  1. What is the thought behind crushing medications up during the post op? The pills are small and easily could be swallowed. Does it have to do with absorption? Tolerance?

    Crushing meds

This is good to hear. I am completely adverse to liquid meds and am struggling right now w the calcium and other clotting med. I can't imagine more meds crushed and mixed!

May 22 Dallas/Plano TX area.. anyone else?

I'm in east Dallas -so Sharon we are neighbors! I am scheduled at 1:30 today at southwestern. Sharon are you already sleeved? I am NPO and dying for water!!! Need to quit thinking about it.
  4. I scheduled today. Had a late massage last night. Was afraid it would be a while not to mention I needed to calm my anxiety.
  5. I go Thursday too. My sweet little Italian mother has made me homemade chicken and beef broth. It has been a life saver. Also to add a little spice I have Knorrs Calde de Tomatoe. It is a great tomato bouillon with a little kick. High in sodium but I'm not drinking it everyday.
  6. All the rest of this aside I think the OP was out of line and quite judgmental. I am not weighing the validity of their opinion but to initiate a post which basically called out the majority of people struggling with this process is a bit high and mighty to the rest of us - when the reality is - if the OP would be honest and come clean they probably have struggled w similar issues. Otherwise they wouldn't be here. A little compassion and empathy goes much further than judging and degrading. IMO

    First day of pre-op diet!

Sugar free Popsicles are good to substitute for pure liquid. When I got really hungry I ate a piece of string cheese.

    Anyone :)

I'm May 9th but I've been on this road since January. Now that its getting close I am getting a little freaked by it but no turning back
  9. I quit two months before the procedure - it's been hard but I am praying to not pick it up again....the money savings alone makes it worth it. The only time I struggled with it were the first three days of my pre-op diet
  10. I'm day 7. I have lost 8 pounds. I have stuck to the diet religiously but this morning I woke up hungry. Fought it all day. Had my protein and veggies for dinner and I admit I had a little cheat. I so desperately craved salad and realized it would be months. So I ate half of a diviner salad. I have to believe that with all the variations one small salad will not be the end for me. Tomorrow back to the religion. (As a side note, in the last three months I quit smoking. Gave up sugar, carbs, caffeine and carbonation. I'm not going to beat myself over a salad. At least it wasn't a sundae!!!
  11. I am on day 5 of pre-op and it really does get better - the first three days are the worst - the sf popsicles and broth were my saving graces. you will do great
  12. Hi Melle - I am May 9th too. Haven't spent much time focused on the surgery but pre diet has been rough. This is day three for me and I pray it's easier than yesterday. I recently quit smoking so not eating is making me obsess on smoking. I am taking this weekend to try and get my life ready for this. Cleaned the frig out yesterday. Organizing samples of Protein Drinks etc. Keep me posted on your progress. I am right there w you.

  15. I'm doing it too....I think the first few days are just tough

    hot yoga

I have tried it and it was horrendous. They locked us in and the smell was nauseating. I asked a physician about it and they warned against it. That level of heat is not good for you for that long. There's actually a reason why you aren't suppose to spend a lot of time in a jot tub. Same thing in a room 120+ degrees
