Questions for some post opps..
ruthie74 replied to GoRoGo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tend to get very nauseous after surgery. I let my anesthesiologist know. I got a patch behind my ear and anti-nausea meds pumped into my IV so I actually had no nausea afterwards. The only thing that bothered me the most was the gas pain. It was very intense for me that they gave me a shot of morphine to calm the pain down. Good luck on your surgery!! Many good vibes being sent your way! -

I did! I had low grade fever the whole entire first week. My doc said it was ok as long as it didn't go over 101 Today marks my 2 weeks post op still dealing with weakness, a bit of nausea, and not reaching my Protein goal

That is just too funny!! Lmao!

I had my hubby rub my back or pat my back like how would when you burp a baby. It helped a lot!

Today I graduate to soft foods. I'm happy but why am I so scared??? Maybe I should stay one more week on puréed? Today marks my second week and my doc said to move to soft foods. Why am I so scared?

I agree! There should be some kind of universal diet we should follow after surgery I'm going to wait one more week. I can't even finish my purée foods. Maybe by next Monday ill be ready

Hi! I have a question. Yesterday I woke up feeling very thirsty. I got up and took my meds and drank my Protein shake that I tend to sip throughout the day. Yesterday I felt so thirsty right after lunch that from that point on that I stopped drinking my shake so I can fit as much Water in as possible. I just woke a bit ago and I feel so thirsty! I weighed myself and I lost 5 pounds in 2 days. My ave has been about a pound a day. Is this normal? Am I doing the right thing by drinking water instead of my protein? I drink Isopure. I find water to be way more thirst quenching. I am struggling to get my protein in but I am getting in more as each day passes I am 12 days post op. Thanks in advance!

Ok I know there are a million threads out there on thirst but here goes I feel good, I have energy. I am 14 days post-op BUT I get very cotton mouth and feel super thirsty all the time and my urine is so dark. I know dark urine indicates dehydration but wouldn't I feel tired and sick? I have been drinking as much Water as possible still struggling to get my Protein in but it gets better day by day. What do you guys think???? Thanks!

I'm almost 2 weeks now and I have to say the worst was the first week but I am starting to not feel that pain as much anymore. Problem with that is now I'm taking to big of sips causing me to get nauseous now! So just because the pain isn't there anymore I have to remember to still continue to take small sips.

I'm trying to drink Water but every time I take a sip this weird feeling goes down my chest and into the stomach it kinda hurts...like really bad gas Am I taking to much water in at once? Is it normal to feel that strange feeling? I want to stay hydrated Thanks in advance! I just want to make sure it's normal. I am 3 days post op

2 days post op and in miserable pain when i sit or lay down
ruthie74 replied to wmbt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 days post op and I was miserable the first 7 days. Pain, gas, dehydrated. I have to say I took everyone's advice and I walked and I rested. I'm still talking it easy and I'm still am walking. Congrats!!! -
I'm a little over a week out and I am barely starting to be able to keep things down. As long as you keep hydrated and try to get as much protein in (isopure) was my life saver.

I live right by Metea high school!

I am one week 2 days out! I am experiencing ups and downs but doing ok! I had my post-op today Nd everything looks good. He said I can continue taking me pain meds as needed. I take them at night so I can sleep comfy. I have to say I am not hungry but I miss food. At moments I regret my decision but I know it's just my emotions getting the best of me I still walk nice and slow but I am moving. I still can't get that Protein in but each day I have been getting in a little more I have lost a totally of 20 pounds counting the weight I lost the week before the surgery Many thanks yous and blessings to everyone that has helped me get through this rough first week!!
