My Doctor Wants Me To Eat More!
Healthier2day1227 replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am right there with you. I was sleeved June 19 2013 and average about 1100-1200 cal a day. Those are the guidelines from my dr and I'm still losing. If I eat below 1000 I can feel pretty hungry. But some days I eat a lot less, it just depends. -
Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!
Healthier2day1227 replied to AshleyMidwife's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm 5'10. My highest weight last Jan was 298. My day of surgery weight was 270. I currently weigh 215 and am 6 months out. My personal goal is 190 and the only reason I picked that goal is that is what I weighed when I wore a 12-14. But who knows! I am losing about 2 pounds per week the closer I get to goal. -

He is, but sometimes the kids around him aren't.From the minute he was diagnosed, he has been a open book about it.. When he was little (5) He would tell kids I have tics.. Not the kind that bite but... Then he would go into the whole history of Tourette's. And the kids would say ok and life and play would go on. Now he's 11 and in junior high. It's not always as easy. He has two Major strikes he is gifted smart and he makes funny movements.. Oh three strikes! He has a momma that always wants to kick a kids azz if he messes with my kid:p Ya, the kids can be mean. With my son either he is oblivious to their teasing or they just don't tease him. He's funny though, he said he wishes he had the kind of Tourette's where you blurt out obscenities because then he could get away with cussing. Lol. And What About Bob is one of his favorite movies!

Its part of what makes him unique and unstoppable.. He will accomplish big things. Shit he already has.. Lol I don't know half of what that kid is talking about most times He can get bogged down in the details sometimes and at age 11 sometimes puts to much pressure on himself to produce (produce what I do not know) and invent. I get him though, with his obsessive thought process. I sometimes feel paralyzed in my thoughts and behaviors.. Sounds like a neat kid.

Yes my son is wonderful and creative and I wouldn't trade that for "normalcy." His co morbid is ADHD which has turned out to be a pain to treat because most medications can aggravate the tics, so we are still trying to get that right. His neurologist seems to think it might get better over time. He is however very moody lol.

That's interesting, my son has Tourette's too. It's very manageable with his meds but poor kid, before he was officially diagnosed and treated his twitches, tics and sounds were very distracting. He's been medicated since he was 9 and we are very happy with the results. Interesting because I don't know anyone else who has it.

Perspective On Portions
Healthier2day1227 replied to Kattastic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes this happened to me at Thanksgiving because I kind of put a lot on my plate because I was self conscious and then I just pushed the food around. Kind of silly. But also scary because I had no idea whatsoever of the quantity I ate. My MIL is obsessed with what I order at restaurants and she doesn't know about my surgery, so I mostly did this to placate her. I'm glad I'm back to my usual tracking because I felt a little out of control. -
Am I Eating Enough ?
Healthier2day1227 replied to rinrinrinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To make the rest of you feel better, 33-34 pounds in 7 weeks is not slow at all! I don't know why your surgeon even put that idea in your head. You both are doing great! To put it in perspective, I have only lost 52 pounds in almost six months and my surgeon has said nothing negative about my loss rate which is a little over 2 pounds a week (now that's slow, but still happy). My surgeon said everyone loses at a different rate and to just not compare myself to others. Good advice. -
It will get easier as time passes. You won't always feel the way you do now. I noticed eating became more pleasant again around month 4. Hang in there!

What's Your Plan For Thanksgiving Dinner?
Healthier2day1227 replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to be selective so I can try a sampling. I will skip stuffing bc it's too filling and instead have turkey, veggies and yams. I will probably skip potatoes. Hopefully my MIL doesn't do her usual and point out in front of everybody, is that all your eating?! Lets just hope she's too busy with family. Actually we are doing two Thanksgivings because my Dad has to fly out of town on an emergency so we are doing hubby's family Thurs and mine Fri. I've already decided no tracking, I'm going to listen to my body but give MFP a rest. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! -

I have a stomach pain that comes and goes, usually gone for about a week and then flares up for a day. My Dr put me on Prilosec 40 mg which seems to help, but last week it came back and I discontinued the Prilosec which has stomach pain as a side effect. It stayed away for about 4 days and then last night the pain was so bad, along with vomiting, that the on call dr said to go to the ER. (It was 11:00 ). The ER dr gave me anti nausea meds, liquid lidocaine and some sort of drink for my stomach. She also gave me a new scrip for Pepcid Ac to see if that's easier on my stomach. The pain was bad, it almost felt like persistent cramps along with gnawing hunger that wouldn't leave after eating. I'm worried it might be an ulcer, although I don't have blood in urine or feces so that's good. Meanwhile I have stopped all acidic foods because I was eating mandarins. Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing or is there anyone with ulcers that could describe it to me? Thank you!

Stomach Pain...ulcer?
Healthier2day1227 replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you! I have an appt with my dr in two weeks but I am going to call him in a few days to let him know how the Pepcid is going. Today I feel great, no pain no hunger. And I haven't had any oranges or coffee. -

Healthier2day1227 replied to adamfishaa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! I was a nervous wreck surgery day. My surgery went smoothly...my recovery was pretty easy. My hospital roommate situation not so much! My first roommate was an elderly woman who didn't speak English and pooped her bed...twice. Then she moved out and they gave me a lady who had nonstop around the clock visitors, some even spent the night. So those are my "funny" hospital stories. Haha not so funny but these people made me look forward to coming home and made my family look sane! -
