    June 2013 Sleevers GROUP

I'm eating about 1200 cal a day which is the recommendation of my surgeons office. I'm losing about 7-8 pounds a month at this rate. I don't think I could dip too far below 1200 because I do feel hungry. Bummer!

    Best and worst "compliments"

Yes this surgery is definitely not the easy way. My surgeon emphasized that going in and boy do I believe him now! I have a friend who is obese and has been approached by her doctor twice to have this surgery. She told me she will never give up diet coke! And that's such a small factor, we give up so much more especially the first six weeks following surgery plus the Pre op. but I love my sleeve. I love that I eat one small serving, I love that I no longer think about getting my money's worth at buffets, I love that I finally have a tool that works.

How Long til Hunger Nerve comes back?

I noticed it return about three months and also it's kind of an uncomfortable feeling for me almost like a pain. But then I only eat very little to fill back up.

    Liquid protein -YUKKKKK!

Hang in there. I like the premier protein ready to drink shakes. They aren't thick and chalky or gritty. I even drink them post op to make sure I get my protein in.

    Still stuck

I was stalled for 23 days then showed a 3 pound loss now stalled again. But if I look at my weight loss on a monthly rather than weekly basis there are no stalls. Don't worry it'll normalize again.

How much did you lose on the liquid diet?

10 pounds in three weeks. And after the sleeve that's about my rate too.

    tall female sleevers...

When I asked my surgeon about a goal weight he asked me what I weighed when I was happy with my weight/looks. I'm 5'10" and for me this was 180. But I have been as low in my adult life as 160 but that was college and I was wearing a size 7. Not sure if that's realistic, I'm 40 with two kids. I will be happy in a size 12 which is about 175-180 at my frame. HW: 308 Day of surgery 270 Sleeved 6/19/13 CW: 230

    Halloween Weight loss Challenge

Started at 234 today 230.4. Ended my stall! Woohoo!
  10. I'm so glad to hear that! Give it time and of those aren't the right meds they can always try something else.
  11. I hope you are getting help for the depression. I was diagnosed bipolar 17 years ago and there have been times when I didn't have insurance, but most counties have a department of mental health that has free services. Even if you don't have insurance look into this. You are worth it! I really feel like the hopelessness is tied to overeating and once the depression is properly treated the other should be more manageable. I don't know what medication if any you are taking but I think it needs to be reevaluated because if you are feeling hopeless that could mean its not working. When you start wanting to kill yourself or fantasizing about this it's a serious problem. I've pretty much accepted that I need to stay on my meds. But the overeating could be you trying to medicate your depression. And don't lose hope you can start over! Give yourself credit for how far you have come. You can turn this around! You were strong enough to have this surgery now use that same strength to take care of yourself. I wish you the best.

    Big Train!

Where have you seen it besides Sams and online? I wonder if Costco has it. It sounds great!

    Hair loss

I was sleeved the June 19th too. My brush needs to be cleaned of hair after every use and it seems like a lot. Haven't noticed it in the shower yet but I shed all day. Well here we go!

100 poounds down in 6 months

I think we are in the same boat. I was sleeved 6/13/13 and have lost 48 since then. My weight loss has slowed to about 1 pound a week. It gets discouraging but at least the number is going down not up.

    well well well

Try sautéing shrimp in a pan. It cooks up real fast and is high protein low carb, low cal. I made some in olive oil with fresh herbs and garlic and lemon. I know the temptation is there, and you are right we've all been there. But if you find alternatives it will help. You will learn quickly. Actually I think you can taste the shrimp better when it's not fried.
