They have 20grams of protein and lots of fiber, low in net carbs. Would be great to pack.

I believe God presents us with opportunities when we need them. Go for it in faith. He brought you to this point, He will see it through!

Awesome, thanks for sharing your story. One of my NSV goals is to wear white pants, or really any other color than black and brown!!! You go girl!!!
  4. I am post op day 4 and am replying to reassure you that keep at the sipping and it will get better. It will be better everyday. Day 4 is 10x better than day 2!! Keep a positive attitude, your mind plays a vital role in your health. Keep plugging along.
  5. No drain for me either. My dr uses one if he feels it is necessary. Must not have been for me!
  6. Great subject huh? So today is post op day3 for me and I am feeling really good so far! I do have this constant grumbling in my intestines, which can be " relieved" by walking and passing gas, but it is followed up by more soon after. To all you vets, how long should I expect this to last?

    Had surgery yesterday!

I was sleeved 6/25 and the pain was bad for me too . Hang in there, day 2 is much better! Ask for nausea medicine.
  9. Our day has come! I was good all day yesterday, but this morning I am shaking like a leaf. I am nervous as all heck... Anyone have encouragement for me????? Good luck today!

    June 25th is finally here!

    25....me too. Good luck!
  11. All I can say is WOW! I started this journey back in September 2012 and when I planned surgery for June 25th 2013, it seemed SO far away! Now it is just 2 days away and it feels very real. I have lost 40lbs on my pre-surgery journey and have 100 more to go post op. I keep hoping I am making the right choice, sometimes thinking " maybe I can do this on my own". The truth of the matter is I have tried this "on my own" many times with varying degrees of success which ultimately lead to regaining it all back, with some. I have also come to the realization that having the sleeve and losing the weight with "its" help IS doing it on my own. I am the one who will make the decisions every meal of every day to make the right choices, I am still in control of the outcome. My HW was 340 and my goal was to be under 300 by surgery time. I am proud to say this morning I was 296, and it feels good. As I made bfast for the family this morning and at a plate full of eggs and 5-6 slices of bacon, I couldn't help but think I am ready to be satisfied on less food so I can have more life. That's the trade off, and for me that's the mantra that will see me through this new chapter.... Less food, More Living! Here's to all my June 25th sleeve buddies. Good luck and God bless! Jen
  12. Hi everyone . I am Jen and I am scheduled for surgery on 6/25. I had my final appt today and received my post op instructions . After I read them through I started to panic !! I have 6 year old twins and I am wondering how I will make this work! Only eating a few spoons of food? Any sleevers out there with young kids who ate with their families in the first weeks post op? Any tips on how to navigate family meals? I hope I am not making a mistake . I have lost 40 lbs pre op (since January ) and I have 100 more to go. Pre op diet is Atkins phase 1 , but I have been low carbing since Jan . So much going through my head...maybe your kind words will keep me focused!!
  13. Should say final appt! Sorry

    Sleep study

I have a question... Your doctor would not let you use your sleep apnea machine for a week because of possible air getting in your sleeve? I wonder why my doctor is making me bring my machine to the hospital? Makes me nervous, any thoughts?
  15. Everything happens for a reason! You were not meant to have surgery that day. Good luck!

    Just got my surgery

So I am confused how gas x strips can help gas that is not in your stomach. Isn't the gas used to inflate your abdominal cavity? Maybe I am being dumb, but can someone please explain!!
  17. This morning I decided to organize my closet and bring some summer things out. I realized, as I was going through my winter stuff, that I will NEVER wear those 26/28 winter clothes again! My surgery is scheduled for 6/25!!! I began to pull my winter stuff out and bag it up. I had some second thoughts.. maybe I will need it.....then I decided to let myself believe it could really happen this time. My entire winter wardrobe (minus one outfit for comparison later) is in big garbage bags ready for donation. YIPPEEEEEEE!!!

Did awful on pre op diet

My Dr requires a low carb diet, not strictly liquids, but very low carb. It is the carbs that make the liver fatty. Different route, same final destination!
