Okay, so who else, besides me is enjoying the fresh fruits & vegetables this summer? Right now in Arkansas the peaches, watermelons & cantalopes are ripe & in abundance. Lonnie went & picked me some peaches yesterday & man are they good! But let's don't forget the fresh veggies! Cucumbers, green beans, fresh pinto beans, corn, squash, TOMATOES, eggplants, zucchini, purple hull peas - I could go on, but I'll stop. This is what we are getting out of mine & my Grandma's garden right now. I love this time of year!!! Anyone else enjoying their fresh fruits & veggies? Sorry! I had to gush a little.:hungry:

I'm glad you liked it & even more glad that it made it in time! Happy 4th of July everyone!!!

Ummmm......... portion sizes are different for everybody. Especially until you get good restriction or any restriction really. & then it depends on how restricted you are. Just eat until you are satisfied. Chew everything very well & eat very slowly. Ideally we are supposed to eat a 1/2 cup to 1 cup of total food at one sitting. I was told to eat my protein first & if still not full to eat my veggies & fruit. Until I had restriction, I could eat like I did before the band.

Experienced Bandsters, what are your tricks of the trade?
Jessiebear replied to ChicagoCoco's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I mourned food for a while. I think it lasted til I got good restriction. Food use to be my life. All I could think about was what will I eat next! Now, unless it's the fresh fruits & veggies that are in abundance right now, I don't even think about food. At least not the bad foods. Now conversations about eating go something like this - Lonnie: "What's for supper?" Me: "I don't know. What do you want?" Lonnie: " I don't know. What do you want?" Me: "I don't want anything. WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?" This is also the conversation that we have when we go out to eat. It's quite maddening sometimes. You will all get here. It just takes time. Food doesn't rule me anymore. -

Has anyone else received a survey from Inamed through their e-mail? It was a survey on new pre & post-op surgery kits to purchase. Also kits for post-fills & plateaus. They wanted to know what you thought of having these kits for purchase. Just wondering. TTYL!

Hey everybody! I haven't been on in a while. My Dad had triple bypass surgery & I am taking care of him. He's doing great. It was a shock to all of us. He's 52. He called me & asked me to take him to the doctor cause his "gallbladder" was acting up. The next day he had the bypass. hope everyone is doing good! TTYL!! ......Jess

Thanks everybody! I miss ya'll too! Hopefully I'll be able to get back here soon! My Dad is very lucky. All of his coronary arteries were blocked 90% or more & the artery that they call the "widow maker" was 99% blocked. It was also blocked in 3 places. I had been arguing with him for over a year about the symptoms he was having. He said gallbladder & I was saying heart. At least it was caught in time! Well, I'll talk to ya'll later!

WOW!! That is awesome!! Congrats to you! Sorry about your mom.

I appreciate all of the prayers being said on my Dad's behalf! He is doing great!! I just want everyone to know that I may not post a response to everyone requesting prayers, but know that they are being said from heart to God's ears! I just have precious little time to post on here lately. TTYL!!! .......Jess

Thanks ladies! He is doing great! He had been having the same symptoms for almost a year. I kept telling him I thought it was his heart. I worked on a cardiac unit for 3 years. Go figure! Anyway, He had been having extreme discomfort, kinda like indigestion (but worse), while he was eating. He also had discomfort upon exertion & excitement. He had the three Es - pain & discomfort upon eating, excitement & exertion. Classic heart symptoms. He had over 90% blockage in every coronary artery he has! The artery that they call the widow maker was 99% blocked. It was also blocked in 3 places. He is a very lucky man! Thank you so much for your prayers!!!!! We really appreciate them!! He is doing fine & we are expecting him to come home today. Please pray for me now! LOL! I get to take care of him & he is so hard headed!!! LOL!! Thanks again ladies!!
