Finally told my dad tonight about surgery. He was totally supportive and didn't freak out. Now both my parents and husband are behind me on this. So ready now for surgery next month. I think it's so crucial to have a support system of some sort even if it's a friend and not family. I know everyone in my life will not be as supportive but thankful for the ones who are. Have any of you decided against telling your family? Not really wanting all mine to know

I am so glad you asked this question. Out of all things that should concern me about surgery this is the one thing I worry about most of all. I heard strength training is a must.

My husband and I love going out to eat. I guess we are going to have to find a new hobby...a healthy one. Do many of you still enjoy restaurants?

My surgery is scheduled for next month and with it being so close my nerves are getting the best of me too. These forums have helped me tremendously. Every time I have considered backing out I stop and think of all the health risks that come with being overweight. Or the fact that after my weight loss I won't be out of breath just walking up the stairs in my house and will have so much more energy. It's a big step but it's nice having so many on here going thru the same thing and hearing so many say they have absolutely one regret only and that is that they didn't do it sooner. We can do it! I am extremely private and so far have told only those close to me. Mainly because I don't want to listen to judgement and go thru the whole song and dance every time I reveal it. Most ppl look at you as if your crazy when you tell them that your traveling to Mexico to have surgery. They aren't educated about it and to them it sounds extreme. After surgery I might be more open.

I feel your pain. I myself could lose 60 lbs and only go down one or two dress sizes. It makes no sense to me either

I am looking forward to my new weight loss journey but am just curious how to deal with questions from others. I am revealing details about my surgery with those who are close to me but don't feel comfortable sharing with acquainstances I see often. Was wondering how others on here have dealt with questions explaining your very sudden drop in weight.
