I was just sleeved by Dr Garcia 8 days ago. Things are great -
People, we should all know that up to 5 pounds can be due to fluid retention. Just stick with it and you could be losing inches.

My surgeon told me that if i don' t raise my be I will suffer from acid reflux. I have put my bed up on a railway tie and have had no problems. try it!

You should not be constipated if you are drinking non-egg based protein shakes.

PEOPLE WHO ONLY DID 3 day liquid pre op diet
Smartcook replied to rollargirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The length of preop liquid diet is according to BMI. Some have 2 weeks or 1 week or less. The reason for the diet is to shrink your liver so that they can push it out of the way easier during the surgery. -
My sleeve was March 15 and I am doing well

My surgeon said no, because when you chew you gum you swallow air and it can cause gas pains.

Just saying...that a fellow sleever took a big bite of hubby's cheese burger on day 2 post-op and was taken by ambulance to larger hospital for leak. So...really it isnt healthy or wise to go off your diet.

how long after my gastric sleeve surgery will I be able to eat solid food?
Smartcook replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am day 8 and have been on liquids the whole time. For the next 9 days I am going to puree white chicken and add it to my cream soups. After the 17 days I will be on to soft finely chopped meats like chicken, lamb and seafood, I can also have cottage cheese, vegetable juice and toast. I feel fine on this diet and dont feel hunger at all yet. Even the smells of food or watching someone else eat doesnt seem to bother me. Weird. -

everyone is different because I have not had pain or gas or any complication. I take malox before bed. I am lucky I guess -
belly button VS multiple incisions
Smartcook replied to rollargirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I was just sleeved one week ago today by Dr. Garcia. I have 5 incisions. One for the camera, one for the light, one for pumping in the CO2 and O2, one for the drain, and one for the tool. They are small and will go away if treated properly with vitamin E etc. I know people who have had this done and the incisions are no longer visible. I can imagine only one incision. -
Day 6 Post Op on Full Liquids and cannot do dairy...HELP! I'm starving!
Smartcook replied to AprilKeepingItOff's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am on day 8 of my post op diet. I have been living on Isopure shakes, chicken broth, light greek yogurt (has higher protein), strained cream soups, sugar free/fat free jello and puddings and sugar free popsicles. Not a bad variety and I have lost 10 pounds. I am going to try puree chicken breast tonight I think and add it to my cream of chicken soup. I will also make a seafood chowder and puree all the seafood. I could eat baby food too if I want too. I know this wont last forever and I will just make the best of it. Sometimes dehydration can feel like hunger or even a high acid stomach. I take a little malox to be sure. -
My surgeon told me that the Coscto shakes will cause constipation because they are egg based. He was right because I tried them as part of my preop diet. So good luck with those. I am staying with isopure.

Why can't I find the phone number for Hosptial MI in Tijuana
Smartcook posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I supposedly have an appointment with DR. Garcia on March 15 to get the sleeve surgery. However, it seems like you have to go through some type of agency. Somehow I got connected with Ready4Change but I am talking to a person in Texas? Is that correct? Here I have given out personal information to someone and I cant even verify if they are legitimate or not. I dont want to send money to someone I cant verify...just too many scams out there. -
Starting my Pre-op diet today
Smartcook replied to two_boysmom's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I will be starting mine soon too. I am same weight and BMI as you are. So, am I getting this correct? For the first 4 days of the 7 days, we have 2-3 shakes a day and a light dinner. Then the last 3 days we have just have clear fluids...is that right?
