Wake-up Call....Recommiting to my band!
Jessiebear replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Harriet, you got it girl!! That's wild! We even started out at almost the same weight. I was 360lbs. Good luck with your fill. Are you nervous? I don't get a fill until January 30th. I realized today that I can eat & have absolutely no restriction. Very scarey!!!! -
Hello! I am 34 & I live in Wooster, Arkansas. Yes, it's Wooster - like rooster. I was banded in January of 2005. It's nice to meet all of ya'll!!

My band has slipped after 3 years of being banded
Jessiebear replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Amelia. I'm so sorry you are having trouble. i got lucky this time & it wasn't slipped. I sure thought it was though. i had all of the classic signs. i guess i got a wake-up call. Good luck to you. keep us informed. i'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers. I was miserable for a month with the reflux/aspiration. It just plain sucks! -
It Wasn't Slipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jessiebear replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you!! I had some pain initially. Doc put me on some carafate four times a day. I am back to normal again. I went for almost a month with periods of being unable to eat or drink & aspirating many times through the night. My stoma was extremely irritated. He wants me to start over in 3 weeks with the fills. It feels weird not having any fill after being filled so tight for so long. I had the same fill for 2 years. -

Thanks!! I can live with the enlarged esophagus. They do shrink back don't they? -
It maybe yeast. Befor eI lost the weight I would yeast under my belly. I found a cream made by Burt's Bees (Burt's Bees Baby Bees Skin Cream - it's kinda hard to find) that would soothe it & get rid of it. if you use it every day it will keep it from coming back. It may not be yeast, but that's kinda what it sounds like. hope it gets better.

My band has slipped after 3 years of being banded
Jessiebear replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the input everyone. I wondered about the complete unfill myself. I'm going to wait & see what the barium swallow shows before I ask about it. My doc told me that the band I have, which is the "older model" as he put it, has a higher incidence of slippage than the newer model being used now. Anyone else heard this? He said it is possible that all that will need to be done is to tack it back up with a couple of sutures. He did this same thing to another woman a couple of weeks ago with success. My thinking is, If I have to have surgery to repair a older model band that has a higher incidence of slippage, why not just have it replaced with the newer model? I guess it depends a lot on the cost. I have a lot to think about! Once again, thanks for all the input. It helps to have other people who have been in the shoes I'm in now. For those of you that have slipped, what symptoms did you have? -

Thank you. No it won't cover it. It didn't cover it the first time either. I wouldn't change anything though. I feel better than I have felt in years. I've lost 90 lbs. -
Anyone else get a choice of a walkman or pedometer from Inamed?

I had a choice between a walkman or pedometer for registering with them. Just curious if anyone else got this & if they are still doing it? -
I originally came to this forum for support. Over time I made some friends. That was a plus. I also hope that I offered good support & advice. I have been absent for a long time, only occasionally lurking, because of the negative tone this board has taken. I haven't followed everything that has gone on here, but I know that some of my friends have been hurt. I have had enough negativity in my life. You people need to grow up & get a life (I don't know who you are, but YOU do know who you are). I find it sad that a handful of people had to turn a place of total support & positive energy into nothing but a nasty popularity contest. So, I say farewell.

1.Gave my boyfriend benadryl so I could be alone with my current husband. We've been married for 15 years. I broke up with the boyfriend the next day. 2. I am called "The Evil Boll Weevil" to this day. I use to be able to outride anyone on a 3 or 4 wheeler. 3. I have no kids & I think I like it!! I'll add more later. I have to take my husband's keys to work. He forgot them.........doh!!!!!

Hey Bridget! I'm doing great! I'm so glad you got your fill! Sorry it took 7 sticks. Ouch!!!! Dr. Luttrell's office called me about a month ago wanting me to come in for an EGD. They have recently started doing that for all of their patients that are a year or more out. I just have to work up the courage to do it now. I'm not having problems or anything, but I'm still scared! I have been on a long plateau. I'm not gaining, just maintaining! I'm glad you are doing so well! & wtg on the 62 lb. loss!! Keep it up girl!!!

Hi! Like flower my port also flipped shortly after surgery. My doc was unable to access it & I had to have a outpatient procedure to correct it. I was self-pay & it cost me $500 or $600. There was really no recovery with this procedure compared to the actual lap band surgery. At the time it seemed like a really big thing to me. Now it just seems like a bump in the road on this long journey I have been on. Good luck to you! Don't stress too much over this. It's a easy repair.
