Dissapointed with pre op diet results

My pre op diet is 5 Protein shakes a day plus broth if I need savory. But even though I'm following it I'm not seeing the results I should so I don't know...

    pre-op liquid diet

I'm with you! What's been helping me is I found some organic broth that is 0 cal. I know it's no nutritional value, but the savory flavor and the fact that its hot seems to be helping. I'm on day 4 of a three week so I know I have to try to mentally trick myself and stay strong or I won't hang in. Good luck!

on pre op diet and craving a meal!

I so relate to this thread! My doc gave me a three week liquid diet for pre op-insanity! I am on day 4 and was hoping it would be getting easier but it's not. My salvation is organic chicken broth at zero calories and fills me up a bit. Also drinking a lot of water. I've just been trying to give myself a pep talk about how important the liver shrink is.

Had popcorn on my preop liquid diet!

I'm laughing right now because I'm on day 4 of a 3 week all liquid pre op and we went to the movies today and I did the exact same thing! I think it'll be ok because everything levels out. The main thing is you don't want to gain, and I don't think you have anything to worry about.
  8. I like the Nectar Cookies n cream flavored protein powder. It tastes great and I ordered it on amazon bc if you spend $25 you get free shipping. Each tub is $24.95 so I had to order two, but will def use both.

  12. I'm only on day two of my three week pre op diet and I gotta say its been a challenge. My diet is 5 protein shakes a day, 800 cal max. I'm super hungry and have a headache. I am drinking lots of water. Will it get easier after a few days? I don't know how I can hang for 19 more!

    Two quick questions

    1. Where do I get gas x strips? I could only find the chew tabs at Target. 2. For dining out post op my coordinator gave me a card to present at restaurants if a waiter gives a hard time about ordering a child's order or half portion. Has anyone ever encountered the need for this? I hope I never need to use it!

    advice please, re liquid diet

My surgeon told me to expect to lose about a pound a day. Another way to figure it out is this: how many calories do you normally eat in a day? If it is 2,000 cal and a liquid diet is on a average 800 cal you are taking in 1,200 less cal a day. A deficit of 3,500 cal loses one pound. So at that rate you'd lose approx a pound every 2-3 days. Of course if you are normally taking in over that, the pounds come off faster.
