214.2 I've got to step it up this week, and it's not going to be easy -- lots going on!
-
Bea, Thanks so much for changing my goal on the spreadsheet. I didn't want to put even more work on you -- didn't realize you were going to make the change on there, but I really appreciate it. (It also gives me an actual attainable goal.) I'll try not to have pipe dreams for the next challenge.

214.9 this morning I'm obviously not going to make my goal of getting into Onederland, so I'm changing my personal goal to getting below 212. That would mean 100 pounds lost! (I wish I had set it at that in the first place -- much more realistic for this time of year.)

217.6 - Way too much wine this week. Carnival season is upon us. (At least it's in the right direction, however small.)
-
218.2 I have no one to blame but myself. I'm going to do better this week!
-
1/10 — 217.9 Not much, but at least it's headed in the right direction. I had some concerns that it might not.
-
Today, I'm at 218.9. I know it might be difficult, but I don't think I have any choice but to set my V-Day goal as 199.9 — got to get under that number at some point.

What are you having for Christmas Dinner?
whodatgirl replied to gamergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We had pear salad and grillades and grits for Christmas Eve dinner. I skipped the salad and had two small pieces of meat, a tiny piece of bread, and some grits. (I tried to avoid eating too much gravy.) I had about half of a chocolate chip cookie, but several glasses of wine. We're having eggs Benedict this morning, but I won't have the English muffin. I'll probably only have about a half of a Bloody Mary. (I find that they really fill me up quickly.) Tonight, we're having a standing rib roast, asparagus bundles, twice-baked potatoes, and a Buche de Noel. I'll be happy with just a small bite of the Yule log. Hope that's true of the potatoes too. Merry Christmas everyone! -
Please include me. I will need the motivation. The first weigh-in is just three days before Epiphany and the beginning of a season filled with lots of parties and eating and drinking — the very first being on King's Day. Hopefully, this challenge will give me the willpower to not have a piece of king cake every single day during Carnival — maybe I can limit it to a tiny bite on Fridays.

I had my surgery June 6th, and I haven't had any hair loss. I've taken my biotin regularly, and I've done my best to get my protein every day. I know that it may sound nuts to many on here, but I truly believe in the law of attraction. I made up my mind before surgery that I was going to have an easy surgery with no complications and no hair loss, and that's exactly what I've had. My surgery was a breeze; I have had no trouble tolerating any foods, and I've never even felt nauseated.

Scared of losing hair............
whodatgirl replied to Memily's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on June 6th. I've taken Biotin every day since about a week before surgery, and I've always eaten all of my protein. I have not had any hair loss at all. Fingers crossed that it stays this way, but from everything I've read, I'm out of the "danger zone" now. -
Mine have shrunk. My fingers look longer and thinner, but I don't have any pics. Someone said to me the other day, "Those don't even look like your hands anymore." The only problem is that they look much older.

Has anyone done Mexico all alone?
whodatgirl replied to Butterflyhigh's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went alone, and I'm glad that I did. I liked being able to nap in the hospital and then at the hotel. I travel alone quite a bit, and I had no complications at all, so it was all smooth sailing for me. I was a little concerned about flying so soon after surgery. (I've always had a fear of having a DVT.) I just made sure to put on the compression socks that the hospital had given me, and all was well. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. -
I had a drain, but it was removed two days post-op. I didn't leave the hospital with it.

Free wireless connections at the Marriott in TJ ?
whodatgirl replied to Italiancurves's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The info says that they will only give you wifi for one device, but just ask for another password. They gave me one for each of my devices (twice — before surgery and post-op — ended up having four passwords while I was there). I kept my phone in airplane mode the whole time I was there. I used viber for all of my communication. -
I am a school administrator, and I have the entire month of July and three weeks in August off. I had my surgery on June 6, took about a week off, and then worked from home/stopped by the office for another week. It was perfect timing. I was so glad to have my surgery during the summer. It gave me a chance to really work on my eating plan, work out regularly, and just kind of get used to life with a sleeve. I would highly recommend having the surgery as soon as school is out for the summer or even Christmas.

I go to yoga class twice a week now. I love it! I've always dabbled in it. I have the "Yoga for Heavyweights" DVD, and it helped me find my own modifications. I've only lost 70 pounds, but I can't believe the difference. I take two different types of classes — one strength class and one relaxation class. After my strength class, I am dripping with sweat and often wake up sore the next day. Not only does it feel great, it's definitely changing my body into the body that I dream of having.

How did you handle donating your oversized clothes? Did fear of weight regain rear its ugly head?
whodatgirl replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have given a lot of my clothes to a wonderful local charitable organization, but I also took 168 pieces to a brand new plus-size consignment shop. Even though it is called a consignment shop, she was so happy to have so much inventory from me that she bought the clothes outright instead of consigning them. I got over $700 for the items I took her. I turned down her offers for some of my nicer pieces — evening gowns, etc., and I'm going to list them on eBay or poshmark. It's nice to have a little cash that I can use to buy a few smaller things. I purged my closet again this weekend, and I have three huge suitcases full and in my car ready to take to her tomorrow. I am getting rid of everything that is even a little bit too big for me. I'm determined not to go back, but there is that little voice in the back of my head telling me that I'm going to regret getting rid of everything. (I did keep one pair of jeans to take that requisite "standing in one leg" picture.) -

I was trying to find a source for a large quantity of green peanuts last year. (It takes forever to fill the little plastic bags when you're making groceries if you want a whole bunch.) I stopped by the peanut man, and he sent me to Restaurant Depot. I was able to buy a big mesh crawfish bag full to boil, eat, and freeze, so I had them all year. (You can freeze them before or after you boil them — it seems to work fine either way.)

I always get one when I'm on strong antibiotics, and it was no different after my surgery. I called a doctor friend and asked him to call me in a Diflucan. After getting it filled, I decided it would take up too much room in my stomach, so I used the Monistat three day topical kit, and, luckily, it took care of things. That was almost three months ago, an I haven't had one since.

I have one almost every day too. Don't know what I would do without them.
