    Am I The Only One?

Hi, I am 53 years old and was sleeved on Jan 24, 2013. I have lost a total of 80 lbs so far, with 55 being post surgery. Due to a congenital heart issue, I have always had huge difficulties with losing any weight at all. This is the very first time in my life that I feel have been successful with dealing with losing weight. I still would like to lose another 60-70 lbs, so there is plenty more work to do. I dont focus so much on the amount of weight I have lost,or have to lose, but rather concentrate on my health and building my strength. For the first time in my life I like to exercise...I now love going to the gym and strength training. I am getting around much more easily and feel better overall. I feel like I have control over my body and over my life in general. This definately has been a very positive experience in my life. I do think the experience is different for people in the over 50 age group, losses being slower and the motivations are different for us. Overall it has been a great opportunity for me. I am sure it will be for you as well. Take good care and enjoy the journey!! Susan

Calling All ... Winners and Losers

I think it is pretty common that people do not comment on the weight loss. I am not sure if its the "pc" culture we have, or if people just dont feel comfortable commenting on others appearances. But 40 lbs is certainly worth a "wow you look great!!!"

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

Surgery date is 1-31-2013. Hw 322 Sw 301 Cw 268 total loss of 54 lbs. I have been stalled for the last 2 weeks, but am amping up the exercise and the protein and working on actually hitting 64 oz of water (that is tough for me) Here's to breaking the stall soon!! I typically lose very very slowly so for me this is lightening fast speed!!

    Food progression post op

I was on liquids for 2 weeks then moved to pureed stage. I hate the pureed thing. 2 more days and onto soft foods!!

Surgery was Jan 24 2013 and am 25 pounds down since surgery total of 46 down so far. Had about a week of discomfort, but still am having issues with getting more than 24 ounces of water in daily. Protein is pretty much over 50 grams daily.

    What's Unique About Being A 50S Sleever?

Hi Everyone, It looks like the thread has gone pretty quiet, but I figured I would post my story here for anyone more recent. I am 53 and just was sleeved on Jan 24, 2013. I did it for health reasons, high blood pressure and issues with my back and hips, in addition to heart issues I was born with. My cardiologist has been talking about it with me for the last couple of years, but I was truly afraid of any surgery. I want to be able to do what I want to do with the rest of my life, without worrying about how I can get around. Play with the grandkids, travel and go do whatever I want to do. It truly has changed my life in alot of ways. I do not think people in their 30's have this impact their lives lives the way we in our 50's do.
