    Gall bladder removal...soon!

Thanks everyone! I am home now. I'm a little sore but feeling so much better than before. They said the gb was quite large from the stones. I'm just glad it's out.

    Gall bladder removal...soon!

Thank you everybody! I still haven't had the surgery, due to insurance reasons they are transferring me to a different hospital. I can't wait to go home and have something to eat, they won't let me eat anything because it will cause me pain and also they don't know when the surgery is. For those of you that had this, did you have pain before? And is this kind of something that happens after weight loss? Or from being obese prior?

    Eating Pace

My doctor is ridiculous. He wants me to wait seven minutes between bites. It's more like a minute and a half at best.

    You're so vain...

Yes I admit it! I had no health issues going in besides obese, but no other complications so I will admit I was motivated by sheer vanity! And I love shopping now, there are so many better options. And I don't hide from the camera I even take selfies lol!

    Trader Joes

There's another thread floating around about this too. I love their turkey jerkey and their nonfat Greek yogurt. Also their frozen coconut shrimp is good and they have good prices on nuts. They have a chicken asada in the refrigerated section that's good too. They have lots of good spices and their tomato basil marinara sauce in a jar is very tasty. Have fun browsing!

    Questions about diet after surgery...

It sounds like you are right on track. I don't eat refined carbs either. But I do get carbs from fruit and beans. I eat either Greek yogurt or a scrambled egg for breakfast. Lunch either chili, chicken soup or a chicken breast on top of greens. Dinner I eat what I make for the family but not the starch. So if I make them turkey burgers, for example, I just eat the patty and tomato. If I have an evening snack it is usually fruit or string cheese. I often supplement with a protein shake if I'm low. I average about 900-1100 cal per day, 90 G protein and 40 g carb. I've lost 130 pounds and am 6 pounds from my personal goal.

    Has anyone tried paleo?

I know. I eat chili several times a week. The no dairy thing might be a deal breaker. I might lean more toward primal.
  12. I know the way we eat is practically paleo anyways but wondering if anyone's tried it post op. What I'm most interested in finding out is if you tried it did you track calories? And did you have success? My friend lost 50 pounds on paleo and swears she didn't track calories, I guess because people generally don't overeat meat fruit and veggies. I am at my surgeons goal but 7 pounds from my personal goal. So I'm thinking of shaking it up.

I will be part of this! Hoping it takes me to my final goal. My surgeon is happy with where I'm at now but I have another number in mind!

    5 months out & struggling

I don't think she was referring to you but another person who made a comment. Your comment was supportive. And to the one who started this thread hang in there. We all struggle. You have done great. I like the advice about not having it in the house but that can be difficult if we don't live alone. Just take it a day at a time and you can start over anytime.

    Back pain after major loss

I have that same issue. New back pain after loss. Glad to hear there's really a reason for it.
  17. I've lost 120 with the sleeve and have a healthy BMI finally. My surgeon says I'm at goal but I just want to lose 5 more so I have wiggle room lol. I tried to get my doctor to give me phentermine but she instead suggested surgery so here I am! Good luck it is totally possible to achieve your goals with this surgery.
  18. Does anyone have this experience? Some days I have good restriction other days I feel like I have very little. I still don't overeat and I still track my calories. I am 11 months out have lost 120 and am still losing. But, for example, for dinner tonight I ate one cup of turkey chili and I was still hungry. Usually this satisfies me. An hour later I ate another half cup because I still felt hungry. Also some days I can barely finish a cup of soup and other days it doesn't seem to fill me up. Today I felt hungry no matter what I ate and I do take an acid reducer twice a day. I am going to ask my dr about this when I see him next week but I was wondering if anyone else goes through this where each day is so different from the next.

Some days lots of restriction others not so much

    that's very interesting, thanks!

    hunger....

I have hunger too. I am 11 months out and like you it is worse at night. Try to budget your calories to save room for an evening snack and then find something that fills you up. Some of my snacks are a light cheese stick or babybel, or strawberries or watermelon bc they are very filling. Sometimes if calories allow I will have a protein drink and that really fills me up. Also making sure you get in all your water helps.

Some days lots of restriction others not so much

Give this a read: http://arbl.cvmbs.colostate.edu/hbooks/pathphys/digestion/stomach/motility.html The bottom line is whatever moves from the stomach to the intestines must be in a liquidy, mushy state. The longer it takes to get to that state, the longer you are going to feel restriction ... the longer you will be full ... Depending on the soup, of course, the time from when it lands there to getting to a mushy state will be far less compared to eating a chicken breast, especially for us since we no longer drink while we eat. The body is going to have to secrete all the liquids to get it to that phase. We are not assisting the mushy process by drinking liquids. Make sense? thanks for the interesting read. Makes sense.

thanks this is very helpful! I'm glad it's not just me.

Some days lots of restriction others not so much

some days I can eat 3 ounce of chicken on top of 1 cup greens and feel good but not full, other days I can't. And a grilled turkey patty with nothing on the side satisfies me but I don't feel the restriction like I used to before I was done with the party. I've been really diligent about no carbs because I'm close to goal so maybe without the carbs to fill me I am having more room. Sometimes if I still feel hungry I will have a few strawberries since they are low cal and filling.

Some days lots of restriction others not so much

With a burger patty or a small piece of chicken I will feel satisfied but not full like I used to feel in the old days. But then I will have days when I can't eat a full piece. It just depends on the day. Maybe it has to do with water. But I measure and eat only that amount (3 oz) even if I still feel hungry and I stay within my calorie range. Yesterday was a real challenge in that regard.
