    Hi ppl!!

Hey Eunice! The surgical pain is different for everyone but from what I have seen "most" of us don't have a lot of pain after surgery. And if you do have pain it usually only lasts for a few days. Scars, like pain, are different for everyone. How have you healed in the past when you had a scrape or cut? I used a triple antibiotic ointment on all of my incisions, but used it more on one of them because it was more irritated, and I barely have a scar there at all. Hope this helps!

I'm impressed! Those are some great NSVs!
  13. Okay! Don't know why I just thought of this 8 months after surgery? But it is funny! So I come out of surgery & get to my room. First thing everyone wants to see is my incisions. I pull my gown up & my mom says, "What are these ink marks for?" We can't figure it out. The next day when I am in the bathroom getting dressed to go home I look in the mirror & it hits me, at some point during my surgery, they set me up & drew lines around my breasts to make sure that they wouldn't make an incision under them. I was cracking up! So did my Mom! The doc walks in wanting to know what's so funny so I told him we were admiring his drawings! He grinned. Thought I would share with everyone.

    I finally have eggs!!

Megan, I can so relate to the crazy chicken woman thing! I was just at a funeral for my Great- Aunt Jewel, & it seems that family members & friends that I haven't seen in years were all asking about my chickens! LOL! My Aunt Jewel had Parkinsons & one of the last coherent responses my G-ma got from her was when she told her about my chickens. She laughed & then asked a few questions! She's in a better place now! God rest her soul! I would like to get some guineas & a turkey. A friend of ours has a big incubator & he is excited about hatching some chicks for us, but I want to watch them myself! If you go to McMurray hatchery you can buy a incubator for $19.99 & it will incubate 2 chicken eggs or 1 duck egg. I want to get one for my little cousin who's in the first grade. DeLarla, I will definately have some little peeps running around! But the fresh eggs are soooo... good! Vines, I would love to hear those stories! They sound very entertaining! Kelly, I would really appreciate a tutorial on posting pics! Thanks!

How should I care for incisions?

I can say this much, I used triple antibiotic ointment more diligently on one of incisions more so than the others because it was more irritated & I barely have a scar there. The others are raised & purple.

    Quick & easy recipes.........

Fresh Apple Upside-Down Cake 3/4 cup butter softened & divided 2 cups sugar divided 3 large granny smith apples, peeled & cut into 1/2 inch thick slices 1 cup toasted, chopped pecans, divided 2 large eggs 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 cup milk Melt 1/4 cup butter in a 10 inch cast Iron skillet over medium heat; add 1 cup sugar & cook, stirring often, 2 minutes or until sugar is melted & begins to turn golden. Add apple slices, and cook, stirring often, 5 minutes or until apples have softened slightly & juices are thick & syrupy. Remove skillet from heat & sprinkle apple mixture with 1/2 cup pecans. Set aside. Beat remaining 1/2 cup butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add remaining 1 cup sugar, beating until light & fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating just until blended after every addition. Stir together flour, baking powder & cinnamon; add to butter mixture alternately with milk, beating at low speed just until blended, beginning & ending with flour mixture. Stir in remaining 1/2 cup pecans. Spoon batter evenly over apple mixture in skillet. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in skillet 5 minutes; invert onto serving plate. There is no way that this is low fat! But it sounds soooo...... good!!

    This is funny!!

The power mower was broken and wouldn't run, a wife kept hinting to her husband that he should get it fixed. But, somehow the message never sank in. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When her husband arrived home one day, he found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. He watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. He was gone only a few moments. When he came out again He handed her a toothbrush. "When you finish cutting the grass," he said, "you might as well sweep the sidewalks." The doctors say he will probably walk again, but he will always limp.

    I finally have eggs!!

I have one banty hen that was given to me. I named her Pee Wee! She was laying when I got her. She is about the size of a grapefruit. She loves to be loved on! I have to keep her away from my Americaunas though. She thinks she's bad! It's like a chiuauah (sp?) trying to kick a St. Bernard's butt!
