Should I be disappointed?
HypnotizingHazel replied to artisticbritt77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Be HONEST with yourself. I had my surgery in April 2013. I lost the first 100 by November 2013. Since then, 29 lbs has been slow to come off. I've been at 190 for about three months. One day, I thought about it and realized I was slipping into old habits... Eating carbs like crackers, chips, crispy carbs that don't aggravate my sleeve. I was also not exercising at ALL because I was tired. I've realized that if I'll get my butt out of bed and go work out, I have SO MUCH more energy!!! It's a mind game. When I wanted salty food the other day, I made a boiled egg and put salt and pepper on it. My sleeve was thrilled with this!!!! I've lost 3lbs since starting back to the gym and eating healthy again. Refocus!!! -
Broke up with boyfriend
HypnotizingHazel replied to karen44's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Look at it this way girl... Your new sexy body is on it's way OUT! My exhusband married our home wrecking "friend" the day of my surgery. 14 months later, she is as big as a house!!! She just delivered a baby boy. I have lost 129lbs +165 of a sorry ass man. He texted me telling me how good I was looking. NO FOOD FEELS AS GOOD AS KNOWING HE REGRETS THE DAY HE LEFT. Stick to your plan and he will be the one eating twinkles and crying before long. -
Sleeve or Lapband?
HypnotizingHazel replied to Stephanie Celeste's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was leaning toward the band when I first visited my surgeon. She explained that studies show that up until three years, weight loss and mantainance are very comparable. At five years, however, the sleeve patients are maintaining the loss. I had my surgery done in April 2013. I've lost 129lbs and I'm thrilled with my results! -

Check the batteries in your scale. My scale has scared me a few times. Thankfully, new batteries fixed it! -

Vomiting white foam and diarrhea, now dizzy
HypnotizingHazel replied to bruhjell's topic in The Gals' Room
In Dec 2013, I was 8 mo post op. I woke up Christmas morning very achy. I soaked in a hot bath for an hour. When I stood up, I felt dizzy for just a split second. When I came to, I was laying in a pool of blood outside of the tub. I had fainted, fallen forward, and struck the bathroom sink (across from the tub) face first. It broke my nose, bilateral sinuses, my upper jaw, knocked out my top three front teeth, skinned my gums, and the knob tore my lower lip in two. Dehydration after our surgery happens SO fast. If you're feeling dizzy at all, go see your doctor!!! $38,000 later, I still have for reconstructive surgeries to go! -

Stall :(. Can Others Share Their Stories.
HypnotizingHazel replied to Abigal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There really seems to be no set number of days a stall will last. I've noticed I lose at least 5 pounds the week after my period. Sometimes I've eaten something BAD and I'll lose 5! Just be patient! If you are sticking to high protein, low carb, lots of water, you should do well!!! Make sure you're tracking with something like myfitnesspal and track your weight with something like the my weight app. A great app to hold you accountable for exercise is gympact. If you don't want to involve money, you can use runkeeper or map my walk. Good luck and I hope this was helpful! -
Carb Cravings & Hungry
HypnotizingHazel replied to oceanblue's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 7 months post op. I asked about the 5 day pouch test. She highly encouraged me to do it to lose the 3 pounds I need to lose to get to 100 pounds lost. She said its a FANTASTIC way to get back on track when the carb monster has gotten out of control! -
Stall :(. Can Others Share Their Stories.
HypnotizingHazel replied to Abigal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 7 months post op. There have been lots of stalls along the way! Each stall makes you doubt you will continue to lose. I'm here to tell you it WILL continue! Make good food choices, exercise, and it will happen faster. Make a few bad choices, don't exercise and it will still happen, only slower. You will succeed! Good luck to you! -
Suggestions For Thickend Liquid Stage?

A fruit smoothie! I had a cup of pineapple in its own juice, a half of a banana, and ice in a smoothie. YUM!!!!! Try it! -
Lupus and RA are very closely related. They are both auto immune disorders.

For a long time, I've told people I'm fat because I love food. I'm realizing that I need to change the way I think about food. If I can convince my brain that the only reason I need it is for fuel, then maybe I have a chance at being successful this time. They say you replace one addiction for another... What HEALTHY addiction will you replace your food with? I'm going to find exercise that I enjoy! What about you?

vaginal bleeding post op
HypnotizingHazel replied to AshleySkinnyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm an RN. It's coming from your uterus. The stress triggers your hormones and causes you to start before you normally would. When your drains are removed, your body will naturally reabsorb the fluid. The drains just speed up that process! Hope this helps! -

HypnotizingHazel replied to Lee 316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Approval process SUCKED!!' No one seems to thi k it's a priority, but to us, it's a chance for a new beginning. For most of them, they've never been through the process and have no sympathy for the "Little People"! Hang in there. I was approved March 12th and surgery is April 18th! -

When I called BCBS of Texas, they have a list of surgeons with the lowest complication rates. I chose my Dr. from that list. -
