  1. Happy 42nd Birthday stratgazer!

  2. I'm a month and 1/2 post band and as of the last few days when i try to eat my stomach fills full of thick phlegm and my stomach seems to tighten to the point its very painful....eventually i'll throw up all the phlegm and feel better. This is something new and occurs as soon as the first bite of food is swallowed. The pain from my stomach tightening is unbearable but very different from the pain from a obstruction. The only thing that is different with me in the last few days is alergy season has set in for me. Its my first alergy season since i've been banded. I wonder if my alergies have any thing to do with this new condition. What are the symptoms of a slippage? Stratgazer

    aches,pains,diet.

Hi Everyone. I got my 2nd fill yesterday. So far I can feel the difference in restriction. The first fill didnt last long, no more than a few days but I was told to expect that. Anyhow since yesterdays fill I've noticed that when I eat meat that i'm full after about 3 oz. Today I had some refried beans for a change and I was able to eat around 7 or so oz. Perhaps it was even more. Would this be normal? My main question would be is it normal to feel odd aches and pain in your chest area. I also get aches/pains in my left shoulder. The aches/pains seem to come on quick and sudden and then are gone. Sometimes after I eat I get a sharp pain under my left breast, when this happens if i'll get up and walk around i'll end up burping a few times and that pain goes away, its the other aches/pains that concern me. Of course being overweight I cant help but to be concerned that the pains could be from my heart. I had a heart study before my lap band and was given the "go ahead". Anyhow are these aches/pains normal?

    1st fill have questions

Just had my first fill today...not for sure what would be safe to eat. Had a small bite of shaved hamm and it seemed to just rest on top of the pouch/band and hurt. Not so painful I need medical attention but uncomfortable. Should I remain on a liquid diet for a few days...my doctor told me i could eat steak but i just dont see that happening...does that "pain" go away or is this just what i can expect as long as i have the band?? strat
  5. Hi, My name is Cory. A few months ago I started the ball rolling to get the lap band done. Yesterday I had my pre-op meeting with my Doctor and had a date to get the lap band done 19 days from then, enough time to get use to the idea of the pre-op 10 sugar free liquid diet. This morning I get a call from my Dr telling me my lap band procedure would be this next Tuesdays, 5 days away. I was under the impression the 10 day sugar free liquid diet was a must but i was told i'd do fine with only doing it for 5,,,should i be concerned? When I attended the very first seminar to gain knowledge of the lap band i left there feeling like there was hope for me to lose weight and to be able to "live" again. I have to admit the closer I've gotten to my procedure date, the more nervous i've become. I dont really know what to expect "post lap band". My question to anyone and everyone reading this is,,what can I expect after my procedure? Is it worth it? Any regrets? Am I making the right decision? How much weight can i expect to lose? yes these are questions i've asked my doctors/nurses but would like to hear from a outsider. Any help would be apprciated, thanks!!! Cory
