I agree with Kathy. CHew, chew, chew & chew some more. And don't let yourself get too hungry before eating. I found that if I was really hungry when I sat down to eat I tended to take bigger bites, I ate faster & then I was in misery! I almost PB'd myself to death my first day on solids. It scared me to death cause at the time I didn't even know what a PB was. Slow, chew, chew, chew, enjoy your food, & remember to not drink while eating!

Oh man! I can't wait to be able to do that myself! Congrats & keep up the good work!

what is the actual surgery like?
Jessiebear replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery went about the same as everyone elses. Except for that I had absolutely no surgical pain. Just gas pain. And that too will pass. LOL!! It's a breeze. OK, I'll stop now. Good luck & let us know how it goes. -
I went in for a fill yesterday & was told that I have a 3cc band & that I now have a total of 2.5cc in. I haven't heard of a 3cc band. Has anyone else? I don't really feel more restriction but I am finally getting the "full" feeling. Praise God!! I am being good & drinking a protein shake that I made in my personal mixer (thanks DeLarla!) right now.

Bumpety bump bump.... This thread is cool! I am a LPN who has not worked in a year due to a back injury. But.... I start a new job Monday! This will be my first time working in a nursing home. They assure me that the nurses don't do ANY lifting. Yeah right! I guess I'll find out. Wish me luck please.........Jess

Thank you for the article! There was a lot of good info there.

I got the "3cc" issue straightened out. My band will hold 4cc. I think my doc had a brain fart when he told me this! LOL!!
-
Ummmmmmm...... That sounds good too! Keep the ideas coming!

Nickie you might want to start a new thread to really get his attention. I'm curious to know what he says about your question too.......Jess

Thanks Mandy!

Sounds yummy Penni! I'll have to try that! So far the soy protein powder is pretty good but I'm mixing it with Yougurt, frozen strawberries, a banana & a little splenda. It's pretty darn good that way!

Hey Sweetest_soul! Give us an update! How are you feeling?

Thanks Dr. Hekier! I know for sure that I do not have the VG band because I overheard his conversation when he called his office to confirm which band I had. It must have been the 9.75. I still don't understand why he thinks it can hold only 3ccs. I kind of freaked when he told me that. Anyway, it is nice to know we have a doc on here watching out for us! Thanks again!...........Jess

Yes it is an inamed band. I thought that the smallest was only 4cc. I think you are right. I will call his office & get clarification. Thanks Alexandra!

He meant that my band would hold a total of 3 ccs when full. LOL! It was just bad typing on my part.

I just got a fill today & was told that I have a 3cc band & after the fill today I have a whopping total of 2.5ccs in my band. And I have lost only 30 lbs. I have 170 lbs left to lose. I'm wondering the same thing.

I'm glad I found this! I needed a laugh! Hobbit - Ruby Bulge of Hobbiton Elvin - Nessa Arcamenel My husband's hobbit name - Dimple Bulge of Hobbiton LMAO!!!!!
-
Well then it sounds like you are doing the right thing for you. And that is good! The band is not a answer, it is a tool. Some people require that tool. If you can do it for yourself, then I say do it! If some time down the road you need a tool, then it will be there for you. I wish you all the luck in the world!

My maiden name is Mc Nally & my married name is Mc Coy. Big switch huh? LOL! I had a guy in high school believe that my uncle was Rand Mc Nally. And if someone asks me if I am the real Mc Coy again I think I will scream! LOL! I worked in a doc's office when i was a teenager & there was a pt. named O.B. Massengill - no lie! The office staff drew straws over who would call him back. It was sad. LOL!
